Did you fall for the A E S T H E T I C S meme and become a western spy, comrade?
Reminder that the Nymph gives you a fungal infection and that Hallow is another form of corruption.

Is this game just 2D Mincraft, or does it have a story, progression, etc?
It has bosses and some form of progression.
Playing through Thorium, in late Hardmode now. Any good accessories I should know about?
2D Minecraft metroidvania in which you build commieblocks for jews, whores, and old fogies while fighting eldritch abominations and getting stronger with equipment and other goodies.
Not really comparable to Minecraft. I think it's a lot better than it though.
The middle column is just for cosmetics, why do you do this?
I find it to be a lot more fun than Minecraft. Even though it's a 2D survival game and the world is limited, it's filled with a lot more and better content than Minecraft giving you so much to do in the game. There isn't really a story but there is progression.
It's literally accessory storage, mate. I don't care too much about aesthetics in a single player playthrough, so I'd rather use it to easily swap out between different accessories for different situations.
I thought I was the only one that did this. Thank you user.
Not OP but so you can swap out gear without taking inventory space. Sometimes you want different buffs or effects from the gear.
I have 130 hours in this game and I didn't know about this. Do the informational accessories still work in these slots?
>Want to destroy the crimson hearts
>They are protected by walls
>Need better pickaxe to mine it
>Pickaxe needs drop from boss
>Boss spawn from breaking hearts
Did i miss something? Im rather new to the game. How do i progress?
Just checked, no they don't. You can keep them in your inventory though and they'll still give you information.
Bombs.
Use bombs. Every type of block has a pickaxe power requirement.
Also Purification Powder, but that's too slow and annoying.
You could also fish up a Reaver Shark and mine it up.
What a shame. At least I know where to put my spare accessories now.
Sorry, I don't play loot treadmills. Terraria has nothing to offer to the neurotypical.
You can still go full autismo and build something cool.
Neurotypicals love loot treadmills.
I think I must be autistic then
For movement, Arctic Diving Gear, Frostspark Boots, Bundle of Balloons, Lava Waders, and any pair of Wings and Grappling Hook you can get your hands on. For information, the Cell Phone, it has the largest crafting tree in the game and some of the items are hard to get, but it has the combined effects of every single information item in the game and is very useful. For combat, Ankh Shield gives you immunity to most of the debuffs in the game and Celestial Shell gives you a lot of stat boosts. For melee, Fire Gauntlet, for ranged, Sniper Scope, for magic, Celestial Emblem and Celestial Cuffs.
I just wanted to dump my cosy cloud home, here's my storage tree.
I love to experiment with base defenses and trap systems.
I know about all of those. I'm getting the Ankh Charm accessories and the Cell Phone stuff as I play and the Firestorm Boots (the red boots) are pretty much just Lava Waders and the Frostspark Boots combined. I'd like to get the Sniper Scope but dungeon grinding is a bit of a bitch.
I was asking if there's any worthwhile Thorium accessories I should be getting at this point in the game, considering I know about most other vanilla accessories.
>neurotypicals don't like loot treadmills
explain literally every phone game and hearthstone
>ywn get the monokuma outfight exclusive to the japanese version
You can make a boss summon items off drops from the monsters around the area.
Upgrade your Firestorm Boots to the Terrarium Particle Sprinters and your Ankh Shield to the Terrarium Defender.
how did these niggas get away with stealing FF6 sprites anyways?
I tried to not make commie blocks, but I have no creativity.
Its a funny history, the guy that stole those had his ass kicked from the team.
He went to make another game, full of promisses and got a million from kickstarter
He was Tiyuri, the game was fucking Starbound.
>Starbound
don't remind me. the game was 3 years late and still wasn't good.
What the hell
I warned some people about Tiy and how he was such a faggot. But people was licking his balls about TERRARIA IN SPACE.
Even some versions of the alpha were better than the shit that was released, the lore was good. Now its just a mess about MUH ANCIENT EVUL.
Also the combat suck.
Also the game runs like shit.
Wish someone firebombed their offices.
Please no
>fell for starbound hype fucking hard
>preordered as soon as it became available
>posted on /sbg/ for years before release
>even went so far as to become a tripfag who wrote smut about it
>played it day one
>incredible disappointment
>picked it up again a few times after that but hated it every time
I miss birdtits.
Man i never saw a place like /sbg/, the game was dead, everything sucked, there was no discussion.
Only pure, unadulterated rage.
Gonna get the game soon, should I play with mods and just figure it all out or should I play through and complete then play again with mods? I'm not sure if it's worth it yet but with the amount of content mods have, it looks promising to play more than once.
>2-D Minecraft
Play without first, there's more than enough content for multiple playthroughs in vanilla
this game is fun
Think you could tell/show me some? Just entered hardmode and I need a trap system for the eclipses and bloodmoons
The first few hours definitely weren't, but it does get fun. At first I thought it was completely trash because all I could do was cut trees and dig through dirt. It's like why not just play minecraft? But eventually once you see that there's random stuff deep underground, it becomes a whole lot more fun because it gets difficult to explore them and you want to.
>trying to no build commieblocks
>end building commieblocks
Why...
Any good Magic weapons with decent damage and super cheap mana costs? I'm doing a Mage run and need something that doesn't suck all my mana up in 3 shots
just actuate the blocks on the sides of your base, and put lava below them
when you get an invasion, hit the actuator
where exactly are you in terms of progression?
>Try to get into this game
>Have fun exploring and slaying bosses
>Inventory full
>Get to my base
>Complete fucking mess
>Ugly as fuck everything
>Sorting inventory is a pain
>Lose all will to keep playing
>Repeat the next day
God, i HATE managing my stuff.
Cause building accurately takes patience, why do that when you can just lay down straight lines?
>not just remembering where everything is in which chest
Wasn't ever a problem until I ran out of chests
Just started hardmode
>Spend time building up supplies
>End up using commieblocks
>There is no way I'm redoing it now
This always happens to me when I'm playing with friends. We just progress through the game, find new NPCs, new crafting stations, and build more chests faster than I can build an aesthetically pleasing house alone. I have to build commieblocks just to compensate for it all and then I never end up finishing the house.
After playing this game for so many hundreds of hours, I honestly find the beginning of the game with a clean map and no items extremely refreshing.
Magic storage get it now
>play with 4 friends
>they just place chests and dump their inventories into them when they're full
>blue, gold, brown, and purple chests everywhere full of random shit
Honestly my least favorite part of the game, but thankfully some mods exist for shit like that
>build an entire house ahead of time
>forget a few npcs
>resort to commie block expansions because I'm too lazy to undo a few walls
>house is now ugly
Fuck
is Dryad/Nurse the best girl?
newfag here, what are commie blocks
grab the magic dagger if you can, and the golden shower if your world is crimson
Alright thanks, world is corruption but I have an extra voodoo doll I can make a new one and collect some ichor
Lava, geysers and dart traps with switches. I am at work now, but I can show you my base when I am home if you are patient (in 8 hours). I am lurking these threads all the time.
Unnapealling connected square rooms in an unappealing square house with nothing of note usually made quickly
What in the goddamn?!
Pretty much shit like. Just the bare minimum to be able to house NPCs with table/chair/light source/door. They're simple and extremely easy to make, but even then there are more efficient autism tier versions.
Actually about to go to bed knowing these threads though it'll last till Saturday I'll look out for it when I get uo
O I C
ty
>all these houses and pictures of people putting their chests in sealed compartments
Why? Doesn't it save more space just putting them in existing rooms?
This looks like it would have taken ages to complete.
Yes
why the fuck don't you have magic storage
More a e s t h e t i c this way.
It's possible for NPCs to walk in front of them
/nmsg/?
Not him but that's an okay trick to know. I always just made taller rooms and put them up on shelves
The Sky Fracture is my favorite magic weapon, feels so rad sending out all those swords
Liked Thorium, should I try Calamity
Well, that was waay after the /sbg/ fiasco.
but yeah, just like /nmsg/ but with more bird tits.
You have been blessed, my child
>tfw wanna host a thorium/spirit server with a few quality of life mods but no one seems interested
suffering
no, calamity is shit and is made by the type of modder who sees his work as perfect and bans people for criticizing it.
You can rape the moon lord in pre-hardmode gear
Spirit is apparently pretty good, haven't gotten a chance to fully play through it yet
i beat the moonlord and the only things left for me to do are to beat the frost moon and the dungeon defenders event
which one should i do first? should i use moonlord weapons to beat either one, or would that be too overpowered?
>metroidvania
Please fuck off. Terraria is not 'metroidvania' at all.
you should have been doing the dungeon defenders event(s) through the whole time, it upgrades itself.
and for that matter it's got some decent rewards for sentry class summoning at all progression points
moonlord weapons will rape all of the stuff
why those walls outside of doors, do they trick enemies or something?
They're actuated blocks. He can flip a switch and it changes them from the faded out background to actual solid blocks. Probably used to block enemies during blood moons or invasions.
Is it playing solo, or do I need friends to play with me?
whoops, i just neglected them, i thought they were on par with difficulty like the moonlord. i'm not using mods yet, i will after i go through the last two vanilla events.
what weapons are about even to use on frost moon? ufo event weapons? i dont want to completely overpower everything, i like a bit of a challenge.
Probably actuated blocks for invasions.
great solo even better with other faggots
I enjoy starbound more than terraria.
give me your (you)s
I actually think that
Do different pools of water matter when fishing? Does depth matter? I'm not sure if it's okay to fish in a small pond or I should be fishing in a lake.
Well you're wrong considering starbound has less content which makes it objectively inferior, not to mention the fact that the content it does have is worse and not as well done.
Here's you're you.
Different biomes/depths give you different fish, also in quests you're required to fish in a specific biome/depth. The size of the lake affects your fishing power, it must be big enough or else you will get only boots and tin cans.
Pic shows how the game calculates the "lake size", takes all the surface tiles and counts all the water tiles straight down from them.
The thing that keeps me from not building commieblocks is the fact I don't have lots of building materials early on. This becomes a problem later because I need more NPCs to move in so I end up needing to build even more commieblocks, and I feel less motivated to build something elaborate. Anyone else know this feel?
That explains why I didn't get boxes for so long.
I would argue that Starbound has more content but it's low quality, sure.
I've been thinking of replaying Terraria. Is Thorium worth it?
Post houses
>tfw missing the key and accidently throwing a bomb in your commieblock
There's no way you can just build roofs and perfect buildings like this without knowledge of architecture or something.
>poc
Waterside?
