I'm nearly done with Persona 5, and I plan on playing 3 and 4 once I finish, but I'm not sure which version of 3 to play. Portable apparently has improved combat and a playable female character but I hear it also suffers in nearly every other aspect and is missing a good few cutscenes. I also hear FES can be annoying at times in combat but also has some added content from vanilla. Which would you recommend?

The majority would recommend FES. FeMC is supposed to be just for those who have already played the game and want a different experience.

FES simply because it offers the full version of the game without taking away anything like P3P does

Play FES first. It's the best way to experience the story. Combat takes some getting used to since you can't directly control anyonen but the protag. After the first boss though you get a command ability called knock down that makes your party members focus on knocking down enemies. Just use that and have one person set to healing and it's a piece of cake.

Play few, it's better in every way, besides it plays! You can go around the world and shit, if you play p3p then have fun with your point and click visual novel with tartarus.

Shit meant to say fes

Do you value graphics over gameplay? If so, play FES.

Gameplay isn't good in either of them so that's a non-factor

FES. It's the way the game was made to be played.

Direct party control is much better than the inefficient ai controlled party.

FES is way better than portable. FES is the main reason the whole series even gained popularity.

That's P3, not FES.
FES is for the Aigis wankers and people that didn't get the ending.

but at the same time it makes battles absolutely effortless due to enemies not being reballanced fo r updated party controls
at least P3 offered SOME degree of challenge, even if it was frustrating

I started FES and switched to portable. I don't mind the scaled back graphics, and the gameplay improvements make a huge difference, especially if you've played 4 or 5 first. I also like the speedy nature of navigating the static map screens. That's just because I don't have a lot of time to play video games, and I'll take anything that'll speed things along.

It doesn't really matter since you wipe the whole encounter in your turn anyway

FES adds more social stuff and personas

FES is the maniax version of P3. That would be like saying play the original Nocturne over maniax

I'd rather play a game with meh gameplay that a game balanced around the ai under-performing in every battle.
That's as artificial difficulty as it gets.

>less variety and choices in combat
>better gameplay

no

So does P3P.
That's cool, but it's definitely not "the way the game was made to be played."

If they're underperforming that is mostly you not bothering to optimize them

P3P has no soul.

No, it's the AI just being pretty dumb. Otherwise people wouldn't complain about direct control making the game too easy.

I played P4G, then P3P and I still thought P3P was better than 4, better music, story, and the best cast.

Not an argument.

>I plan on playing 3 and 4 once I finish
Don't, they're shit.

>the updated, definite version with more content is not the way the game was made to be played
Either bait or mentally ill

I'd argue against this.
P3 still remains the most immersive Persona and that's mostly due to the lack of party control.
You're the leader and do you job but you can only give commands to your party members.
What they actually use is up to them which gives them a bit of an own personality. It further continues the feeling of being dependent of your friends.

Sure, it can lead to some frustrating moments, especially if MC is ailmented, but I'd say that the benefit outweighs the drawback.

Avoid P3P at all costs unless you played FES before

It's gonna be tough going back, but play FES for the complete experience. P3P is too much of a half measure

You have autism.

>game is immersive because you can only give them general directions
>'act freely'like a normal person would makes them act like retards
wow

Still not an argument.

>wants to play as a girl in a weeb romance simulator
Fag detected.

They ARE retards in comparison to you. Even the movie acknowledges this.
There's a reason they pick you as their leader and trust you only for you to become their anime jesus.
They are Fools

>playing a game where everyone but the protagonist is retarded
And people call Yu a gary stu.

P3P if having control of your party is very important to you. FES if you don't mind sacrificing party control for visuals

P3P changes the story up way too much and it feels like another game altogether

Would I like it if I hated P3?
Roommates ignored you and nothing happened for like 20 hours so I dropped it for P4

The only decent thing from P3P has been salvaged and made canon while the rest is thrown into the trash where FemC belongs.

Not really

Damn. I guess P3 isn't for me then.

Who /p3fagafterplaying5firstthen4/ here?
