Can we all agree Linux is the best OS for PC Gaming?
Can we all agree Linux is the best OS for PC Gaming?
No, that would be TempleOS.
Linux is fine, though pretty shite for gaming. Spending hours to get a game working through wine or other shit isn't worth it. I'd rather just dual boot into windows.
Linux users are the vegans of the tech world
I use arch btw
kys
I like using it for gaming, i only have a few games that don't run natively on it.
Meaning?
2018 will be the year of Linux.
(You)
You are stupid.
Linux is alright.
we /gv/ now?
With the support of Valve, linux gaming is pretty good desu. Many of the games I play support Linux so I might actually switch to it in the next couple of months.
You mean just Sup Forums?
It's easier to use than Windows when you know what you're doing.
Installing software goes from going to the website, downloading the .exe, opening it, going through some shitty wizard that probably installs some toolbars, compared to opening a terminal and typing a single line.
Wincucks are the casuals of the tech world.
Maybe with vulkan we'll see some progress, but it still lacks most of the software. Without software you can't really call it a gaming platform.
It's kickin' rad for dedicated servers, though.
>It's easier to use than Windows when you know what you're doing.
That's a contradiction in and of itself. Windows is easier to use than Linux if you know what you're doing. It's also a stupid reason to bring up.
Are there any good toaster-tier CRPGs that run natively on Linux?
This.
>they always rant about megacorporations
>their choice os can't even run solitaire on low settings
>every year is the year of linux, you'll see
I use windows and i complain about mega corps.
i can run solitare on my linux machine just fine
every year is the year of the linux since android took over the mobile.
Everyone rants about megacorporations
It can
Linux has been continuously gaining market share for the past 5 years
Oh boy like clockwork
There's literally nothing that Windows does that Linux can't do better and easier.
Open source >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Corporate nonsene
>There's literally nothing that Windows does that Linux can't do better and easier.
Except working out of the box lol
Linux is the best OS overall, there's no questioning that. However, I wouldn't say it's the best for games. The library of available games is only half of whats available for Windows or Mac.
That being said, less games is a sacrifice I'm willing to make to have an OS that is secure, fast, usable, and doesn't spy on me.
If you really want games, you can always dual-boot. If you have a lot of time on your hands, you can set up GPU pass through to a Windows VM. WINE isn't really worth the hassle unless it's an older game.
i think the point about linux is accepting it for what it is, a fantastic server OS. Trying to ram it into the desktop market by force is probably never going to happen at this point. If people need unix on their desktop they buy a mac.
It has no software available, and you know this very well. It's nice that you're trying out your first distro on a VM and are enthusiastic about it, but you'll be back in a week or two.
>Linux is the best OS overall, there's no questioning that.
Not for desktops, at all. There's plenty of questioning that. Even if you don't like Windows, MacOS exists.
kek
>gets btfo
>l-lel, it's like clockwork
get fucked, shitpost-kun
>anyone who makes fun of linux and its fans is shitposting
See, this is why linux can't and never will be mainstream.
>android
>servers of all types
>super computers
no, it's not mainstream on the desktop but one industry is not the only metric
Vegans never shut the fuck up about being vegans even though no one gives a fuck.
And Linux users never shut the fuck up about being Linux users even though no one gives a fuck.
and windows users always have to push themselves into a conversation linux users are having, as if linux uers give 2 shits about what OS a windows user uses.
The only time I ever bring up my usage of linux (or windows) is if someone else talks about it first. the OS you choose to use does NOT matter. if it works for you, it works for you.
Right, right, of course. By the way, Apple's market share is fucking massive, how's their desktop OS doing compared to Windows?
I love having debates here, I'm always left enlightened about the subject at hand.
>android
Dominating the desktop market is too much work, they went for the next best thing.
>servers of all types
>super computers
Shit, like 10% of all computers worldwide?
>as if linux uers give 2 shits about what OS a windows user uses
Linux users always brag about how easy-to-use and powerful their OS is (after a week of non-stop coding and tinkering, that is)
>play super smash bros melee
>there is a 30ms extra audio latency on windows
>no latency on linux
Winbabbies btfo
Actually, no, they haven't. In 30-something years GNU+Linux maintained a
desktop market, sadly, is slowing down and has been for years. Mobile market is quite big and growing.
>servers and super computers being 10% of all computers
weather system calculations, movie production for studios such as pixar use linux as well.
>always bragging on how easy to use their system is
and windows users always brag about how easy to use their system is to use (after another 0 day or ransomeware fucked them).
i can generalize too, user. Hopefully you'd agree that as long as your OS works for you, that's what matters.
