I still remember getting it on release. Good times...
I'll never understand why they switched up the gameplay so much, but it was a gem in its own regard
>10 years
Holy shit, does time fly by.
>I still haven't finished it

I literally just noticed the reference.
I remember when I got this game I was so mad that it wasn't like TTYD and PM64. Although, it ended up being fine, because what they did next was even worse.
A bad RPG/Platformer hybrid with the plot and aesthetic of a fangame. People only cut it slack because what came next was arguably even worse.
It took you a decade to pick up on that?
bowser was my favorite character in that game. it's shame they didn't do more with him.

you can dislike the story if you want, but the it wasn't a bad game. the gameplay was solid.
No, I just didn't notice it on my first playthough, and I never played the game ever again because pm64 and ttyd have more replay value.

Thank you for dealing the first lethal blow to the series, I guess. It was nice of you to only leave it half-dead for the next couple games to finish the job instead of killing it in one fell swoop.
>not the spooder
TTYD sucks dude, get over it.
Also, Vivian is a boi

I strongly disagree. The level design and movement physics are some of, if not the worst in any Mario platformer, to the point that even the weakest cashgrab of a NSMB vastly outshines it.
The RPG elements are shallow and broken, you'll outlevel everything during regular play to such a degree that I refuse to believe that this was the intended difficulty level, that's even before you consider things like pixls or the cards that let you one shot enemies even harder.
Every level has stop and start pacing from having to constantly switch characters and Pixl's (half of which may as well be context sensitive).
Most of the levels waste your time with banal shit like hitting a running in a hamster wheel for several minutes in order to get a code for the level's "puzzle" or typing a word into a text parser several times.
Every single puzzle involving Mario's flip is the same exact thing (reach dead end, flip, see thing you couldn't before). Flipside is a horrible hub with tons of empty space and elevators that make basic navigation a chore.
Only the first boss feels like it had any thought put into its design, the rest are just stomping on them over and over again while they sometimes interrupt you with a textbox and occasionally hit you with attacks that do inconsequential damage to your massive health pool.
Despite the combat being shallow and broken there are three different combat slogs where you go through 100 different fights (one of which you have to do twice because the devs thought that would hide the game's dearth of content).
It's a genuinely bad platformer and I have a hard time deciding which has worse gameplay between Sticker Star or this.
