I haven't encountered that yet, sounds shitty. I expected this to be a lot like Yakuza 0 but holy shit everything is identical. The interface, the visuals, the map. This is only my second Yakuza game

welp, that answers everything. if you find that to be an issue, you might as well just not bother with any of the other yakuza games at all.
you gotta keep in mind that these games are using an old ass engine. especially since they are also made for ps3.

yakuza 6 and kiwami 2 are the only games so far that uses the newer engine.

Never said it was an issue, I just didn't expect it. The actual content is still great just as it was in Zero but given it came out a year or so after Zero in Japan I figured there'd be more minor changes and tweaks. I like the visuals, they're clean and simple and the PS4 can run them at 60fps.

Didn't mean to sound like I was disappointed or anything, just an observation. Game was a steal at less than $30 on Amazon for the steelbook edition.

You need the Kiwami Heat ability unlocked for the style. They're fairly cheap.

Boss fights are literal damage sponges in this game. Don't bother playing on Hard.

The Yakuza games all have the same Kamurocho map, after playing a few in the series you'll pretty much remember what the street names are/where each store is. Of course they add new areas in each game but Kamurocho is in all of them

Early on in the game is when it's at it's worst because you barely do any damage.

I have him up to rank S and im almost maxed out on levelling (only dragon style left) and its so fucking tedious fighting him.

I think he has 5 health bars and regenerates at least 2 times a fight.

I don't think I have the patience to get him up to SSS.

The only thing making it close to bearable is carrying weapons and using heat actions with them in climax heat. Does a lot of damage with the right abilities levelled.

If its the first time he should just be in the same place.

Kaoru isn't really dead, it was Majima in drag. Majima Everywhere returns and you have to fight him 200 times to unlock the ability to dual wield berrettas

I've only played the japanese version, so no clue if there were any localization changes one way or the other between the two, but it's an objective step up in every other regard.

Manual should be in Chinese, the box has the Chinese rating, and you get Chinese subs, can't remember if it has Japanese ones or not. I'm just taking the piss since you had JP copies of Kenzan and 5 but not Ishin.

From what I read just have a mystery stone in your inventory, load up every single 800k item then buy them. It should only consume the one but you buy them all. If it doesn't work it's possible it was a JP copy only thing.

i have the JP copy. anyway im still confused about the whole weapon mod stuff. the whole donate item, weapon appear thing still didnt click to me, especially since im not using the localized version

it'd be neat to see a yakuza spinoff game where you get more of the jingweon mafia, with more brutal heat actions filled with blood and gore, and a bleak, depressing story ending in the main protagonist being killed. then again, i don't see the guys at sega pandering to south koreans any time soon.

I'm on the English version so the way it works is you invest a certain item and it unlocks that option in Kamiyama's menu. The level of his shop determines if you can actually buy the item in the first place, but he needs specific items invested in order to actually buy them. Nearly all the stuff you donate is gotten from completions or substories. Kamitachi cutter is from Ebisuya and certain M Marts or Poppos, Squid and Marlin are obviously from sea fishing, but the rest is from stuff like Saejima completing either his training or his side quests (Substory for him gives Champion Ring), anything that sells for ￥40 that looks even remotely like an item from the previous game is most likely used for investing and nothing more.

Certain items also require you to invest their ￥200,000 counterpart, and others require you to buy certain items in order to upgrade to the next item (Chinese Broadsword --> The next version --> The next version --> Invest --> The final version can be bought being an example). If you played the others in English and know what they look like you should know what to invest no problem.
