dark souls. all three of them.
>protagonist is "The Chosen One"
>the "chosen one" is supposed to be sacrificed for a higher god.
Morrowind you faggot.
>antagonist is "The Chosen One"
>you start as a prisoner
No you fucking soulsbabby.
Morrowind, though to an extent this is true for all Elder Scrolls protagonists.
Mythopoeia of the dreamlike universe in TES will make it so that if you are too similar to something on a metaphysical and conceptual level, you will become that, thus even if the Nerevarine prophecy was a "hoax" created by Azura, a person who would mantle it perfectly and fulfill it out of his own sheer skill would actually make the prophecy real and make himself the Nerevarine, bending the universe to his own self made Myth.
>Antagonist WAS the "The Chosen One"
The only one it doesn't apply to is the Last Dragonborn since you legitimately are the chosen one because you are a vessel for the soul of Akatosh.
Morrowind didn't invent that trope, also there were only 10 or so incarnates if I am not wrong.
The difference between Souls games and Morrowind is that the protagonists of souls are actually still special at least in some way, while Nerevarine was literal who beyond some arguable metaphysical connections to Shor.
What games have this?
CHOSEN OOONE
It doesn't apply to any other hero because there was no fake prophecy to turn true.
Dragonborn is absolutely a chosen one though, great dragon God of time chose a vessel to incarnate a shard of himself into at birth.
How is the Nerevarine connected to Shor? Isn't Shor the god of the old Nordic pantheon? How is an ancient Chimer who served a Daedra connected?
>Implying "I heard them say we've reached Morrowind; I'm sure they'll let us go." wasn't one of the best hi-how-are-ya's ever
>Chosen one turns out to be your son
Technically speaking Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC.
Miraak was the original Dragonborn created to reset Alduin, but he went against his purpose and became a villain. So it's a Chosen one 1.0 vs Chosen one 2.0.
Though a game where you are a nobody and your villain is a chosen one would be neat.
>Protagonist gets to pick "The chosen one" out of a selection of people
I'M COMING
Which game has the best "Chosen One" plot?
Is there any protag in a game who is explicitly not the chosen one? And the Antag is
Nerevarine is a "puppet" chosen by the Elder Council together with the Imperial Moth cult helmed by Emperor Uriel Septim himself (who is most likely a saint since he had prophetic visions) to fulfill the Nerevarine prophecy and defeat Dagoth Ur, a rising threat not only to the Morrowind and it's Tribunal but the Empire and Nirn at large, and also the greatest threat to Lorkhanic plan of ultimate egocentric freedom of the mortal man and freedom from the Anuic nightmare that is the universe.
Nerevarine, seems to be liked by Talos who is himself the heir of Lorkhan so much that Talos himself personally visits Nerevarine at the Ghostgate and gifts him a lucky coin which carries a magical blessing.
The connections are there but as I said they are minor, there are people who believe him to be Shezzarine though.
>you are the chosen one
>you are weaker than the antagonist
>the power of friendship dosn't make you stronger
>you perish like the dog you are
>Two protagonists from former games meet up for a one-shot special event
>The protagonist is only "The Chosen One" by blood and everyone outside of their ooga-booga village laughs at them if they refer to themselves by that title
>chosen one is the only character in the game with a special accessory therefore making him chosen
The first part - Rance series, can't think of antagonist chosen ones at the same time.
>The bad guys are actually the good guys
Name 666 games that do this
>protagonist is not The Chosen One
>calls himself The Chosen One anyways just to fuck with people
Whoops, you seem to have posted the wrong picture there, friend.
I only know 665
>You aren't the Chosen One
>You are merely a messenger for the true Chosen One
>Player controls the antagonist but is self aware of his role and tries to change his fate but the "Game" will go against him.
>your mission is to find the Chosen One and train him to reach his potential
>Legion babby
Why would you want to be on the losing side, user?
>protagonist is the sidekick of "The Chosen One"
>you're the antagonist
>there is no protagonist, everyone is just desperately trying to stop you
America is dead and buried, user. Let it go. We're all mutie tribals now.
Have any games done this well that are not Hatred or Postal?
>Chosen one goes on to become a god entirely on his own merit
>Soul Nomad NG+ route
Shit was glorious, evil games are just unprofitable apparently.
>15 min into the game
>here's your power armor, kill that deathclaw lmao
This is a spoiler but I think Xenoblade Chronicles fits the bill there, though in a weird way.
>you're the antagonist
That's not how that word works. If you're the main character, you're the protagonist, regardless of morality.
>Why would you want to be on the losing side
I don't know, you tell us since you're the one posting enclave.
you know what he fucking means you faggot
any game you've played in which you've died
No I don't because he doesn't understand words and you don't understand this post.
If that counts then so does Dark Arisen
>main villain from the first game becomes a party member in the second game
...
>Protagonist is the chosen one
>Goes insane due to his power being tainted and the pressure of saving the world
>Your waifu is the chosen one.
STOP USING CHEMS
AUTODOCS ARE OKAY, THOUGH

Even House is better than you guys, and he wants to enslave everyone with killer robots.
*tips*
>The Chosen One is a porn star
lol
>enslave
Hes literally the libertarian choice.
The robots are PROTECTRONS
>You found a mom that keep saying his son was the Chosen One
>you find his body later on
>find other several "Chosen One" all locked up in a cell at the local city, all of them claiming to be
>you are actually the Chosen One only because the princess literally threatened you to be one
>you get money and fuck bitches in the taverns

>voice protagonist
>4 wheel dialogue
>faux rpg
>bethesda
>snarky dialogues
Do you prefer learning about your Chosen status early or late in the game?
Ideally not Chosen, but later if necessary. See: Morrowind.
Is Soul Nomad a good game?
Looks like jrpg where you buff your characters and you don't even if you are actually dealing damage with X Million damage within a turn
More like you are her waifu
Metal Gear Revengance
Clearly you don't understand words if you can't even understand something as simple as
>you're the antagonist
it means you're the "big bad guy"
it's ridiculous that i had to spell that out for you, you fucking autist
>this whole post
He's being pedantic, not autistic.
...
>Chosen One is destined to defeat the antagonist
>you're not the Chosen One
>you do all the work
>the Chosen One does the last hit
>they act like they saved the world
Oops forgot to post this
>you have to help the "Chosen One" all the time because he is a giant retard
>BoS delusions
>you have chosen the chosen one at the start of the game from a group of the chosen ones
The reason why Oblivion's story is so memorable, you're the sidekick all the way through
Then you become a mad god out of nowhere
Honestly can't say, I'm not a fan of disgaea gameplay, so combat was rather annoying most of the times (but I still went though the whole game and abused the random gen thing to get to lvl 9999 just to shit on NG+ for ultimate domination feel). The story and the character interactions however are actually good tough in my opinion, so if anything I would recommend watching a story movie with cut 30 minute longs fights in between (if that's your thing).
I was baited into playing it because of the said NG+ route, too little games do it.
I just beat Fallout 1 and 2 so where should I go next with CRPGs
UnderRail, good luck.
>you are actually the chosen one
>you commit mass genocide
>your "punishment" is to keep your genocide going for as long as you want
>final boss dies in a cutscene
>real real final boss who was behind everything gets arrested
>you kiss your daughter
Fuck you Kojimbo
Fallout 3 obviously
