How do you guys feel about the 2nd, for those that have played the early access? I'm on the fence about buying it now. First was really fun for couch and online co-op, and that's really all i'm in it for to play with a buddy. Only got about 15 hrs or so into the first, but did a lot of reading on the game (bad idea) and felt legitimately gimped for not rolling a mage or wizard. How's 2's balance? How's the story. Is it...fun?

bamp

Download the early acesss and try it out yourself my dude, the combat is good but the enemies are strong as fuck.

>only got 15 hours or so into the first

Why not just finish that game instead of buying another?

>tfw you suck at making builds

trying to play the early access but i'm never satisfied with my build

also i hope they do voice acting in the full game, can't be bothered with all that reading

Full voice acting is confirmed

I played 30 hours of the EA and it's already my GOTY

Story is decent so far if a little confusing on what to do since it gives you like 20 ways to escape the first area, combat is much better, enemies will try not to group up for easy aoe combos and ranged will always seek high ground, will use the environment better, plus all the different ways to approach fights before actually beginning combat

Thank fuck for that, one of the reason why I can't play more than 30 mins of the EA

>Larian can do MOCAP and some triple A games can't
what did they mean by this.

Being passionate about making video games and not pocketing the budget so you can buy a new car can do that to you.

Holy shit sebille sounds great

Those cams aren't for mocap animations, they're for engineer references.

Fuuck I wish they would release it sooner I know it's only 2 weeks but I'm bored to tears nothing in my library seems fun enough compared to this

In the time since this thread was made, you could have already downloaded the latest EA build and been trying it yourself.

>trying to play the first one
keep re-starting because...

>tactician mode is too hard and i can't make builds
>classic mood is too easy and I'm not satisfied with the builds

>didn't complete the first game
>lol just buy the second one now to see if you like it
Also
>enabling Early Access cancer
>just buy this unfinished game, we promise we'll finish it, we swear!

I didn't say a single thing about buying

Glass cannon is worthless in DS2, don't make the same mistake I did. You barely get any AP and every fucking enemy past the first area has a status effect.

The game mechanics seem a lot harder to break than DS1, so I guess it's a lot more balanced in that regard. Though I'm sure it's just a matter of time before someone finds the equivalent of the telekinetic 1000 pound chest.

oh boy yet another rpg where glass cannons aka like 1/3 of all D&D classes are inviable

What difficulty would you guys recommend for a newcomer?

I imgagine I would be pretty bad at this game.

I'm talking specifically about the talent glass cannon since it means your armor/spellshield don't prevent status effects, which is huge. I'm sure it could be viable if there were some item/spell which could prevent status effects, but they fuck over your character so much it's not worth it.

As for glass cannon in terms of stats, I think it's fine. This game doesn't force you to have your mages waste points on con, for example.

oh

I don't know how experienced are you with these types of games. Divinity: Original Sin, at Normal difficulty, was considerably more challenging than your average modern AAA RPG, but about as difficult as your average turn-based tactics game (like XCom: EU)

I'm pretty inexperienced. I tried Xcom 1 (2011 one or something) and got my shit pushed in.

Go for the lowest, even at normal i got my shit owned pretty hard.

Pirate the early access you dingus.

>Wears tracksuits
>Obviously takes poses
>Using spoon as "dagger" for mocap
Are you retarded?

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE UNDEAD LARIAN

What's an OP cheese build to clear the first game? I read that zombie lone wolf and leech was the best but got nerfed to the ground in the enhanced edition

Get a CC machine for everything above normal. (Mage Hydro + Aero). Stack a heavy bag and throw it out with telekinesis 5 for cheesing.

If you play on the better and more fun version I can only recommend a glasscannon + lonewolf sneak archer.

can someone tell me if its optimized well?
I had divinity 1 on xbone for months until i finally gave it a good try and i love it, i will get for my desktop but its old and kinda meh i just wanna know if i wont be wasting $ ill either get this or pillars of eternity

im running two three backstab movement rogues, i know that isnt the most op route but its fun watching 3 goons work as like a gang of rabblerousers

meant to say three not two

Unironically this.
I guess I should start working on that thesis now that I have no excuse..

the game is not too hardware demanding, but it really depends on your pc. The minimum requirements listed on both the steam and gog sites. Note that steam lets you refund the game if it runs too poorly, but gog doesn't

>everybody i know either dont want to coop or dont have enough free time

what do it do

It's only 45$, you don't really have any excuse to not buy it

if i end up getting it ill be posting on here if any of yall wanna play
ty for advice, i hope ill get to play it, i was gonna get absolver but this game seems to have way more content/depth

Is there any way to reduce the ap cost for ranged? 3 fucking a is rather costly when melee only needs 2 and I don't think I've seen a single Mage spell that's costed more than 2

Do you need to have played the first one to understand this one?

>would love to play multiplayer
>know I'm too much of a save scumming faggot to do it

I remember using some kind of whitch doctor class to stack buffs on a warrior type class to deal absurd damage in an aoe. That might be the thing you are talking about getting fixed but I'm phone posting from work so I can't look it up.

Not really just a few lore things like gods and dead kings lore wise the game is set 1000 years after the first

You should play the first one because it's a fucking amazing game. Lorewise not necessary.

Complete the first one instead.

Is there any way to see companions attitude?

Examine them I think it shows attitude there

Oil and fire. Specifically Firefly. The smokescreens you create make fantastic barriers that somewhat exploit the combat AI.

Teleport is the best skill in the game hands down.

Everyone should get a "mobility" effect for positioning. Battering Ram is a good one as is the archer jump. Everyone having a basic healing skill is useful too for those tight situations.

Pretty much everything is viable in some manner or another. Be sure to get the ability that lets you talk to animals.

It works. Thanks.

what does talking to animals get you that makes it worth?

>Play first time COOP
>Don't reload if you fuck up anything
>Don't take the plot seriously

It's entertaining. It gives you easy solutions to some quests by talking to the animals; while you can sleuth your way through all the quests sometimes you can shortcut simply by talking to the animals. There are a couple animal-only quests available.

There are certainly more practical talents to get. Personally I'd rather explore more of the game than get that extra 10% damage perk somewhere.

I've spent my first co op of act 1 acting like a massive lizard cunt while my friend tried desperately to damage control the sheer amount of dickassery I was performing. Also the teleportation in this game has to be some of the best teleportation in gaming history.

I forgot
>Roleplay
Makes everything 10x funnier/interesting.

No physical, no buy

How does that work in multiplayer with the whole morality thing?Do both players share it, or is it like TOR where it randomly picks a person's response to show, but it's more like client-side on what happens to each player?

aw i wuz just hoping for some type of animal companion function

Is anyone else dissapointed you kill windego or whatever her name was so early? She seemed like a major plot character

In the first game the player who initiates dialogue gets to pick choices while the other player listens (optional) except if the choice is major, then the listener gets to object. It's resolved by playing scissors paper stone.

Don't know about the second game.

From what little I've seen it seems like each player has their own shit they can do as in
>player a has quest 1 which needs to talk to character a
>player b has quest 2 which needs you to kill character a instead

I refuse to play the Early Access because my save won't carry over and I know that I'll get bored and stop playing half way through Act 1 the second time around. The first game didn't have much replay ability and I don't expect this one to be different (and no, playing through the exact same story with a different build that only changes the way combat encounters go isn't replay ability).

Is there any news on undead besides race unlock? Are we getting an undead companion?

No news. Only thing we know is that it exists as a race, we don't know anything about it yet.

You'll get some nods but the devs have said that you absolutely don't need to play the first. Any returning elements will be explained.

Consoles get physical versions.
If you wanted physical for PC you should have gone for the collector's editions they're pushing out for kikestarter.
Check this out, this was the first DivOS.

Avellone wrote the undead.

All the origin characters will be available as companions so there should be an undead one.

>Steam
I don't want Steam keys, I want the game on the actual discs

...

The original DOS was steam or gog keys, you're choice.

If you get the gog version, go put it on a disc yourself. The website literally encourages you to.

>If you get the gog version, go put it on a disc yourself.
The game should come on discs or a USB to begin with. They can fuck off if they aren't going to sell it in a format I'm willing to pay for. I happily pirated the first one, I'll happily pirate the second one.

Then go do that. I'm not seeing the problem here.

I'm playing it coop with an ADHS Nigger that doesn't want to read shit or understand shit. But he loves the fights. So I'm reading most of the important dialogues to keep this nigger entertained. We played for like 50 hours in EA. It's great

So going for a complete dickhead run is quite interesting so far. It's not often a game lets you go to town on pretty much anyone and anything, and even less often that the game actually does it in the story. I wasn't expecting to be able to kill 2 potential companions in the span of 2 minutes.

what is the most fun classes for the first game?
is it even worth going through?

Is the first game turn based or RTWP?

mages have some good spells, warriors fuck shit up, rogues do too but they're more fragile. Don't know about rangers.

Also, in d:os any class can pick any spell/ability (so a warrior can pick a mage spell, for example) as long as the character has the required stats. So in general, classes don't mean much

both are tb

you get to have two main characters, so mages that can do combination effects, like fire and earth for EXPLOSION
webm related
turn based

the thing with the first one is all the builds kinda sucked at the start, it wasn't until you got some of the master and adept skills builds felt meaningful.

I made the mistake of not specialising in my first playthrough so I was severely underpowered compared to the rest of the party.

t.nu scrub

>and some triple A games can't
Which ones can't? its cheap as fuck nowdays

Bioware

Played hours and hours with my m80s
>Dwarf (Fighter)
>Human (Rouge)
>Elf (Healer man)
was good fun, it's the new game and we're going to smash it lots.

yeah nah, they do use mocap
but the problem is they don't clean it up afterwards, and from that webm its pretty clear they suck in general where you can't get mocap data(that thing leap like a house cat and landed just as lightly)

>the problem is they don't clean it up afterwards
For real though, Bioware's lack of mocap made TOR cinematic ridiculous and Bioware's use of mocap made Inquisition and Andromeda disgusting. The problem is 100% lack of effort, review, and all other things pertaining to cleanup.

>keep hearing some kind of remix of drunk with dwarven mirth
what a weird and strangely charming track

>combination effects

I just picked this game up the other day after seeing some stuff about the second that seemd cool and some of these combinations are ridiculous.

>in the middle of a battle with some orcs
>blood everywhere from all the dead guys
>lightning magic electrifies the blood and bloodtrocutes everyone standing in it

Absolutely did not expect that to happen.

The only other game I can think of that does elemental combinations is Magicka from Arrowhead Studios. Too bad they became jews with their money grubbing.

>bloodtrocutes

You should try other combinations
>make rain to get wet status
>use a spell that gives chilled status
>see the character being frozen

>undead literally play like Nosferatu from VtMB

What? You can't even play undead in EA.

ToEE does that somewhat.

People spazz out if they see the undead, but you get a magical item that lets you mask yourself as a living creature.

oh you're referring to mask of the shapeshifter
when's that fucking next update coming, Swen said Thursday

who

Chris Avellone
Starting around the 5 min mark he's confirmed to have written it
youtube.com/watch?v=tiWM2nuCTSQ

Avellone wrote a Planescape and KOTOR 2 and did a lot of writing for Fallout 2 and New Vegas. He's probably the best writer in video games.
