One of the best parts about the Wii U and one of Nintendo's better recent innovations. So naturally they kill it instead of bringing it to Switch.

It obviously didn't end up the way they wanted it to. Overly strict moderation annoyed certain people, and any sort of social media/place to discuss things will end up with people going off-topic. YouTube and New Super Luigi U are pretty good examples of why off-topic on Miiverse would never work out.
There's also the 3DS hacking scene, which has gone so far now that dedicated Miiverse shitposters can post porn, bypass the 30 post limit (which was made to combat off-topic spam) and unban themselves very quickly.
It was also worthless on 3DS due to friend messaging not existing there.
I only used miiverse to piss of kids by having canonically hair colored children in Fire Emblem and unobtainable skills.

Because it costs money to keep shit like that running and moderated. If people were paying $20/year for Wii U online, they'd probably keep it up as long as people kept paying, which is a benefit of paid service
You don't need Miiverse to take screenshots on the 3DS, the Wii U on the other hand, you do if I remember correctly.
Depends on the game. Games with built-in screenshot capabilities are fine, but most games don't have such a feature and relied on Miiverse in order to take them.
Good thing hacking your 3DS lets you take screenshots all you want.

Closing Miiverse feels like a really odd move to me. To me, there's nothing that says "modern Nintendo" more than Miis. And to finally allow the people who are being portrayed by these Miis to communicate about that what brings them together, their passion for Nintendo and video games, is an excellent thing. Especially considering how easy it is to access from your Nintendo device.
Now of course, you may disagree with me by stating that Miis and modern Nintendo in general are cancerous ; but let me stop you, because I actually agree. I'm observing the issue from the perspective of Nintendo though, not from ny own personal perspective. From Nintendo's point of view, the Miis or the casual approach has not been cancerous, but their bread and butter. It was what Nintendo was all about. So to have Miiverse be just a short-lived fad instead of the being the new, official Nintendo fan community feels really off to me.
Maybe it's all just because Nintendo wants to stray away from their old image and persue a more "adult" or "cool" status ; fitting the Switch. After all, it seems like Nintendos future lays within the Switch.
