What games give off the best sense of fear of the deep dark?

Did you find that Skeleton's gold inside the underwater cave?

Never really though about how scary it might be, then I played GTA V and took a jet ski 5 minutes away from the map and dove in the water, it was terrifying.

>jet ski
played the submarine mini-game one time and it was NOT FUN

The only game I could think of. I dont think I ever beat it.

Does anyone remember the name of this game and if it is out yet?

Diluvion, it's terrible.

This.

It's steampunk garbage for pear-shaped numale trash.

Ff7 submarine usage.
They even have an eldritch horror down there.
Spooky

What's wrong with it?

It's clunky, it's slow and not very interesting.

Really? All I remember was trying to find Emerald Weapon

>Did you find that Skeleton's gold inside the underwater cave?
This is exactly what a skeleton planning an ambush would say. I'm onto you, OP.

All you need.

I'm not the one hiding the treasure, the skeleton is!

My worst fear is dying by drowning or being stuck in a cave
The claustrophobia/darkness would actually kill me mentally.

holy shit I remember playing that one
it was at the same time captivating and horrifying

youtube.com/watch?v=SzSfJpH5TdM
it had some great music too

Supposedly drowning is a pretty peaceful way to go, unlike suffocation.

NIGGA DO YOU WANT A SCARY AS FUCK DEEP SEA GAME

DO YOU WANT TO BE FUCKING SCARED OUT OF YOUR SOCKS AT SOME POINTS BUT OTHERWISE A LITTLE BIT BORED

ARE YOU OK WITH PAYING $0 FOR IT (BECAUSE IT'S FREE)

THEN HERE YOU GO, THE CLOSEST THING WE HAVE TO A DEEP SEA HORROR GAME

moddb.com/games/deepsea/downloads/deepsea

IT'S WORTH A PLAYTHROUGH LEGIT

it's peaceful when you get the water in your lungs and even then it depends whether it's salt water or fresh water (I believe fresh water was the more painful way but I'm not sure), but before that it's hell.

Subnautica.

What the fuck is pic related anyway?

Endless ocean for the Wii was quite spooky in the abyss area.

Everybody knows the skeletons are the ones hiding the gubbins.

Soma had some nice moments

>being surrounded by water
>sinking slowly into the depths
>getting that stuff in your longs while you are desperately trying to breathe
>peaceful

The first time I encountered a Reaper in Subnautica was terrifying. I was in my Seamoth and saw it in the dark...inched closer for a look to see what it did. Of course it was night time...and then it turned towards me and started to come closer.

Fucking shit my pants.

probably some deep sea oil rig foundations

That was a piece of propaganda perpetuated in WW2 by the Americans. It was to do with getting people to volunteer for the Navy.

"I'm scared of the water, I might drown and that'd be awful"
"Well if you do drown it's a peaceful death"

Drowning is actually fucking painful and terrifying.

That's what people who have drowned have described on several occasions.

youtube.com/watch?v=AEtbFm_CjE0
>when it's got ya
>it's got ya.

underwater dyson sphere

Ah yes I think the camera makes it looks like a sphere.

Oil rig divers are fucking hardcore. They have to spend like a week in a pressure chamber after diving.

>those poor souls who exploded in pressure chamber

They are
In Norway, when they were building the oil rigs, there was a big controversy because there were many fatalities, the divers got PTSD and the Norwegian government tried to cover it up (or at least, didn't acknowledge it enough).

>a week

youtube.com/watch?v=NRISmm3dpVw

you might even say poor unfortunate souls

youtube.com/watch?v=SbAxa-_3h6E

How could they describe it if they drowned?

You can drown without dying.

>there might be water skeletons in this thread
>right now
FUCK OFF YOU SOGGY RATTLERS

Silent Hunter III + Grey Wolves Mega Mod

Being hunted by destroyers at night with the searchlights racing around scanning the waters is an extreme experience.

fuck you my dad died in an oil rig
we did get compensation from his life insurance but that's besides the point

thanks for the blog, friendo. now go get your plebbit gold elsewhere

I took a sail boat out and it slowly sank into the blue with me still at the helm

>Hey kid, hop in, I've got free treasure for you.

Make us fag

You some kinda bony racist or something.

Nobody likes a soggy boner, user.

I know how to deal with your kind.

>as we speak a sperm whale and a giant squid are having a real life underwater Kaiju battle

ah, a fellow Animorphs reader

...

...

I don't think I want to go into your clickety-clack sack. There is no way that will end well for me.

...

What's going on in this thread, brothers?

HAZMAT divers are tough motherfuckers as well,
they dive into stuff like raw sewage, paper pulp, fucking liquid cement or oil sludge

Fucking hell, man - the first deep dive (like, first below 300m) in the abyss, even when it was just empty, was ass-clenching scary.
You are alone, in complete darkness; soundtrack has stopped playing - you only see specks of plankton/krill swimming across your visor and you swim in almost complete silence.

just some skeletons having fun

Did you make this

pray for a quick cardiac arrest in such situation - then the sweet release from any scary thoughts and eternal slumber (that is unless your consciousness will still be around to witness your body's piece-by-piece digestion by a flock of carnivorous krill

Been there bro, awhile back I found a tunnel that went straight down into this massive empty box. Haven't played in awhile, don't know if it's still there.

Nah, just some other guy who never was able to make a full game.

But it's pretty fucking good ay?

>you only see specks of plankton/krill

Isn't this a good thing? You should be worried when the plankton krill left or something got rid of them

>launch game
>exploring
>nothing
>hear screaming of hell
>quit game

fuck that

that's actually a really good idea, but no - the game does not remove them when something nasty is swimming around.
It either introduces itself with heart-stopping (then kinda annoying after a time) roar or just silently swims behind you to ask for directions.

there are skellys on the seabed? dude wtf. they should rekt due to pressure.

also, i don't think they really completely disappear when something man-eating swims around as they usually get the fuck out the way from whales or too small for human fish.
pic not related

That isn't Animorphs specific. That book was pretty good, though

haha, I remember playing the demo for this on an old Playstation demo disc. I still have it too, pretty sure it came with my playstation. "Interactive CD: Sampler Disc: Volume 4".

>screaming

fuck

this had potential, shame it's so limited

nice and dark though

not likely as they constantly get rid of those basic shapes as they come closer to designing the surface of the deeper levels

i fucking love the part where you walk on the bottom of the ocean knowing the world on the surface is completely destroyed

I am doing my PADI course this feb, wish me luck!

Say hi to the skeletons for me

I want to do wreckage diving so if i ever met one i will say hi

The Abyss section is so good.

>diving in cement
If that doesn't give you an anxiety attack then nothing will. How much are they paid?

They expect one of us in the wreckage, brother!

>What games give off the best sense of fear of the deep dark?
Bloodborne.

I don't have any words for this, just pure terror.

what game is this?

Lol
youtu.be/YhPdB5fxKA0

Rift's elemental plane of water was a legitimately cool environment. I was seriously spooked when I was swimming around in that suspended water trying to avoid the spooky tentacle leviathans.

Strange things happen below video game maps.

This is literally an existing animal but bigger
Jesus nature is fucked

"HAZMAT Diving: Considered one of the dirtiest jobs in commercial diving, HAZMAT commercial diving offers great compensation including benefits an average salary of over $58,000."
I assume that's the salary before the hazardous conditions bonuses etc.
Underwater welders can make around $300k a year

...

i like subswaztika better

I was sleepy before but I sure as shit ain't now.

Rift, but Bloodborne is structured in the same way. Multiple realms "built" on top of each other, where one's ocean is the other one's sky. Some creatures fall and cross realms, much like what that player did in Rift.
youtube.com/watch?v=kchVNU4rBHc

so they broke his legs?

Nah. He died there. They sealed the cave with cement later.

>Nutty Putty Cave

nah, he died after something like 3 days in the cave
I'd rather be paralyzed than die in there in that position.

Nobody has ever died because the water rose while he was sleeping and washed his home away and let him become one of the watery bones. Just go to sleep user, it's okay.

Imagine dying in fucking Nutty Putty cave

Fuck you, /dsg/ has been rebranded to Dyson Sphere General you fucking brainlets
