is it CP if I fapped to this?
breengrub would've been a great villain
No, but he was a bean guy.
The way it has an overall human morphology is a little disappointing. At least it's not Trekkian brow ridge aliens, but it has four stubs at the same height as legs and arms would be, it has a chest fold that looks like breasts, it has a distinct cranium and eyes and mouth all with human placing. Has an anus with human-esque placement.
At the very least it shouldn't have those eyes, come on.
I'M BEAN BREEEEEEEEN
He was a dick, but he was doing the only thing he could in his position.
Turning into the Breen Bean is a pretty shit fate
Tell me, Mr. Freeman if you can
You have destroyed so much
What exactly is it you've created?
Can you name even one thing?
I thought not
>hope
I. I... I TURNED MYSELF INTO A GRUB GORDON
I'M BREEN GRUUUUB
Rick and Morty is so bad that it loops around to being pretty funny ironically. Pickle Rick gets a chuckle out of me just because it's so fucking stupid. It's like Bazinga 2.0.
That grub was allegedly supposed to be Breen after he's altered by the Combine, as they do.
it was not hope user
It's a larval state. I would assume that, over time, the more human features you mentioned would go away, and at an adult stage would look like the Advisors.
I always thought it was supposed to show how the advisor species used to some kind of large biped but as technology advanced, modified themselves to hell and back to enhance their psychic capability as much as possible, even at the cost of physical capability which could be negated anyway by telekinetic flight and sensory abilities
like how synths were normal xen creatures modified to unrecognizability
Why didn't Gordon & Alyx use Borealis to return to the time before Combines existed and kill their creators?
...
because that would've been a retarded cop out of an ending
Why did the combine alter him?
As opposed to what we got?
Because if all that never happened there wouldn't be the Borealis to begin with. Or at least Gordon wouldn't exist in that timeline. It's a Time paradox
Because you cannot control the bootstrap device.
The Advisors ARE the larval stage.
I'm hard pressed to think of anybody who deserves what Breen got.
That'd be a helluvan ending in it of itself if you think about it. Imagine making the decision to go back in time using the Borealis when the Combine were whatever primitive they started off as. Just a bunch of things huddling in the dark like humans once did. Afraid of their equivalent of saber toothed tigers. Then this orange guy and asian black chick show up, they've never seen anything like them before, and the player just slaughters them. Completely removing them from existence.
Happy endings are boring, go read a childrens book if you want one
I can think of a few people.
If you think an ending is good just because it's not happy, I have news for you.

He was the wrong man in the right place whereas Freeman was the right man in the wrong place
P O T T E R Y
Where is this picture from btw, is it fanart?
>is it fanart?
Yes.
Thats the ultimate future form of Gabe, a flying telepathic blob of fat, sucking the life out of a franchise. Combine was really an allegory of Steam itself.
Breengrub's mercy killing by Gordon is so fascinating because it foreshadows Gordon's killing of humanity itself.
>After the Combine are forced out, Earth is devastated
>ecosystems irreparably destroyed
>majority of crops and farm animals killed off
>all freshwater lakes and the irrigation that comes with them have been sucked up and teleported back to the Combine
>ocean's have been sucked up to the point of lowering sea levels drastically
>humanity's sole food sources come from Combine welfare programs
>all progress relied solely on Combine super technology
By destroying the Combine, Freeman has destroyed any potential for humanity to reestablish itself. Breen was right all along.
And yet Freeman kills humanity anyway because Breengrub is a allegory for what humanity has become: an asymmetrical leech on Combine life support. Freeman in the end decided that a life without freedom wasn't a life at all.
They must be loopy if they think that's the pinnacle of Combine evolution. How do these things build a Dyson Sphere?
But maybe the grubs are just the lowest rung on the shit ladder and the first combine are flying tennis balls or something. You send them so far away you don't have to look at them.
What if the universe the Combine is from doesn't have time?
Portal 2 takes place after the events of the 7 hour war, and we see a full field of wheat, so I don't think Earth is totally fucked.
>Breen was right all along.
>Ooh... Eli.
>If only you could see what I've seen.
>You wouldn't be so shortsighted!
>I have studied 36 zones beyond our own.
>Carbon stars with ancient satellites colonized by sentient fungi. Gas giants inhabited by vast meteorological intelligences. Worlds stretched thin across the membranes where [the] dimensions intersect... Impossible to describe with our limited vocabulary!
>Once Eli has convinced himself of something, not even the truth can change his mind.
>Well, if you'd like to reconsider your involvement in the program, Eli, it would make a huge difference in how quickly we could make the Combine portals safe for human use.
>That way, Alyx, and even yourself, might be able to travel to the Aleph Universe with your faculties intact.
>That is our ultimate goal, after all, to move freely to the continuum to make our incipient immortality worthwhile.
>the real Combine are literally immortal and they most likely reside in the Aleph universe
>it's probably the Dyson sphere
FUCK
mr bean haha
>bad guy
doesnt portal 2 take place millions of years in the future?
If there was the possibility of such an action fragmenting the timeline, it wouldn't be worth it. They would just be saving themselves while dooming the rest of their humanity to live out eternity under the Combine's heel (what Alyx ended up doing anyway I guess).
portal 2 is like at least 30000 years into the future
He deserved better.
But Gordon is taken to the far future too.
source
What's even the source of this image?
GRUBY BREEN IS IN THE HOUSE TONIGHT!
how could this sacks of fat take over the world?
This probably would have been an eraserhead baby moment full of disgusting shit.
Yeah and in the Combine future the world would be either be completely dead or broken down for resources. So something went right.
Even if Chell is the only human left on Earth at least the planet is still there.
The Final Hours of Portal 2 states
"One way to further differentiate Portal and Half-Life was to set the game far in the futureāat least 50,000 years."
That's an open ending, they probably wanted to set it up with Portal since at the end of Portal 2 Chel also ends up at an unknow point far in the future.
>99999999999999
30 or 50k
Breen was actually the good guy all along.
wait what
but freeman doesn't destroy the combine..?
He wasn't a good guy nor a bad guy.
...
>LONG AGO, IN A DISTANT PLANET, WE, COMBINE, THE INTER-DIMENSIONAL MASTERS OF DARKNESS, UNLEASHED AN UNSPEAKABLE EVIL, BUT A FOOLISH SCIENTIST, WIELDING A NORMAL CROWBAR, STEPPED FORTH TO OPPOSE US! NOW THE FOOL SEEKS TO GO TO THE PAST, AND UNDO THE FUTURE THAT IS COMBINE!
>combine overlord is actually Aku
I
I want it to happen
Whats their end goal?
Make Eli grub by sucking his brain, and continue the Alyx drama.
Go back in time to free the nihilanth and use its crazy power to btfo gman and the combine.
>A shower curtain company was humanity's only hope
To become as lardly lardy fat as Gaben and achieve galactic monopoly.

To feed their ever growing corpulent lifestyles. Just like Gabe.
So what would prevent Freeman from just going back in time and snagging the unstable sample with him, thus preventing the resonance cascade from happening?
If it wasn't for him the human race would have been wiped out.
Something I kind of find weird is how people were surprised by how powerful the Combine turned out to be in the Episode 3 story leak. They have the ability to travel across different universes, so even though they couldn't travel to other planets, due to their lack of local teleportation, I always assumed that they had bases in thousands, if not millions of different universes. Years ago, I used to think that the reason Episode 3 was taking so long was because Valve was trying to think of a way to defeat such a powerful antagonist without it being a complete ass-pull.
Gman would drop kick his ass.
because they he would never have travelled back in time in the first place you retard
A 2nd time-traveling Freeman will be sent to stop the 1st time-traveling Freeman from stopping the resonance cascade from happening, because the future without the resonance cascade is actually worse than the Combine future.
>He was the wrong man
you take that back
I know valve's main excuse for no HL3 was that they didn't have the ability to revolutionise the gaming industry like they did with HL1 and 2, but after reading that ep3 plot I honestly dont think valve needed to revolutionise with episode 3. Like, for people who are incredibly invested in the lore, that ending would have absolutely fucked with them. Even if they released a normal, source engine game in the style of the episodes, I still would've been shook for weeks after that ending. Like, we spent all this time working to overthrow the combine, theorycrafting about just how powerful the borealis is, getting immersed in the game, and then bam. It's all in vain, and gman has been playing you since the beginning. I don't work at valve but seriously I don't know why they couldn't just release the story of episode 3 as a simple 5 hour episode, the EXACT SAME as the previous two. The story was more than good enough
He could pop in and out of that place in time in an instant though, taking the sample from g-man's hands complete with a comedic YOINK
Maybe it would have been better if the human race had been wiped out.
He can't because then he wouldnt time travel in the first place.
Also people are saying to go back in time to fuck with the combine; did anyone think it may be the human race which is being stopped by the combine?
half life 1
>revolutionize fps genre
half life 2
>do it again + best graphics ever and proper believable physics
half life 3
>PERFECT the genre with all the experience learned from 1+2
>The combine uses the information sucked from Eli's brain to make an Advisor with his memories and personality
The apocalypse known only as DRUMPF makes combine occupation look like an utopia
That is a shit excuse for many reasons. First, the episodic content. Either episode 1 or 2 revolutionized gaming or half life 2 for that matter. They were more of the same but with new ideas and set pieces.
Why couldn't Episode 3 be the same, another expansion with the same level of ambition of episode 1 and 2 is beyond my comprehension.
Second:
Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2. Either managed to completely revolutionize the previous game (L4D2 didn't that for sure) and yet, Valve so no creative issue with releasing/rushing such sequels to their new franchises.
I believe that, back in the day, Valve was too focused on steam, turning it into the monopoly it is today, Gabe too focused on that and not enough time to work on Episode 3 or Half Life 3. Priorities shift. Developing games no longer an important thing for valve, and instead, working on their digital store as the main project and income for Valve.
Years went by and now we reached a point where expectations for a Half Life new game are so high, Gabe is afraid of actually releasing another title, fearing that we would never achieve such expectations and, in the process, ruining the Half Life brand with what would probably be seen as a sequel that doesn't makes up for the years of waiting.
Half Life 3 will happen when Gabe leaves Valve.
>Half Life 3 will happen when Gabe leaves Valve.
I don't think so, to be honest. The depressing truth is that all the micro-transaction stuff is way more profitable, and way easier to do, than big single-player game projects.
He was. Wether or not he was trying to preserve humanity he sold them out.
Half life 3 could revolutionize the genre by just being such a fantastic game. Or by using NON EUCLIDEAN GEOMETRY
Any hope for Episode 3 to happen ended once people started calling it Half Life 3 instead. That put the pressure on Valve even further, and they couldn't just give us another 5 hour long adventure in the source engine.
Hopes for Half Life 3 basically ended 18 months ago when Mark left the company. Even if they make one down the line it wouldn't be the same without the main writer behind it. And it doesn't even look like they had Half Life 3 planned at all, seeing as all we got was the plot synopsis of episode 3, not Half Life 3.
>W-without the Combine.... I wouldn't have existed...
I would have been fine with there been no Half-Life 3, but I would have liked Half-Life 2's story to be concluded by Episode 3 actually being made.
I for one welcome our new Combine overlords
Release of HL3 would be the greatest happening in industry since forever and I don't think valve have the balls to make it happen.
I also think they don't have the slightest how to wrap up the story. Especially since Mark left.
I didn't play Half Life 2 and it's episodes until 2009, when I got the Orange Box. Out of curiosity, when did people start getting worried about Episode 3 being delayed?
That's the point dumbass
this reads like a dwarf fortress forgotten beast description.
>beware it's deadly spittle!
I don't understand how Civil Protection would cafe if you fapped.
That is the thing. Episode 3 could have been a thing with little to no hassle. Episode 1 and 2 didn't revolutionize shooters or Half Life.
They could easily make an Episode 3 with little fanfare and still conclude the Half Life 2 story and keep fans happy for that time.
It didn't need to be the second coming of jesus because Episode 1 and 2 weren't either.
Something happen, for some fucking reason production for Episode 3 stopped and never returned
