it didnt
Freespace games aren't space sims though, more space shooters. X3 I'd consider a space sim. That said FS with the freespace open mods is fucking amazing and unmatched.
Space combat flight sims died with X-Wing Alliance failing to revive it as a genre. Just imagine instead of MOBAs we could still have a generation now of Wing Commanders, Freespace, X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter, etc...
Fewer people were buying joysticks for their pc's. Mouse and keyboard works for every game, but the stick only works for Freespace.
>X3
Fuck off faggot
Why so mad?
Together with the Galatea.
;__;7
Because they were boring as hell and video games aren't catered towards autists anymore.
You can play both FS games perfectly with mouse nowadays.
turning the Bastion into a WMD was cool too
But it SUCKS. I tried it and hated it
Mouse and keyboard were pretty great desu
Is there a greater opening cinematic than FS1's?

posts like these make me sad, because I can't even tell whether these are just ironic shitposting or genuine
Yes there is

This.
It doesn't count as dead if it's stillborn
Maybe they improved it in recent FSO versions? I love it, played with a joystick back in the days but mouse is a huge improvement.
Would a Wing Commander/Tie-Fighter/X-Wing/Freespace 1 & 2 remaster sell well nowadays?
Freespace remaster would be pointless. Everyone that knows about the game already has the community done remaster.
The Star Wars stuff would, maybe not WC/FS tho; that's a more niche market.
Pretty equal I'd say. I just love the voice acting in the FS intro.
Remaster? No. Remake? Yes.
I don't think it is possible to do a remake or a sequel to any of those games any more. They closest thing we will ever get is the space plane portions of Infinite Warfare. Any attempt would be designed by committee so hard they'd turn into some mutant MOBA cash shops.
A shivan juggernaut has entered the system
Volition can shed some hope in that
The Shivans had some real crazy logistics. A mission about going deep cover into a Shivan shipyard, that would be cool to see. All those juggernauts being built.
doesn't matter. this is like playing guitar hero with a keyboard. 80% of the appeal of these games is controller fetish. don't forget that this game, produced by a then highly respected Chris Roberts, basically tanked the market for big budget games in this genre because the fanbase rejected mouse-only gameplay
>deep cover into a Shivan shipyard
you're triggering my ptsd
are you some kind of volition dev seeding this threads? cause there have been a damn lot in the last couple of weeks. please make my paranoia right
Who did that Bosch guy meet up with?
>There's a single autist that posts multiple threads of this game daily trying to get a shitpost circle jerk going on
He's giving Anthony Burch a run for his money.
It was never explained. That story ark dies when the shivans take Bosch and his crew. Really unfortunate.
Cashgrab: the game
Space is a pretty boring setting, and a long-time staple precisely because of its simplicity. All the attention meant that space's presentation in games reached its zenith in the late 90s. Nobody can top it now so why bother?
I miss playing Freelancer with bros on teamspeak back in the day.
Most of the new space sim games have integrated multiplayer or its for online play only. The people who played those games hate that shit thats why they bombed and there is so few.
