Really chill walking simulator, the atmosphere is great, the ost is kind of unsettling, the game actually feels like a dream, it gave me the same weird feelings I get when I have an odd dream.
Honestly, it's one of the most unique and memorable experiences I've ever had with a game, the aimless wandering for hours and curiosity of what kind of things I would see if I kept playing, shit's wonderful.

I don't mean to be a downer, but how is it any different? It's got less to it's gameplay than even those "shitty" walking sims, with only the bare minimum of story if it even reaches that level.

It's mostly because it's weird enough, interactive enough, and cheap enough (free) to keep people from complaining too much.
Seriously, walking sims weren't a problem back then and were just "weird gameplay-less games that didn't cost me anything" as they should be.
The creator didn't have an "agenda" and just wanted to make something unique, then left with no fanfare. No one heard from them since.

Played a bunch of the games it helped inspire like Ib and Witch's House but never it. Not sure why.

This one is my favorite. Partially because I love Stamper's stupid ramblings but I love their little expressions during every part of the song.

It's kind of like how sometimes famous or important old music album sound completely normal or uninteresting, it's not so much about what it is, but what it was in it's moment.
It's a good walking simulator with an interesting theme and no dumb political or social commentary, it's completely fine to find it boring since not everyone enjoys the same things in vidya.
