your mom feels like a persona game

Persona characters usually have a second dimension

I fucking wish
>tow Kawakami will never be your mommy

The whole Dagda resolution was such bullshit and then the friendship overpowers all part was ugh.

Something Something kill your friends boyo

Blue vested girl needs more porn.

I don't get why people complain about this when the game lets you be an edgy little shit the whole way through.

I thought everyone hated Asahi

>SMTIV Apocalypse: Friendship is magic!
>Persona 5: Chaosfags kill Gnostic YHVH with Gnostic Lucifer shooting a bullet through his head

Kill yer friends kid

Yeah what was Atlus thinking adding social links and a calendar system to SMT

>I'm going to be a moron so it looks like I'm making a point!

its the dark souls of persona so yeah it is a persona game

I blame lawfags

>the greatest game of all time will never be topped
Why was SJ so fucking good?

Simple.
All-adult cast. All adult problems. Who would've thought?

But this game shits on lawfags, shits on chaosfags too.

As a neutralfag I fucking hated that. The system works best when all three routes are equally shitty for different reasons. Neutral/bonds was literally everyone lives happily ever after. It was fucking shit.

At least IV:A had great combat.

No, it would be good if it felt like a Persona game

Nah. SMTI-III had mostly all teenager casts and it was fine. Still I did enjoy the all adult cast of SJ myself.

IV and IV:A had a greater story and character focus then the previous four mainline games. This is fine but the problem is it wasn't done well. IV's cast was tolerable but the story has a ton of plotholes. IV:A's story and cast is genuinely just shit.

The way Asahi came back was just terrible

She's still sexy enough and I agree with But every other girl in this game also needs this, the little girl was the only one who got a minimal amount of porn.

>Nah. SMTI-III had mostly all teenager casts and it was fine. Still I did enjoy the all adult cast of SJ myself.
He was asking about why SJ was good you fucking idiot. Why would you drag SMT 3 into the picture when it isn't part of the discussion? You're so fucking stupid and not worth talking to. Learn to have a proper discussion about a topic before butting in you fucking dumbass.
>Guy 1: Why was game A so good?
>Guy 2: Because game A had this and that
>Idiot Guy 3(You): Hurrr hey game B was like this and Game C and D was like this, but I won't talk about answering your question about game A at all and add nothing to the actual discussion! TeeHee!
Kill yourself you obnoxious sperg

I genuinely can't imagine anyone gave a shit about her dying. The edgey animation turns it from hammy into genuinely hilarious.

The combat is great and there are some cool aspects, the divine powers are genuinely great villains, but holy fuck did they fuck up with the cast and overall plot.

I played this after P5, so Toki really bugged me because all I could see was Morgana every time she talked
Toki's lust scene REALLY creeped me out because of it

That's right kiddo, this persona power of friendship shite is played out. You know what route to pick.

psychology-tools.com/autism-spectrum-quotient/

Try it.

Peace route was utter shit and I felt more for Dagda than the entire cast of fags that followed me around

Be sure to kill them all when you get the chance OP

I want to FUCK Hallelujah.

>A totally different game with a totally different story was ok with a different cast so it invalidates your reason
LOL RETARD

haha no real argument. As expected of a fool

how come there are no good ways to play any of the SMT series. The one on PS2 emulates terribly and the other modern ones are shitty DS games right.

the entire asspull way that the writers came up with to justify the player still being alive despite betraying dagda was fucking horrible

It's so fucking clear that they made the Anarchy route first and then hastily slapped together the Power of Friendship route as an afterthought because "its an smt we need to pretend their choices matter"

Literally creates a slave version of her son

>save Odin in 4, he's a prety cool guy
>in the sequel he's a dickhead

Why does the fandom hate this cutie?

The quality of SMT and Persona games have always been inversely proportional to how many teenagers/kids are in the cast.

Nocturne emulates fine, psn version is fine too if your in the US. If you're in Europe you're pretty fucked though.
The thing too is the bonds route is so obviously the "morally correct" route that it just shits on the idea of multiple. Law, chaos, and neutral was a good system as all of them were shitty, it was up tp the player to decide what was least shitty though. With bonds and anarchy it was nice to see them try something new but I hope it never returns.

Because no one plays SMT for this shit. Keep that shit for DeSu and persona.

100% agree. Waifu shit is the stuff that only kids and lonely shits would like and adds nothing meaningful to the struggle of the story except as cheap motivation

>that part where he talks about how they used to literally be the rain and wind and how free that used to feel, now they're trapped in their fates because of *record scratch*
>All he wants is to go back to this and to start over in a universe where no one else has to be trapped like this
>even lets Nanashi keep his free will because he wants a free person to rule his new free universe

>fucking make a clone of him and have his subservient clone with no free will kill his old self
>this is the "good guy" ending

Dagda's motivations were good fuck Danu fuck Peace route fucking fuck

They actually used a jump scare. Then the moment was ruined by the death of Asahi. It felt like it was written by some edgy 13 year old, especially the whole giant pool of blood

I've played through nocturne on PCSX 2 and on PS3 and it's run great on both

>literally word for word copypasting tsundere memes into smt games

This was when I decided Dagda was right and that they all needed to die.

I'm talking about her specifically, not the romance. I mean, Toki did the same shit but she doesn't get nearly the amount of hate that Asahi gets.

>It felt like it was written by some edgy 13 year old
Not surprising with the target audience present in this thread and the quality of the output of discussion.
Watching you all putting out your own comprehension of the story and different parts in it like it was oh so deep is very amusing.

Go away Dagda

You know I don't have a hateboner for persona, not a fan of the games but they make atlas money so whatever, but keep that shit in persona or at least DeSu. I know it was dlc that is entirely optional but no mainline SMT should have a fucking fan service hot spring/beach scene. The closest to that before that comes to mind is the beach scene in DDS2 but that was a imaginery flashback where you barely even see the characters.

Name a worse fucking dungeon in the history of videogames.

>been tired of every recent JRPG I play ending with a melancholy or bittersweet ending
>just want a fucking ending where everyone is happy because sad endings have become the new cliche
>apocalypse comes out
>well I won't like the ending but I like SMT's gameplay, so let's do this I guess
>my fucking face when I save the world using the power of friendship and everyone is happy in the Bonds ending

Someone wanna tell me why SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI of all fucking series gave me the ending I've been looking for?

Literally what the fuck are you talking about? Even the most diehard mainlinefags will tell you IV:A had a shitty plot.

your mom's ass. too bad you got out.

I don't hate her at all.

She became my goddess.

>>been tired of every recent JRPG I play ending with a melancholy or bittersweet ending
Persona 4 and 5 weren't enough for you?

If your friends become an annoyance you can just kill them

You have the mentality of a child then. Happy endings are garbage.

Persona 4's ending brought me to fucking tears. Yu will have to ride a train for a FULL HOUR just to see his group of anime tropes again.

>Happy endings are garbage.

Why would every happy ending be garbage just because they're happy? Are you 13?

How did everyone fall for this in-universe? Flynn never talked that much and definitely wasn't the type for rousing speeches. Yet only Isabeau thought this was weird?

>Guy obssessed with unrealistic happy endings accuses someone else of being underage.
Oh, grow up

Not him but it really depends. In something lighthearted and pure a simple happy ending is nice. To me the best endings are ones where the protagonists completes their goal but their is still things to do. I think it's good to end on a optimistic note while acknowledging all the terrible shit has and will happen still.
IV:A technically takes place in a seperate universe meaning he could be different personality wise. Also other then Isabeau and Navarre, who barely knew him, people only knew him from title and work around Tokyo and not his personality.

Would you fuck off and stop shitting up this thread, I'm assuming it's you making these snide masturbatory posts about how dumb we all are so do yourself a favor and put yourself to work on something captain ritalin

>IV:A technically takes place in a seperate universe meaning he could be different personality wise.
His real personality is shown in the beginning of the game. Pretty much the typical protag, man of few words, nice guy
Then when he comes back he's suddenly taking tv time, letting you do most of the work when he's very hands on, and using the people as decoys. It was weird that nobody found this suspicious, when Flynn was hands on in the beginning

Wasn't the entire point of neutral route Flynn to inspire the people of Tokyo with a shitton of sidequests? That's pretty much what everyone should have expected him to be like at that point.

Apocalypse is probably my favorite mainline game, though I have to actually finish 1 and go through 2 before I say that. I really have issues with first person dungeon crawlers but it's been okay in 1, SJ can fuck off though.

Fair point, his personality basically just is "good guy protagonist".

Speaking of IV:A Flynn his voice always seemed so weird to me. I guess it's because he's the most Japanese looking protagonist so far and I imaged him sounding more forign but it just felt weird to listen to him. Wonder why the actor for him from IV didn't return even if he only says "Burroughs".

> He never got the golden ending

Sucks to be you edgefag

>SJ can fuck off though
Best game ever made fag.

I genuinely enjoy SMTI over SMTII but maybe that"s just me.

It's the same VA from IV actually.

It doesn't feel that terrible so far, though granted I'm still running through the game blindly right now.

Nocturne is heavily dated shit and needs a remake with the same atmosphere but improved and reworked mechanics

inb4 nostalgiafags try to say Nocturne is fine when it is really really not.

Really? Weird, I thought it was the guybwho did dagda and the P5 hero.

The gameplay is good, the story isn't too bad, but the gang does feel persona-ish and the "good" ending really does feel like Persona.

Just kill your friends, game literally gives you the option.

Faggot. Nocturne has genuinely aged like wine for the most part. Cel shading still looks great and press turn is a pretty good system if somewhat abusable. Notveven my favorite SMT either, just a solid game.

Atlus really dropped the ball in this installment.

>I genuinely can't imagine anyone gave a shit about her dying.
I did, mostly because she was the ally I used the most.

>Nanashi says "Dagda" slightly differently if you go Anarchy

...why?

Why? Literally everyone else was more usefull in both random and boss battles. Her entire story arc is realizing she's useless which is perfect.

I can't fucking explain it but I like most of the Apocalypse cast individually but I fucking hate them as a collective team

Hallelujah, Gaston, Navarre, all great on their own but when it comes to scenes where everyone is together I can't stand them

As a dungeon crawler, perhaps.
As an SMT it's too washed down to compete with anything else other than Nocturne.
Alignment is an arbitrary personality test with exaggerated answers and never presents any real dilemmas.
All 3 supporting characters go full retard about their alignment so hard I actually wished there was a route that would allow me to tell everyone to bugger off.

Of course he didn't talk much before, you were him.

>because she was the ally I used the most.

nigga why

she's the only one in the cast who has a fucking failstate for her turn and it happens like 25% of the time

literally everyone else has something better to bring to the table

Disagree but fair enough points. The setting and atmosphere are just what really makes it for me.
>All 3 supporting characters go full retard about their alignment so hard I actually wished there was a route that would allow me to tell everyone to bugger off.
Redux has a new ending focusing on Alex, possibly might be this. However I think Arthur and Gore were pretty good neutralfags.

>Can't handle the idea of people actually stick to their principles and ideals instead of unrealistically betraying them to be MC's bitchslave subordinates like in every other fucking RPG out there
Hahahahahaha you should stay in your room because I can tell you can't handle the real world.

...

>Her entire story arc is realizing she's useless which is perfect.
That has nothing with why I'd pick an ally though. She had good healing and could get rid of ailments so I didn't have to worry as much about it. Didn't help that they changed Salvation to only cure in Smirk state.

Must've been lucky cause that shit never really happened to me. Plus no one else brought anything I cared for to the table besides Toki for grinding and Gaston for those snake fights.

>Random Encounters on PS2
>Kagatsuchi mechanic means walking in circles for chests or special fusion types
>Random skill inheritance
>Said random skill inheritance generally favoring useless skills like the negotiation ones
>Some unbalanced bosses. Mot can RNG you and Baal Avatar can fuck you over with an uncurable and heavily crippling status, while Surt you can equip a fire immunity and press triangle. Noah on the otherhand is unbearably boring and slow in comparison.
>Luck barely does anything
>Magatama displays the next skill learned but not when so you're just left leveling until you get it
>Fusion is rarely needed from mid-game on game because if you have good immunities those are better to have than a potentially more damage dealing demon without them due to the Press Turn system.
>Too many puzzles that rely on teleporting you to other places and trial and error rather than critical thinking skills. Combined with random encounters this gets really fucking annoying fast.
>Classic SMT Balance where non-Elec magic is shit and Elec is only good for rolling for crits. World of STR and Demifiend punching things aren't memes for nothing.

I can go on if you'd like. Presentation wise the game is fucking amazing but under the hood there are problems.

like i say
the more guns the better and that garbage has less than the rest

>disgusting harufag

She becomes useful after that realization though. Her constantly smirking my party was great, and I didn't have to waste a turn doing it myself

Okay, I'll give credit where it's due, these are all reasonable critiques. I thought you were just shiting on it just cause but these are valid points. Still, I think it's a solid game and while a possible remale that fixes some things would be nice it's still a great game to play.

>Random skill inheritance
You know you can back out and re-enter the demons to get the skills you want, right?
>random encounters
There is a skill that counts that down and you can get it pretty early. Think it's called Estoma Sword

I agree it was good for a playthrough, but the only way I would ever replay it would be through a remake

>X X O O
>Fixing the problem of random skill inheritance
I lost a shitload of time rolling for decent demons. Some would take 15-20 minutes just to get one with even two of the skills I wanted. If anything it makes random skill inheritance even more frustrating.
>Estoma Sword
That's one of those "there is no way I could know this skill even exists without looking it up or finding it by chance", primarily due to its low distribution, and encourages walkthrough mentality. It also doesn't overall fix the fact that random encounters shouldn't have been a thing on PS2 in the first place. The item that lowers or raises it only lasts until Kagatsuchi cycles which also refers back to the incredibly flawed Kagatsuchi mechanic.

good dog, shit waifu
youtube.com/watch?v=NLcXXz01Tn8

wow she really is cute
but since tsundere is cancer she is cancer

She should have stayed dead but lol Dagda

seriously why have an emotional sacrifice if you're just going to be brought back later with mild fanfare

Nope, it's the guy who wonders how often you get to the Cloud District; oh what is he saying, of course you don't. Also Shido.

He says it more evil like. It's a cool detail in my opinion

It has persona tier-characters but the gameplay and difficulty is top notch.
