Not sure if it was Nintendo's or KT's idea, but why is this not the fucking norm?? this would put to rest the eternal graphics vs performance in Consoles
nintendoeverything.com/fire-emblem-warriors-lets-you-play-at-60-fps-in-exchange-for-lower-resolution/ >Director Hiroya Usuda indicated that Fire Emblem Warriors was created with a 1080p resolution and 30 frames per second experience in mind. However, an option is included so that you can increase the frame rate to 60 FPS while lowering the resolution to 720p. Usuda hopes that those who want a focus on action can give the option a look.
This makes me much more interested in the game than I was before.
I'd guess it stems from KT, being that Nioh (the only other game that I can think of) has a similar option.
Luke Gray
>why isn't this the norm It is on PC :^) Some other console games have done this too, pretty sure Nioh was one of them.
Nathan Lee
>choose between better frames for worse resolution or better resolution for less frames
That is actually kinda cool. Sucks that it's mostly a console problem, but hey even they should be given a choice when hardware is limiting.
Evan Reyes
Most Nintendo game tend to run at 60fps if possible. Meaning the choice is between >1080 60 >720 60 >720 30 as last resort Unless you want crazy stuff like BotW at 540 60, an option like that has no real place in most Nintendo games
Sebastian Rivera
Problem is, the game looks like shit. The animations are PS2 era-tier and there's no special new features in the game aside the weapon-triangle stuff.
Tyler Miller
It would be on Team Ninja's part; Nioh did the same thing.
The base model runs either 1080p/30FPS or 720p/60FPS, with the Pro running either native 4K/30FPS or 1080p/60FPS.
Ayden Evans
>with the Pro running either native 4K/30FPS It's not real 4K. And the 1080/"60fps" has drops.
Jace Smith
^ this is my problem with the game, the first teaser made me hyped, but now... the animations look bad.
Jace Howard
not limiting to FE alone, but would be nice if devs on consoles start to give this option, there is a plethora of game I would trade tone down the resolution if that improves/ make more stable the frame rate
Ryan Wood
G-police on PS1 did that back then. Imagine user, a PS1 game.
You could choose a balance between FoV / draw distance and framerate.
Austin Hill
It's KT's idea. They did it with NioH too
Joshua Flores
It's 1440p, when i first loaded it up i knew it was way too blurry to be 4K & thought the Pro mode was disabled or something
Josiah Phillips
>Just Fates and Awakening characters + Marth
Into the trash it goes
Carter Bailey
It's not that simple
For example Horizon Zero Dawn is heavily CPU bottlenecked because they use the CPU to stream all the foliage, so even if Sony put a Titan XP in the Pro, it's still not gonna hit 60fps
Alexander Roberts
Still doesn't have any good characters, so it's not like I'll be getting it.
David Mitchell
what did you expect??, those 2 are what brought back the series to spot light
Nicholas Barnes
I seriously don't understand people who expected anything else.
Adrian Wood
>cpu to stream assets
holy shit you are retarded
Nicholas Mitchell
that sounds to me as bad design, also >wasting that much CPU in fucking foliage that is not even interactive
Carter Johnson
I at least expected some other Lords. The OC are also shit and they should have just used Alfonse, Sharena, and Anne for the tutorial.
maybe if the game sells well, we will see past entries as DLC. its a win win New games attract players and DLC familiarize em with the "old" lords and characters
Charles Young
They can at least pretend the franchise is more than six years old.
Christopher Hall
as much as the current and likely target audience concern, the franchise started on Awakening
Adam Torres
You make do with the hardware that's available. Clearly it worked considering Horizon is very stable while having a lot of detail on screen, quite remarkable for a 2013 machine with 2010 mid-tier PC hardware. Perhaps Nintendo should've done something similar considering that BotW is horribly unstable and has massive drops as well as freezes on some occasions.
Of course I'm not talking about the quality of the game itself, just its performance-to-visuals ratio. I couldn't care less of open-world games or western games in general.
Brody Stewart
Like said. Plus making a "best of" of the whole series is impossible. Only lords would show up.
William Smith
>Perhaps Nintendo should've done something similar considering that BotW is horribly unstable and has massive drops as well as freezes on some occasions you are either, trolling, baiting or complete ignorant given the latest partch fixed 99% of the problem other than the drops in LW
Thomas Butler
Just like how Final Fantasy started at VII, right?
David Martin
FF have the benefit of being numbered and yes, most people dont know shit of FF pre-VII
Sebastian Long
also BotW over world is far more interactive than Horizon
Xavier Morris
It's still much more unstable than Horizon even after the patch
Mason Gutierrez
Ugly games have no reason to not be 60fps
Also this is going to be a shitty game
David Rogers
I dunno but it would definitely make more sense to allow console games to switch between higher res and higher frames if the hardware can't support both.
Something like this is also how I envisioned the Switch to actually be - with the dock part being a beefy hardware boost that essentially tells the console "alright, now I have enough power to run this game at console settings" instead of just overclocking the system because it has a direct line to power now and won't shut off in 30 minutes.
Kevin Young
Look at FF, most people played from 7 up and square still include older characters in dissidia. It's just a fucking musou crossover, it wouldn't hurt them.
Isaac Morgan
>why is this not the fucking norm?? Because muh 60fps is a meme that only recently gained traction when more devs started porting to Steam and Sony trying to convert PCunts with their """PRO""" gaming system.
Juan White
>It's still much more unstable than Horizon even after the patch last I remember it was perfectly stable, again, if you count out LW
wasnt dissidia 18 years after VII, so 18, fucking years of people familiarizing with the whole franchise after another like 6-7 games ans several spin off??
after it revival FE have had like 2 games
Aiden Allen
Not to mention every mainline game pre-seven getting remakes on the GBA-DS Era. Before Awakening, the only FE games to get remakes were Marth's games.
Colton Roberts
It's team ninja idea, they did the same thing with nioh. I would never have thought people would be excited for a dynasty warriors game.
Sebastian Rodriguez
because lazy
Lincoln Sanchez
A few n64 games with the expansion pak had an option for higher res, usually at the expense of frame rate.
Nathaniel Rodriguez
musuo are not bad per say but they just become highly repetitive, quickly
Kayden Sanders
>familiarizing with the whole franchise after another like 6-7 games ans several spin off??
Not an excuse, nobody would play the old FE games in a similiar time frame. The sales of old FF's are way low compared to everything after 7 and are games most people played. There is still no excuse here in a budget ass musou.
Aiden Martin
see >Not to mention every mainline game pre-seven getting remakes on the GBA-DS Era.
give it some time and we might see more old FE getting a remake like Echoes did
Matthew Martinez
Will I be able to choose low resolution -and- low frame rate? I bet I could save battery power on playing with 30fps over 60fps when playing portably. I really don't care for 60fps.
Jordan Myers
FF is also about 100x more popular than FE. And even then Dissidia still only had 1-2 characters per game with some games being completely omitted. They are not comparable. If you did this with FE and had only one lord and maybe a villain from each game it would be a shit roster with no variation whatsoever. >b-but muh Hector tho Yes, Hector and Ephraim. One axe and one spear. No flying units, no archers, no mages, no knights. The rest would be swords. Wow! Amazing! Fact is the only way to have a somewhat decently varied roster is to do what they're doing now. And I don't know why people expected otherwise, especially after HW was OOT, SS, and TP.
Nolan Stewart
>better performance is a meme okey dokey
Michael Morgan
I hope so at least. It still seems kind of dumb that as of now we can't even get anything from the games that did release in English but before Awakening unless it's the gacha game or fucking Smash Bros. Even some song remixes or any references will do, just try to pay any amount of respect to the other games. Acknowledge their existence in the crossovers so that the new fans actually DO learn about them. That's the least I'm asking for.
Daniel Brooks
The meme is autistically screeching at anything under constant 60fps because it's unplayable trash.
Lucas Robinson
Hayashi said DLC or FEW2 if it sells well.
ALthough I'm surprised there hasn't been any threads on Camilla, Takumi, Leo, and Hinoka being announced, even if they are expected choices, and Leo is the only one out of them with a decent personality
Josiah Carter
There were a few, but they all opened on shitting on Hinoka's dub voice.
David Perez
There were threads. You just missed them.
Henry Taylor
There was, but there wasn't much to talk about because as you said, they were all the most expected choices ever when we're sticking to only these games. It's almost funny that the most "curveball" character reveals this game has had was Cordelia and a second Robin.
Thomas Wood
You'd think they would use this as an opportunity to expand older characters' popularity in the West in order to grow a big enough customer base to justify translating the old titles and selling them on the eshop.
Eli Thomas
Frederick potentially could be, I still don't know what Hinoka gives that Cordelia doesn't, Sumia, Cynthia, or Aversa could have been a dark flier, the whitewings could have triangle attacks and team ups. It's a shame, I would actually like them to use curveballs this time like they did with Agitha.
It was Hayashi's decision, not Nintendo's and some of his own staff did threaten to resign over this
Nicholas White
>I'm surprised there hasn't been any threads on Camilla, Takumi, Leo, and Hinoka being announced because nobody cares about more nuFE shit being added when we already know it's basically just fates + awakening + marth anyway. call me when they add hector, lyn, eliwood, ephraim, eirika and ike.
Kayden Clark
In this case, they're just picking out characters with enough relation to the main character of their respective game. Lissa, Frederick, and Robin are all a pretty focal group for Chrom who've consistently been in story cutscenes in Awakening, and that's what makes Cordelia stick out so much. Likewise, Hinoka's just there because she's a Fates Royal who can fight and has to be there if Camilla's going to be.
Leo Fisher
>30fps is unplayable welp mind as well get to work on all of those strategy games
Isaac Hughes
The only justification I can see for Hinoka would be IS setting a stipulation that the royals need to have their counterparts. She looks so fucking bad to play too, despite being a clone of Cordelia (who looks great). Like they didn't even care.
Joshua Sanchez
What on earth could Eliwood or Eirika add? I can understand Hector, Ephraim, Ike, and Lyn. they each have a niche, great ax/armards-copter, spear, claymore, katana+bow, but what could Eliwood and Eirika add to the existing fencer sword lords?
Gabriel Williams
...
Camden Gutierrez
Yeah, I think the vs. Camilla had to be the only thing, but they could have easily had that with Oboro, who's close enough to Takumi to fit in, and hates Nohr enough to be able to plausibly hold an in-game rivalry with Camilla
Anthony Ross
I'd get it if the entire cast wasn't just Awakening and Fates with Marth added in.
Angel Brooks
I really hope Oboro makes it. The lack of an unmounted non-axe polearm user so far is disappointing.
Isaac Price
Guess you better go pre-order loli Tiki's game.
Hunter Powell
I remember when everyone was yelling at me that Hinkoa would never get in because nobody liked her, even the japs.
Jason Green
I can't see Draug, Sheema, Roger, or Bennoit challenging her, so it's really only between her, Kellam, Donnel (who is apparently not liked in Japan), Mozu, Effie, and Azura who is probably her biggest threat
Nicholas Rivera
>Oboro
Asher Taylor
what do the other characters add? it's about the characters themselves getting in this is nothing more than a fan service game, it has nothing to do with FE other than having the characters in it. and when it only has the characters of the latest games instead of representatives from every game, i just don't care about it enough to buy it.
Samuel Russell
>Hyrule Warriors pulled from only the 2 newest Zelda games and the most iconic one in it's starting lineup >no one complains >Fire Emblem Warriors pulls from only the 2 newest games and the most iconic >everyone is up in arms before even the full roster is out Be happy you got pulled put of Nintendo's no games ditch, I know no one likes Fates but no one liked Skyward either
Dylan Thompson
That's not true, Dissidia 1 had every game from 1-12 represented.
Alexander Gray
zelda games always have the same main characters though, while fire emblem has a completely new roster in every single game. of course people will be upset when their favorite main character doesn't get it over some minor character form the latest game.
Nathan Lee
>Twilight Princess being new in 2014
Bentley Garcia
I'm not a huge Zelda fan, wasn't it the most recent 3d one behind Skyward Sword though?
Evan Rodriguez
There's a difference Zelda is mostly about three characters, Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. They just included one OC and added then advertised the shit out of them.
Sebastian Smith
Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass came between them. I mean I know people don't like to acknowledge handheld games for some reason, but look at the series this Musou itself is for. And Hyrule Warriors went and later added content referencing both of those games anyways, as well as Link Between Worlds.
Kayden Brown
He said the two newest, which it is providing you ignore spirit tracks, phantom hourglass, link between worlds etc.
Each of the other ones had a unique moveset potential, I'm not defending Hayashi's decision, but what you suggested would just be the same predictable safe options over the entire series instead.
What's wrong with Oboro, if Ephraim, Levail or Nephenee aren't getting in then she's the next best option
Brandon Stewart
They haven't even included Azure yet, so there is a problem.
Zachary Barnes
everyone seems to want lords but lords end up being really fucking bland 90% of the time. I understand it though, but it makes sense that they'd limit the starting cast again then fill it out with DLC. You can bet your ass we'll probably end up with at least Ike and Roy, and probably thanks to the poll that gacha game did Lyn and Hector. I seem to have a misconception that with Zelda 3D = mainline and 2D these days = spinoff. Thanks for the clarification, though I thought Link Between Worlds came out close enough to Warriors that the dev cycle probably overlapped.
Evan Foster
Orochi does fairly consistently beat Azura in polls though, apart from the FEH one, also maybe Azura being more of a dancer, and less of a soldier helps Oboro's chances, or maybe I'm just in denial
William Brooks
I think the main problem is this, when you push for a game you should always put your best foot forward, but KT failed to do so. And thus they killed their own hype.
Jose Sullivan
>Orochi does fairly consistently beat Azura in polls though
Wasn't she second to last, if not dead last, on the initial Fates poll?
Easton Jones
I think this is more accurate. There hasn't been really and good hype inducing trailers. Character reveals have been boring and without much flash, and no one who'd really get some hype even from Fates or Awakening has been revealed. Not to mention that fucking dub.
Landon King
Oboro has since then dropped in popularity along with all of the Hoshidan characters sans the Royals.
Adam Gonzalez
I still don't know if I want this game to fail, as they were aware it got a really positive reaction in the original trailer at the risk of it being dead and buried like Warriors of Troy just to teach Hayashi, or if want it do well enough so it's financially sound to whale in the older characters with DLC and sequels
Kayden Miller
I meant Oboro, and you're right Orochi always seems to be scraping by at the bottom, despite being one of the best characters in Hoshido personality-wise
Eli Jenkins
I actually prefer the sprites to the 3d models. Those crit strike animations were awesome.
Andrew Flores
>tfw the most hype trailer was actually the FRobin arena trailer. But she's not a character we can control in the main campaign so it doesn't help.
Sebastian Clark
The reveal schedule for this game is way too slow. Considering how they keep hyping up the large roster. One month til release and we only have Marth for Shadow Dragon, plus a Tiki amiibo. The most blatantly obvious and obligatory choices for Awakening and Fates (and even still they're both missing some crucial reps). Not only are they putting off older fans by focusing only on the newer games, but they're also not trying to keep the newer fans interested by only going with the dullest story related picks everyone's been expecting, over fan favorites like Tharja/Owain or unexpected surprises like Basilio/Orochi. Basically the only only not 100% expected obvious character so far is Cordelia.
Hudson Perry
I'm still holding out for some kind of villain trailer or SD thing before launch before losing all hope. Still holding out for Camus/Zeke/whatever he calls himself today or pic related.
Jace Lewis
How much like ass does the 60fps mode look in Nioh? I'm torn on which mode to play my first time.
Aaron Robinson
There were lines in the JP version that made japs think she was promiscuous. They didn't like that.
Nathan Barnes
When are we getting Hyrule Warriors Switch?
Leo Williams
Yeah, I've heard that's why, but then you have Charlotte doing well fairly consistently which is weird
Jaxson Stewart
>Ike consistently wins all popularity polls from both Nippon and the west >nowhere to be seen
Ok
Blake Thompson
Nintendo >Completely ignores standard gaming conventions >Still can't even do online or account systems right
>Despite this, they are still revolutionizing the industry in their own bubbled off way constantly
What the fucking shit. Why is Nintendo of all companies the one to suddenly be adding graphic options to console games, a feature that should have been around since gen 7
Jayden Reed
Splatoon does this natively, it'll drop the resolution to keep the game running at 60. Though it should be an option
Anthony Rivera
>Ike wins polls >PoR/RD are dumpster-tier in game popularity polls
Don't mistake fujos and Smashfags for people that will actually buy FE stuff.
Connor Edwards
It's Team Ninja. They did it for Nioh.
Dominic Cruz
Charlotte's thing is she tries to act like a lady to court men but whenever she reveals her actual personality they leave lose interest, so if anything she's a failed Orochi to be fair Nioh did it first, seems to be more of a Team Ninja thing.
