How much do you value writing in videogames?
How much do you value writing in videogames?
Not at all. If you can't tell a story using the medium of video games itself you're just wasting your time. Putting lines and lines of text for people to read is not immersive or engaging. Show the writing through the gameplay itself.
I recognize this scene.
I prefer story and characters to be consistent.
What? You realize writing extends beyond words on a screen, right?
I'm aware. OP's example is a visual novel; which is as much a video game as a physical book with gameplay elements consisting of turning a page and only that.
>and only that
bait
You say that but I'm pretty sure I've seen exactly what you described on steam. Just a book where the "game" is turning the page.
How do you reply Sup Forums?
Bible Black or go home.
I wish I didn't
"Writing" doesn't mean literal text. In fact you admit this with your last sentence. You haven't answered OP at all. What the fuck as the point of your post?
Read my post if you want to determine what the point is.
If it's good then it can carry a game by itself (see: The very best visual novels, the very best RPGs).
If it's bad, then it can destroy a game (see: most visual novels, bad RPGs)
Most games would be better with strong writing, but any game can be ruined by bad writing. The happy medium would be for more games to go for subtle writing, background storytelling and the like, rather than pumping mediocre cutscenes.
Sometimes I over value it. The rest of the time I'm usually skipping text.
More than fucking gameplay that's for sure
>mods deleted every Starless general after the first
What are some genuinely well written games?
>inb4 hurr literally nothing read a book brainlet xD
>tfw started masturbating to drawn scat
So it begins... slippery slope lads
...
A game is shit if it doesn't have an engaging story
This place made me gay, and I now jerk off to traps. I should've left while I still could.
It's not gay if you only like 2D traps
