The original was trash. Weird they choose this to be ported to the switch
Games nobody asked for
I asked for the DLC, but the Monkey Paw locked it away from the WiiU version.

For everybody who isn't aware, OP keeps spamming threads shitting on pokken on /vp/ because he's an autist who thinks that pokken being worked on prevents other spinoffs from being made even though bamco doesn't make any other pokemon spinoffs
Also, Pokken is great, get fucked and git gud
It's because ports are cheap and they know this is guaranteed sales because it's got Pokemon on it. After all, it still got a million sales even on Wii U, and the Switch is hurting for games.
Ask somebody who actually seriously plays pokken and goes to their locals and is active in the competitive community and shit anything
Op here
Why is the game shit. I love Pokemon. I'm a leaf game cost 79.99. One of the worst gaming buys of my life
Is it a competent fighting game?
He's talking about the uncalled for PORT YOU DOUBLE NIGGER RAPER.
>It's another box art OP crying about Pokkén or Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon
Has to be the same guy. They all read the same.
Mario and Rabbids
And the story is lazy as shit, to boot. Not to mention Rabbids are vomit-inducing.
is gardevoir dabbing lmoa
Why is it uncalled for? Plenty of people are buying Switches that didn't have Wii Us and would like to play games they missed out on. I want a real answer, not "wah I don't like it!".
Mario kart DX
Includes DLC from Wii u version
Adds new tracks, battle mode and characters
Pokken dx
Didn't do any DLC from Wii u version. Screwing that audience
Adds 5 new characters. 4 characters were in the arcade version already
Adds 3v3 mode which should have been in original from get go.
To top it all off the game is full priced. Why would anyone buy this garbage. Dumbass tactics from bandai and nintendo
Theres nothing to ask
Pokken should have just been a Tekken game with a pokken skin
Instead it was a shitty naurto shippuden clone now fuck off.
Yes, it has all of the core mechanics, gameplay systems, and fundamentals as other fighting games.
The only real way it's simplified is that move inputs are, at most, a single button and a direction, but this is merely a lower skill floor, not a lower skill ceiling. At higher level play, optimal combos have stricter timings and spacing requirements, and you actually arguably have more gameplay systems and mechanics to keep track of then in other fighting games due to how pokken handles it's attack height system (which has way more variables and chances for you or your oppenent to punish/bait you out then how other fighting games do it) and the phase shift system, which requires you to have a lot more fleixability in your play and combo aresnal and to change up your strategy not just based on the MU and specific playstyle of the oppenent, but where on the stage the 2d to 3d and vis versa transitions happen and if you want the transiton to happen sooner or later.
It's not even in the same subgenre as the Tekken or Naruto games.
yes, that's the thing he keeps spamming threads about
Why do they keep re-releasing Kingdom Hearts 2? Is Square that fucking indecisive?
At the point when Pokken was released, the writing was on the wall for the Wii U. It didn't matter that it initially outsold SFV, it wouldn't have mattered if it sold 10 million copies for the Wii U. Nintendo was smart to not do any DLC for the Wii U version, where they failed was releasing it for the Wii U at all. It should have initially launched just as an arcade game, then as a Switch launch title, with a much larger roster, more balanced gameplay, polish, and a shit ton of modes/features.
Hindsight is everything, but the extra year and a half would have given them ample time to release a super polished Pokemon fighter that would have doubled the already insane demand for the Switch.
Good to know, thanks. I played the demo and thought it was promising.
One thing to know is that the single player mode is rubbish. If you're not going to actually want to git gud and play against others, you're not going to get your moneys worth.
>Why do they keep re-releasing Kingdom Hearts 2?
That's not KH2 though? It's called 2.8 because it's DDD, a movie and a prologue that all lead into KH3 (hence why it's called 2.8).
>Didn't do any DLC from Wii u version.
You speak as though the WiiU version even had DLC.
>DX
No problem. If you want more info, you should check out the community discord (discord.gg/pokken), which is where basically all disscusion takes place, and pokkenarena.com, which is where most of the resources get compiled, but realistically if you wanna git gud simply going off of what's on pokkenarena isn't going to cut it
It's unfortunate that you need to use discord to really actually get into the game seriously, but that's how the community has organized itself: Nobody seems to want to use the pokkenarena fourms for actual disscusion and the resources that are there are only really good as stuff to refer to for like frame data, specific pieces of high level tech, and general guides.
Also this, don't bother to get the game for single player
Why hasn't the Wii U version gotten the fucking DLC yet?
That has Dream Drop Distance and a prologue to KH3. It's 2.8 so sort of represent a bridge to KH3. The last part of DDD was a massive setup to 3.
>tfw 1.5+2.5 HD on Switch never
>You will never get decent portable KH games
The Wii U was dead and Nintendo won't approve Harada to upload the fucking dlc
>naruto clone
>when the naruto games are full 3d fighters with full free 3d movement where every character shares the same move inputs and move properties, only autocombos exist, and none of the systems, mechanics, or fundamentals that competitive fighting games have
>when pokken is in field phase, duel phase a traditional 2d fighter that's 100% plane locked to the X and Z axes, with every character having different move inputs for normals, custom combos with autocombos just being 2 neutral hits into a special that are unoptimal; an attack height system, oki/wakeup play, a super important focus on neutral play and footisies, tons of opportunities for mindgames with setups, mixups, baits, crossups, and generally just having all the stuff other competitive fighting games have; and the 3d phase just being a glorified anti-infinite mechanic
you don't know what you are talking about
when will they remove the input delay
I pirated the first one, not worth the hard drive space. I actually thought it would play like tekken with pokemons
Does Pokken arcade even exist outside Japan? Its really fucking popular there, all the machines are full up and sometimes have a queue.
Pokken or Virtual On
serious question
Didn't ask but I kinda want it. I wanna fucking wreck people like it's columbine with Decidueye.
It's not really popular so much as queues tend to form because you can play forever on a single credit.
Who do you main?
I think there's like two Dave and Busters with them, but it's not like an official american release.
Are there real fighting games at your locals and do those players laugh at you?
...
It's weird cuz tekken 6 director. Is the one who directed pokken
Plays nothing like it
I would've taken a 1:1 of Metroid Prime Hunters even with all the bugs and shitty SP

I'm actually not sure, as says, dave and busters had some preview units before the console release, but I don't think they still do and if they still do, it doesn't have 1.5/the extra characters
weavile
>Are there real fighting games at your locals
Yes. For context, my main local takes place in a exterior metal garage behind a hobbyshop that's maybe like, 60 feet wide by like 200 feet long? The entire left wall on the inside (going lengthwise) is PS4's that people do SFV, Injustice, and Tekken 7 on, so like 20 or so setups total. There are 4 pokken setups towards the front end the right wall, then there's an arcade cabniet that has a bunch of arcade games loaded on it, and then the rest of the right wall is random setups people bring for whatever for like skullgirls, Arcsys games, fun bullshit like nidhogg or divekick or gang beasts, and then streaming/game capture setups in the back right corner.
pic related, though since I wasn't all the way at the front when I took the photo there's parts of it lengthwise that are behind me and just camera's not having the same focal length/FOV as your eyes in general so it doesn't look as long/big as it really is
>Do they laugh at you
Not that i've seen. One of the TO's that organizes the local also plays pokken and most of us also play other games there so even only like 10 of the 40-60+ or so people there (it varies widely on a montly basis) play pokken, I think there's a mutial understanding that the game's got to be competitive if the rest of us can still do well at all the other games there and bother to play it.
I did actually get into a conversation once with a non pokken player there who told me they actually think that nintendo/bamco should have spent more effort on crazy bullshit casual modes to attract casual players rather then just competitive ones.
When the US gets a competent world leader that isn't a manchild who treats everything like a dick measuring contest.
I have occasional sexy dreams about Gardevoir.
This game only makes it worse
Pokken dx can't even get into Evo Japan 2018
It's a legit disgrace to the pokemon brand. Hope it flops and be done with it
>Leaf

The evo japan 2018 games list hasn't been finalized yet
>ratchet 2016

Hope you're ready for all the refugees your shithole of a country will be taking in once the mudslimes blow up Paris
Is it true that it's just a Rock-paper-scissors fighting game or you can actually rock no matter what char you main if you're good?
And you'll all be dealing with floodings and earthquakes and diease after President Dump deregulates everything and takes away your healthcare. Hardy har har
It could been worse. You could have Shillary for President. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I asked for a sequel with a tag team (switching) mechanic, but sure, I'll take a roster expansion.
I'd rather have all that than be a Leaf. I think I'd honestly kill myself if i was born as a Leaf with inherent cuck genes
Well then god bless the alpha males like you that get to burn alive and chant MAGA at the top of your lungs.
Oh how envious must the rest of the world be of the US of Assholes.
>that it's just a Rock-paper-scissors fighting game
No, Pokken has pretty much the exact same interactions with attacking, blocking, and grabbing as every other fighting game, which already sort of forms a triangle, just also with SFIV style focus attacks and focus attack dash cancelling (though pokken confusingly calls these "counter attacks"). The only thing Pokken does differently is rather then having grabs be negated via grab teching, attacks beat them, and you get a slight damage boost by making the right read for those, and that doesn't over-reward making randomly correct reads because all characters can bait counters and circumvent the entire system. I can counter, but what if he's setting up and ready for it? perhaps I can use an unsafe command counter? perhaps he's going for a high risk, high reward set-up and the reward for counter is greater than the risk? etc
If it was RPS, then you'd have the top 8/16 of every major/regional be completely different since it'd be random, but instead of you clearly domiant players consistently making it in for the events they attend (without it being a TOTALLY stagnant scene where /only/ those players make it)
>you can actually rock no matter what char you main if you're good?
This is true, though: Every character is viable at a high level (except MAYBE crogunk) There's obviously some that are generally considered to be better and some worse (braixen and mewtwo are nigh universally considered the best, for example), but the game is so balanced then other like the top 3 and bottom 3, there's basically zero consensus for how to organize a tier list because it's just that well balanced.
Pic related, for example, is the 2016 evo champ/2016 worlds champion's tier list. Notice how like 90% of the cast are in the same two tiers.
>or you can actually rock no matter what char you main if you're good?
What do you mean by that? When people say it's a "rock-paper-scissors game", they're talking about the triangle of regular attacks, grabs and counter attacks and how you need to constantly be reading your opponent's next move to stay on top.
he's asking if it's true that every character is good enough to do well with, which is accurate
Damn. Sounds like Guilty gear's tier rankings. I can get behind this. Time to master the ways of my wife Gardevoir and my all time Favorite Pokémon who's card lead me into the world of Pokemon nearly a decade and a half ago, Gengar
>Mfw I skipped the WiiU but brought a Switch.
>mfw getting all these ports of the only games that mattered in the WiiU in a better console while faggots cry they have to buy them twice.
So far so good. Crossing my fingers for Bayo 2, W101 and Dong Freeze to get ports sooner or later.
>keeping an online game active by extending / transfering the playerbase to another console
>uncalled for
You guys need to use your brains every once in a while.
It's porting to whole new system. The userbase on Wii u to 300 dollar switch
The WOM wasn't even good to begin with but only bought it because it had Pokemon in the game . The game died quicker the arms
Gardevoir is actually considered by a number of people to be the worst character, but as mentioned, you can still do well with her if you git gud and put the effort in, it'll just be a bit more of an uphill climb.
Gengar is interesting, in that in North ameirca, gengar is considered to be on the lower end of things, but in japan, he's considered more high-mid tier. A lot of his tools (namely, the fact that he has iframes and teleports built into a holy fuckload of his moves and even basic actions) are pretty unorthodox as well, so he's not a good character to start with
I kinda understood, thanks. I'm copying all this so i can read it again once i have the game. Also, what's the deal with Crogunk? Is it simple underpowered or it's just one of those characters with weird mechanics that people don't feel like putting up with?
OK. Please tell me that Masked Pikachu is a grappler character. That would be too awesome.
Mario Kart DX
Adds battle mode which should have been in the original from the get go
Makes me go hmm
Great. I can be the underdog and make the victory all the sweeter
Croagunk is low tier.
Fucking why.
ahahahah, you havent had that since coolidge
I hear some of his moves revolve around his "mood," which means he has a bit of RNG to go with his moves. He still looks fun though, so that won't stop me from playing with him. you can kind of see what I mean in the trailer featuring him.
She sort of is and sort of isn't. Her main gimmick is that she gets buff of of phase shifts, and most grabs cause a phase shift, so in a sense getting both normal and command grabs is a part of your goal with her, but in terms of her overall playstyle, she's more of a hit and run mixup character.
>Also, what's the deal with Crogunk? Is it simple underpowered or it's just one of those characters with weird mechanics that people don't feel like putting up with?
I haven't played the japanese version that has him so I can't comment, but I know he has RNG mechanics so I assume that's a big part of it.
Why do keep saying she and her like u know the gender of a yellow mouse
r u kiddin?
pika libre has the heart tail that only female pikachus have
Libre has a heart on her tail, which only female pikachu have
I wish I was this ignorant of pokemon
Check Pikachu Libre's tail. It's a girl.

My supreme nigga. I really liked what little of Empoleon I played in that demo and Scizor looks awesome, but I'm not sure if I can abandon my pokéfu.
Not him but then tell me
Why are both of the fuckig mice in Top tier. This isn't Smash 64, wtf is this.
GARDEVOIR THINK HE SLICK
I only played the original Wii U release for like a week but i can tell you that at the very least, they're not Smash style clones, they have completely different movesets
They just happen to both be very good? I dunno. All I remember about Pikalibre was this sick lightning clone move that you could do some cool tricks with
......
You mean double team?
You don't have to check the tail even. All Cosplay Pikachu are female.
I dunno, I never know the names of moves in fighters because it never matters
Cool ellipses though my dude, shoutout to whatever GameFAQs thread you came from
Pictohphile had Nothing to do with my ellipses.
And nobody is forced to buy it, stop being such a retard and ignore the game instead of shitting on it. This is just a cashgrab and giving more games to the platform, mostly for people who missed Wii U version.
>cashgrab
You mean the definitive version, because Nintendo hates the Wii U and won't allow Harada to upload the fucking dlc on it?
Game industry is a business, believe me or not games are meant to make money for god sake. Definitive version is the excuse for making a port, just like all remasters and shit this age.
>won't allow Harada
I don't know what you think the business of video games is, but it's not that
I guarantee you this was a move agreed upon by all parties because the Wii U is completely and unironically dead, and Ninty's got a hot system out so why not give these games some extra longevity?
>The original was trash
Gonna have to disagree there. I thought it was a very enjoyable game. Not EVO worthy, but a great game to pop in with some friends and play a few sets. Especially great if you're a pokemon fan.
The way you 2 talk about it, sounds like everything is a cash grab. How fun.
It's a great game with a loyal fanbase and the port actually has everything the Japanese version has. It makes perfect sense to port.
Everything IS a cash grab, dipshit
In your stupid faggot world, Nintendo releases the arcade characters plus Decidueye and the additonal assist characters for free on the Wii U version as a patch and gains literally nothing from doing so, especially since all of 2000 people still touch their Wii U
In the real world, they release a (((complete))) version of the game on a system people give a shit about in a month where they don't have any other games to keep their "one major title a month" flow going, they make a decent rack of cash and Pokken players get their fanbase a few thousand larger, as well as the chance Nintendo supports their scene officially again.
Fuck off with your "fun", you're too old for that shit.
Well, Im working in industry and I know how does it work on the other side. Of course most of developers are driven by passion to games, but just that isn't enough, they need to make money so they could make more games and could live. There are some indie devs that makes games purely for free, but these are rare kind and even more rare is that they make quality games. And when they success, they will most likely start releasing games for money, because why not, they got an attention of playerbase of their previous games.
It's almost like it's wrong to want people to balance the passion/desire to make a good game and being able to make it profitable instead of going in the either direction of extremes. do then is there a legitmante reason to be upset or dislike the game on the basis of what your own definition of a "cash grab" is about?
Pokken looks better than Tekken desu.
regular pikachu is a mishima and those tend to be top tier.
>competitive community
>Pokken
Legitimately surprised such a thing exists
its much more of a fighter than smash bros so why not
>he's an autist
