Worst games of their respective series.
Worst games of their respective series
...
You mean best, right? It's original Doom + even more textures, weapons, and enemies. It's the defining game.
Hey guys what's going in this th-
So is this the designated contrarian thread?
>not Doom 3
>not Super Mario Galaxy 2
Now pic related is an actual piece of shit
That's not Doom 3
But this is not Plutonia.
Thats not Doom 3
...
i didnt know doom 3 had an alternative cover
Plutonia has some of the most fun levels, though.
Doom 3 BFG edition exists. You need to have brain damage to think Doom 2 is the worst.
Came here to post this.
I actually agree, at least Doom 3 brought something new to the table
>Doom 3
>worst
LOL. It's a great survival horror game and not just a mediocre clone of the original like 2 was. A good change of pace for the series, trying something new unlike 2 which did nothing new.
Doom 2 brought a super shotgun to the table.
*teleports chaingunners and skeletons behind you*
I wonder who could be behind this post.
I said BFG edition you retard. I can't see how that's a great survival horror game when you can use the flashlight at the same time as your weapon.
If it aint broke dont fix it, Doom 3 is terrible as a survival horror game because it showers you with resources and relies almost exclusively on you not being able to see shit. Not that survival horror is any good as a genre to begin with.
Doom II has its downfalls. The major one for me is the existence of the super shotgun. It does stupid damage (same as rocket launcher except hitscan and you can't kill yourself) and uses the most common ammo in the game. Being short-ranged in a game with barely any open spaces and player closing distances at mach 9 speed isn't a reasonable trade-off.
In Doom I you at least had to use different guns, unlike SSG spamming everything.
And enemies like archville, mancubus, arachnotron, pain elemental, revenant. I guess people don't appreciate Doom II enough.
You really think this is the worst Doom game, even though it's a straight-up upgrade of the original?
...
Nobody's gonna dispute this one.
I am. Huge Hitman fan. Codename 47 is a terrible game.
I think some absolutionfags actually do exist
Maybe not on this site
Its existence isnt much of a problem, the level design handing out shells constantly is the problem. Also it does a bit over half of the rocket launcher's damage.
...
Yes, yes, well done... HOWEVER
Jesus Christ, looking at your post makes me feel like I just smelled the most disgusting shart a man with chronic diarrhea could produce.
>Codename 47 is a terrible game
Obligatory shitstorm incoming
But is it really? I played Contracts and the levels seemed pretty good in that (though I understand they're probably heavily changed and the contracts mechanics are much updated since)
Contracts were cool. And it didn't have that shitty "spend mana to remain unseen" mechanic.
you naughty boy
Doom 2 > Doom > DOOM > Doom 3 ROE > Doom 3 > Doom 3 bfg
Fight me
how does it feel to be completely wrong
It deals more max damage, but the Rocket is more consistent.
The SSG is kinda necessary, all of the new enemies were designed around it.
It doesnt even feel like a Souls game
Took me over a year to complete because it was so boring and awful
>Also it does a bit over half of the rocket launcher's damage
That's not true though, it does about the same. All mid-tier enemies (revenants, mancubi, hell knights, etc) usually die in the same number of hits from SSG and RL. Keep in mind that doom uses a hash-table for its RNG, so SSG's damage has a lot less variance than you might think. Doom wiki also states that SSG has both higher average and higher maximal damage than RL.
Doom 3 is better than nuDoom
Better at being a horror game. Worse at being a Doom game.
Shut up
It honestly really is. Codename 47 is something that has to be experienced for itself. Play it and you will see just how bad it is. It has one single good level in it. The rest is shit.
Horror games are all trash so thats not an accomplishment
You're wrong and you know it.
Domm II's main problem is the shitty levels. They are infinetely worse than 1's and seem more like a shitty user mappack than a true game.
It aged horribly. But it was amazing back in the day. Both technically and gameplay-wise. Absolution abandoned everything people liked about Blood Money. C47 sucks 17 years later. Absolution sucked day one.
> make levels with huge elevation variance and platforming elements (Industrial Zone, Downtown, etc)
> in a game with no mouselook
Truly a pinnacle of level design.
quake 4 was garbage. What were they thinking? Prey was vastly superior
You probably mean Traditions of the trade. I think all levels in Hong Kong are good. But Colombia and Rotherdam did suck. And the asylum too. Still fun game though.
>C47 sucks 17 years later.
No it doesn't, it holds up great and it's way more fun than Silent Assassin.
This post will get no replies because there is no debate
Wrong. The level of complexity H2 introduced just makes C47 obsolete. If you think about it, Contracts and BM simply expanded on the systems of SA, that's how big of a leap it was.
>The level of complexity H2 introduced just makes C47 obsolete
I'm not arguing about whether 1 is more complex and accomplished than 2, I'm saying that 1 is more fun to play than 2.
>Doom II's level design
>an upgrade
haha good joke user
I can read what you wrote, but it's like we speak different languages, user. How can a more complex, challenging videogame with more mission variety be less fun?
Reading your opinion is better than shoving a light bulb up my ass and then clenching, but just barely.
>There are people in this thread right now that think doom 3 is better the DOOM
There are kids who are younger than Quake III who will argue that any of the original DOOM games are not absolutely perfect.
...
The multiplayer is.
This or Double agent on 7th gen
No, the new game is by far the worst if you even consider it a Doom game at all
DOOM >>>>> DOOM 2 > DOOM 3 = DOOM 4 > DOOM 64
Doom 2 has really extremely shitty level design in its original 30 maps (not counting the 2 Wolfenstein maps because they are like direct ports basically), but the extra enemies and the super shotgun make it worthwhile. Final Doom is the definitive Doom 2 experience though, really. The level design in Plutonia and like half of TNT is really damn good compared to original Doom 2 levels. There's a city level at the end of Plutonia which does the "Hell on Earth" thing fucking 20x better than Doom 2 ever did in any of its maps, which look abstract, lazy and retarded.
To think that Spector worked directly on this one... There's definitely a possibility of System shock 3 turning out to be bad.
> spam 60 revenants and 20 arch-viles on every single map is the definitive Doom II experience
Plutonia is shit. One half of TNT is great, the other one is an insult to humanity.
>(same as rocket launcher except hitscan and you can't kill yourself
and much slower and it's only comparable to RL in damage at point blank
Spector worked on Epic Mickey too. I'm only cautiously hopeful for SS3.
Quake 4 is literally my favorite Quake.
Prey (2006) is dogshit.
Thank god for source ports with mouselook
I didn't play Xbox One Halos but this is the worst halo available on the 360
