7 was much better, both in terms of gameplay and sex scenes.

Play the other games first. If you have played the other games already:
Be at war all the time. There's several countries that will declate war on you if you go few turns without fighting, and it sucks going to war unprepared.
Never vassalize anybody. It's the worst option in game.
Always prioritize recruiting unique commaders.

...I'd also tell you to wait until official localization is complete, since it'll be better, but that's few months away so I doubt you'd wanna wait that long.

Conquering places is the best way to get SAT wich will give you some of the stronger commanders in the game and is the only way to increase your fan count (amount of things you can in one turn).
Don't savescum too much.
Sometimes the option to recruit characters will disapear. If this happens try increasing your National power. The game doesn't really do a good job explaining this.

Rance 5/6 translation is way better than the current SR one so i will be suprised if the official one will be worse than the current translation.

not him but the current translated games that are worth playing are Kichikou and rance 6. Both feature characters introduced in other entries of the series but i don't think those are worth playing.

It'd be amazing if it wasn't better. Yandere's patch is impressive work, but compared to back when they worked on the game, we have much better understanding of the engine, and actual code from Alicesoft.
TakaJun's translation isn't that solid either. There's plenty of things that he got wrong, or just didn't understand. And no, I'm not talking about in-universe terminology and shit.
Though I can't influence the translation quality myself, since I do the graphic work. Stuff is gonna look a bit different in the official release, and most notably the Gunagan CG is gonna be in English.
If you wanna get the most enjoyment out of the story and characters, it'd be good to play previous Rance games first, or at the very least VI, since Sengoku continues right where it ends.
Out of other Alicesoft games, Toushin Toshi 2 and Big Bang Age are definitely worth checking out. Kamidori and Bunny Black are great gameplay focused eroge, albeit from different developers.

Always choose "Call for reinforcements" from SAT bonuses and choose Leazas' commanders first except when you get extra action fan from SAT 50 for easy win.

Name the game

Do all of the optional content first. As in, get all of the S-Rank weapons, complete character events, and so on. When you're done with those, you should have high enough level to finish.
Alternatively you can just grind while doing nothing else.

Game can be very frustrating. Don't think about it as Total War. There is a lot scripted events that can fuck you very hard.

I'd say Leila is more important in early game becuase of his ability to hit enemies that have more health than her with double damage.
It's great against foot soldiers.
Maria can also be useful.

Uruza is dope but you can also get Naoe Ai quite early in game who's also a good tactician.
The magicians from Zeth are quite bad too.

Sengoku Rance/Rance 7?
First one in the series I played

I always use Maria a whole lot, and the extra tulip armies that come with her.
Thought she was really useful as a straight damage dealer.

I loved 7's story but 6 is even better.

i liked rocky. i was afraid that i would have to bech him during the game but he become useful though the main story.

That's generally agreed on, since VI is more of a standard JRPG story it can be much better with actually defined progression, unlike Sengoku which is all over the place due to its freeform nature.
It's the gameplay that splits people. Some people prefer dungeon crawling, while others like the grand-strategy.

Oh well, you should at some point. If you know what you're doing you can get all the important stuff done and prepare for the demon army in 60 something days easy.
And after you beat it you can unlock a sandbox mode where there's no demon army which is fun for just coasting through.

It depends what you are looking for.
If you don't care much for JRPGs and dungeon crawling, yes. Kichikuou Rance has arguably better story and setting, but it's held back by being grand-strategy game made in 90s, so it's kinda clunky.
If you like JRPGs, Rance VI is best, and it has proper story with really great pacing.
Only redeeming factors to Rance 5D are the music and jokes. Gameplay is intentionally ass.

Rance Quest's story is there, it's nothing amazing, but has some really fun scenes, though no serious moments to speak of. You'll either love or hate the gameplay, it's really not like any other JRPGs out there.
Rance IX has the most grounded story which suits the setting well, and serves lots of twists while handling story branches better than Sengoku. As far as gameplay goes, it is most standard of all games being mostly regular SRPG, which is fine I suppose.
Rance 01 is a goofy remake with silly gameplay.
Rance 03 is very realized remake with surprisingly good gameplay.

Is Sengoku Rance the only game to be fully translated so far? VNDB shows a lot of them translated but aren't those just the gameplay parts?

There's digest versions translated of the first two games. The original two, made in 80s.
Rance 3 to 7(sengoku) are fully translated, albeit Sengoku's translation is unofficial. Technically that is the case for 3 and 4 too, but those were released as freeware anyway.

Those are two different girls. Anyway, Rance 03 throws quite few curve-balls to people who are familiar with originals, and that means some scenes are more brutal than before.

It's very much in tone with rest of the series. Rape in Rance is funny when Rance himself is doing the raping. When it's anybody else, it's way more brutal, like with Kurohime's scenes in Sengoku. While Rance just puts her in bondage, Xavier fucking mutilates her.

Do you have to torture/rape Kaoru in R6 or can you move on without doing so? That whole part bummed me out.

That actually makes the series sound more interesting. I've gone through games where it's just comedy rape or not taken seriously, and it gets old fast.

Are the darker ones that aren't done by rance and not avoidable fixable? And I by that I mean, does Rance get a piece later for most of them, or are these characters basically gone Taimanin Asagi style after that?

In some cases Rance gets action after the girl gets nursed back to health, either from them being thankful, or giving him some quest to win their approval since usually it was his shit that caused them to get monster-fucked.
But sometimes he doesn't get anything. Rance VI is particularly good at keeping some girls out of his reach. Though it's very rare for characters in series to get unsatisfying end, usually when somebody dies it's either because they deserve it, or just to make you very upset.
