Im not fond of mgsv but the meta narrative is growing on me. Venom is a self insert in the most grotesque fashion. Like the player he is a cold, unfeeling, unemotional machine who loses himself in the quest to achieve a goal that is basically thrown in his lap and he has no reason to pursue. He uses creature comforts like showers and photographs to ground himself among his daily mindless routine. He craves human contact but finds he can only maintain superficial relationships with equally troubled people. It's the "player is raiden" meme taken to like 500x.
