Because they are serialized nonsense. Every year it's a reskin of the last which made sense when roster updates were impossible, but in the year 2017 it is such an obvious cashgrab its sickens me. Not to mention they're bad, like really bad games. Football, a game with 11 very different positions on either side of the ball, is hacked to the fucking bone in Madden where your only options to have fun are to play receiver, quarterback, or running back. FIFA designers have 0 idea how soccer is meant to be actually played. 14 was the cross/header meta, 16 had broken pace with some stupid artificial mario-kart esque catch up function, and 17 runs on the fucking Battlefield engine. 2k is actually not all that bad, but its online community is 110% innercity niggers so I mean...

But hey, Rocket League is fun.

I played Ring King for NES this morning. Sports video games tend to be pretty decent. I'm just sad that exclusivity contracts have completely fucked over the genre.

I take years off since buying every edition is a waste of money. I'm getting 2k18 this year and hope it's got decent AI to go with its new "open world" bullshit.

they are shit games that interest people through theme more than actual gameplay. its effectively no different than fanboys of a series or someone who will play a movie game because they liked the movie.

I actually do kind of like sports games. I limit myself to one new one per year though and I switch between sports every year. Last year was The Show which is probably my favorite franchise and this year I think I'm probably going to get NBA 2K.

Hitz 03 is literally the perfect sports arcade game. Even better than any of the Blitz games.
