So I was reading some of the lore behind the Brine in Dragon's Dogma...

So I was reading some of the lore behind the Brine in Dragon's Dogma, So the Brine inhabit any large bodies of water; lakes, rivers, sea etc.

However, ingame, they only attack if you get deeper than kneedeep.

Now assuming people draw their water from these sources, how the fuck do they drink, or even bathe for that matter?

Boil the water first, basic treatment user

sounds like a substitute invisible wall used to stop players from going to places they shouldnt go

With a bucket like people used to wash themselves?

just fucking kill stuff and shut up

>deeper than kneecap

Wrong. It's above waist height. It's an invisible wall because there is no swimming mechanic in the game. Other than that, there are sources of water all over the area you can walk in just fine. Most rivers you can walk in. Caves with running water. The aqueducts in Gran Soren don't have brine. You can walk in those fine. You haven't played the game much have you?

>or even bathe for that matter?
I take baths with my pawns all the time, user.

If you sacrifice enough lolis to the Brine it leaves you alone long enough to have a bath.

The brine was a fucking retarded mechanic/explanation for a limitation. If they had something like "Arisen and Pawns cannot swim, because reaasons" I would have accepted it more.

We see Cassardis is a fishing village with a goddam beach, how they fuck can you fish if falling in the water means certain death? People would stay the fuck away from water if that were the case.

>yes the brine had me slightly upset
>Salty, if you would

This also throwing her over my shoulder and running off like a madman with her pawing away at me helplessly.

I thought they only fed on Rooks though.

>The aqueducts in Gran Soren don't have brine.
How do you know that, if brine only attacks if the water is above waist height?

What's your favorite skill to use Sup Forums?
I like arc of deliverance charging it up and hitting somethings weak spot and taking out half a health bar is fun.

Did you guys hear about the new changes in the PS4 version?

High Bolide. The dodge strike combo attacks on Fighter/Assassin. The one that cancels animations on Strider/Assassin ( dagger skill )

Grand Scension and Shadow Shackle
Magik Archer just had so many cool skills that set itself apart.
The power shot one (ranger skill forgot the proper name) was fucking cool too, super satisfying when you pull off a hard shot or stagger something at a critical moment with it.

What changes isn't just a port of the pc version.

How long does it take to get good skills for magic archer? I got halfway and just wasn't doing good damage.

your problem is you're leveling as magic archer instead of a sorc. MA stats are fucking terrible.

it's like this

Magick rebalancer, my man.

Have fun stacking it 4 times and doubling your magic stat, it's fucking insane.

Pretty much this

This. You don't HAVE to be a minmaxing faggot, but you can take a few steps with your first 20 levels that will help you a lot down the road

They didn't even need to explain it. There are many games where you can't swim.

>reading into the lore

Should've gone deeper; the Brine, like many of the monsters in the game, are not typically so pervasive/common nor aggressive. Shit changes when the Dragon descends, and like the Dragon itself it's all part of the push to cultivate an appropriate Arisen; all the other lives that get fucked up by this process are unfortunate but also largely irrelevant, considering the Seneschal's endgame.

>he doesn't even get the loved one right
Yeah so much for the almighty all knowing dragongod desu. My real loved one is ranger pawn, fuck that shitty blonde bitch in the castle. I got whipped like a runaway nigger for that shit. Fuck her, fuck the king fuck all of them leave me to my peaceful fishing villiage with my wife and I'll die a happy man.

Who cares about the brine when we could be talking about best girl

I think the brine comes and goes with the dragon.

also can somebody use my pawn for a bit. Someone used her today for the first time and it was a pretty good feeling.

>Someone used her today for the first time and it was a pretty good feeling.
Yikes

Depends, does she swallow?

Steam name I'll friend you and rent her Tomorrow

>pick her ass up one day during an escort because fuck shes too slow
>ruined my chances of being able to romance her
bitch

Don't worry user on my first play through I accidentally romanced the fucking court jester midget. Pic somewhat related.

Just save, accept the quest, find where to take her, reload the save, run there drop a port crystal, run back and accept the quest and ferrystone your way there

>someone rents my pawn out for the night
>log in the next day
>1 star review "your pawn a shit"
>tfw haven't let her out since
talk about performance anxiety desu.

Mystic Knight's parry skills and aerial rave.

Can't you just fill her chocolate ass up with cloud wine to make her romance option tho?

Honestly shitty level up stats for MA and MK were one of the biggest fuck ups of the game.
Yes equipment can do so much to rectify it later in the game, but come on.

SOAKED TO THE BONE

ehh it would be rather jarring if you grew up in a fishing village and somehow couldn't handle waist deep water imo.
This is honestly such a better explanation than what they came up with.

They should have just tied your stats to your equipped class honestly. Its fucking retarded how it works and serves no purpose other than to force you to spend a bunch of time grinding as a class you probably hate in order to min/max.

>Frenchie
>best girl

They toss all the shitty non-loli pawns in, sating the brine's hunger and rendering the water source temporarily safe.

Ass Muncher

thats my steam name, I'm not calling you that by the way.

yeah sure why not, she likes the spring water though.

seriously

especially for MK it really fucked things up, by the time I had the stats to use it, it was pretty late in the game to learn how a completely different class works.
how does that work?

I lol'd at that name desu

I love using fireworks and the other explosives to fuck with enemies id give you a name if i could think of any in particular

Does PC have a bunch of hacked pawns for hire?

if they're like actual brine they'd only be in salt water

Sent I assume your the guy with dd and nv

They don't make much sense either. Assassin gets more strength than that Warrior, Warrior gets more health than Mystic Knight, etc. I don't know how I would do it personally, but why not just let the player assign stats at level up, and assigning those stats as a certain vocation gives a bonus or something?

>tfw you are such a stingy cunt that you skimp out on buying healing wares and spent nearly an hour taking back bottles of free spring water.
The only fun part about it was throwing my pawn into the water when stopped filling bottles.

The person who rented my pawn gave her 5 stars for appearance and 1 star for everything else. I don't know much about min maxing or how to setup a pawn so I just went down the list for vocations focusing on combat with her. Just recently put her on mage since shes got warrior, fighter, and strider already complete.

Do you think Master Werxal could defeat the Brine?

yeah, thanks man, I'll use your pawn too.

just drop a port crystal at a spring.

>tfw you have DD on PS3 and recently got a PS4 so now you can't play it without hooking it back up
I've played that game through so many goddamn times and I still can't stop wanting to play more. What the fuck have they done?

There aren't any Riftlets in this thread, right?

Can we all agree someone needs to work on a mod to completely change the stat system.

The gameplay is great but who the fuck thought playing as a sorcerer the first 100 Levels to be an effective MK was a good idea?

>what is the HD remaster
Coming soon

What level is your pawn?

Literally the MB coins of DD desu.

Knowing Capcom, it will cost $60 and just have a sharpening filter on all the textures and some half-assed tacked on special feature like boss rush or someshit.

>>what is the HD remaster
Inferior to the PC version.

I mean, that's not true at all.

You're effective in this game regardless of your stats if you use properly leveled / dragonforged gear. In addition, I disagree with going full magic on MK for min max anyway; cannons are fucking boring.

161 at the time.

>The gameplay is great but who the fuck thought playing as a sorcerer the first 100 Levels to be an effective MK was a good idea?
Someone incredibly misinformed, the only stat slightly worth minmaxing for in DD is stamina, everything else is covered by your gear.

>how does that work?
You cast it. Then you cast it again 3 more times.

>Inferior to the PC version.
Surprised that Capcom even went through with that long before a console re-release pham. Le golden face and neverever memes were some of the top posting for DD.

Is there anything I should grab from mage before getting my archistaff on?

Doesn't Magic effect the weapon buffs too? You're missing on 100+ Damage if you don't play a mage first.

It's a nonsensical contrivance that keeps you from jumping into water/so they didn't have to implement swimming.

Don't think about it too hard.
You start out in a fishing village for fuck's sake.

>dex build
>df daggers
>brainsplitter
>repeat until enemy is dead

If it's flying:

>fivefold flurry with explosive arrows
>repeat until downed
>brainsplitter
>repeat until dead

It's fine. You can go all autistic if you really want, but weapons and armor add so much You don't have to pay attention to it.

Here's my final naked stats and the number of levels in each vocation I put in before level 100.

Fighter: 6
Strider: 28
Warrior: 2
Ranger: 9
Sorcerer: 24
Mystic Knight: 6
Assassin: 25

A 70 point difference is nothing.

Forgot image.

>This is honestly such a better explanation than what they came up with.
i'm pretty sure there's a few people who actually tell you that about the brine in game though, shit like they only show up and get aggressive when a dragon shows up

If your pawn has either Guardian or Nexus or both as their inclinations then no one will use your pawn

I thought there was only guardian and collector? whats nexus

Prioritizes supporting other pawns. It's buggy as fuck and a piece of shit.

Anyone else find the sound harpies make when they die erotic

dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Pawn_Inclination

Read up or no one is going to rent your pawn. There are a handful of inclinations

Can't hear them over the meteors desu

What new changes? is there a list? all i see is graphics comparison videos that show no change

he's baiting

figured as much.

Sorcerer>mystic knight >assassin

>better than what they came up with

It literally IS what they came up with. It's sourced from in-game NPC dialogue.

>tie stats to equipped vocation

Reminds me of Phantasy Star Portable 2; base stats determined by character level+race+sex and different modifiers to those base stats depending on what class you're currently in. The advantage of this comes from the logic and simplicity, but the advantage of DragDog's system is you can have that same simplicity (each vocation basically earns relevant stats for itself) or you can customize to a wild degree; a pure Warrior will have more HP/Attack/Def than my hybrid Warrior/Ranger build but I'll be able to sprint and use skills for more than 5 seconds without geting winded due to lol stamina growths and survive a nonzero quantity of magic hits thanks to a bit of magic defense. Mystic Knights, a hybrid attack/magic class, can function on their own growths but appropriately benefit from hybridization for custom stats.

Assassin focuses on straight damage and stamina at the expense of durability (don't need to tank if you can kill or run away first, glass cannon).
Warrior gets more HP because no almost-cheating shield and not hybridizing with magic and dependence on charge attacks; the expectation is that rather than reflecting everything while wearing down the enemy you'll eat a hit or two to end the fight immediately after.

>dinput hookmod on PC
>play how you want, edit your stats after the fact if it bothers you

Also lets you do fun shit like ignore vocation restrictions on gear for maximum Fashion's Dogma.

Come back to it later and get Vocation levels (not base levels though, watch your xp and switch before a base level up) so you can pick up the +10% magic damage augment. Sorceror gets the more important +20% one but they do stack so it's worth it eventually.

It is pretty gratifying to watch them fucking die.

Giving your pawn a greatshield is pretty cool.

Will do senpai

Seism4lyfe

fournival fresh'nbaldi is a rangers best wife

Great Gamble
way too satisfying

what's your pawn's info?
Name/ Vocation/ Level
i'll give you a rent tomorrow
no.
i think you can edit offline pawn's skills and inclinations with dinput hookmod. i think.

>she-GOAT actually meant greatest of all time
>julien actually loved her and autistic mercedes rejected him

SHIT GUYS, WHAT DO WOLVES HUNT IN?

...

What is it that Goblins do ill like again?

hammers smashing their face

PACKS

>loli pawn half my size obliterates two Cyclops in 20 seconds by facefucking them with Hundred Kisses

I don't mind traveling with small girls, but sometimes they scare the crap out of me with their efficiency.
