What is the worst level in Sonic Mania and why is it Titanic Monarch
I liked it. Combining Sonic 3K bonus stage elements into a full stage? Plasma spheres are my favorite.
Titanic Monarch is pretty great, possibly the best final stage before last boss in Sonic games.
only bad thing is the act 2 boss, stardust speedway is the worst awful boss too
>Hating Titanic Monarch
How to spot a total fucking pleb
they're all fantastic
Titanic Monarch is hype as fuck, get out of here
The worst is either Hydrocity or Stardust Speedway, but even those are very good.
Hydrocity was my favorite zone in Sonic 3 and I loved Mania's version. I was semi-disappointed at first that Act 2 was barely changed, but it's still Hydrocity Act 2 aka one of the best acts in classic Sonic.
>Tfw had my first death to the time limit in any sonic game on first act of Titanic Monarch
lava reef. way too much up and down traversal/annoying blocks in act 2.
The current WR for Sonic only is sloppy af. One of you guys should fix that.
My first time through I had around 6 min 30 sec on the clock.
I saw one which was 1 hour 4 seconds and it's apparently considered WR right now. He's been trying to get sub 1 hour for a while now.
It's Lava Reef but to get to your post.
Titanic Monarch is great. All throughout the game I was wondering why all the bonus stages are just this blue sphere shit to find out that the game took the BEST mechanics from the Sonic 3 bonus stages and used them in their own zone. I felt like I was truly being spoiled.
What is with the Titanic Monarch hate anyway? Are people that fucking bad at Sonic games?
>tfw can't beat Titanic Monarch
>tfw can't gitgud
I just wanna play Sonic
>Hydrocity
Eh, I liked it best in 3, but this take on it wasn't bad.
Well, yeah they are. Some people haven't touched a Sonic game in years so they find an ending zone like Titanic Monarch incredibly difficult. I've seen most people complaining about how hard the gravity balls are to use which I don't understand. They're simple as fuck to get as they're exactly the orbs from one of the Sonic 3 bonus stages.
It's not difficult, it's boring and aesthetically bland.
Idk. Its one of the best end zones in the franchise. Up there with Death Egg 3&K.
I thought it was cool that green hill had hill tops zip lines. A nice low key callback to early sonic 2 concepts
I actually like Titanic Monarch more then 3&K Death Egg now, which I can't believe.
It's literally Cyber/Genocide city.
>I've seen most people complaining about how hard the gravity balls are to use
For real? They are the most intuitive Sonic obstacle ever. How would someone not understand momentum + direction + jump?
It's bland
Next you're goimg to be saying Scrap Brain or Death Egg Zone Act 2 are more aesthetically pleasing. This shits all over the death machine zone trope.
wow, we've got a mind reader in the house!
I like Titanic Monarch but how is it much more than death machine with flags?
The first act is a futiristic city with you om the scaffolding of the Monarch. The second is actually inside where it's admittedly mostly gears and wires, but there'a that sweet ass Stained Glass in parts that gives it a Cathedral feel. Eggman is so fucking full of himself that he put fine art in his killer robot.
Have you considered that maybe you're just not very good at games?
wut
It's Titanic Monarch and it's because being forced to go through the same four sections every time which are all full of the energy ball gimmick is awful.
user was implying you're shit because Metal Sonic and Eggman's Goofy Sphere Exosuit aren't difficult.
You said that it was a bad boss and user jumped to the "you're bad at video games, that's the only reason you think it's bad" defence.
>first death to the time limit in any sonic game
>If you don't like it that means you find it too difficult
Why do people always resort to this?
because Sup Forums has a superiority complex
oh i'm an idiot
What is the best level in Sonic Mania and why it's Flying battery fused with Wing fortress and now with electrical attraction?
I dunno if I could ever be happy with base 3&K Flying Battery ever again.
Hydrocity is great. I just hate Act 1's bubble gimick.
It's Press Garden Zone.
At least there's certain routes where the floaty bubble usage is minimal. It's a cute reference to the Game Gear Sonic zone Tidal Plant which used those bubbles.
Same, Hydrocity in S3 is my favorite zone in the series so seeing it back in Mania is nice but those bubbles can fuck themselves. I like the water rising/lowering & the boat though a lot, also the Act.2 boss is top-tier stuff.
I dislike the runner bosses. I realize Sonic is purportedly about gotting to go fast, but I found shit like the Metal Sonic chase bits or the entire boss encounter of Studopolis Act 1 to be plain fucking miserable to play.
Act 2 is fucking beautiful. I remember getting orgasm from watching and listening to it for the first time on leak. Including boss it's perfect.
They can work (see mushroom hill), Mania's ones are just bad. Studiopolis' one takes way too long to kill, and your momentum comes to a total stop every time you jump, which is counterintuitive as fuck and makes it needlessly difficult to avoid the red missiles and hit the blue ones. The Metal Sonic race is a shittier version of the same thing in CD and the boss battle is bad because of how slow it is, and the wall stopping you from losing rings while also having really shitty visuals.
I'm pretty split on Mania's bosses in general, half of them are great and half of them are utter garbage.
I was thoroughly unimpressed with Studiopolis midboss. I think it has something to do with the different layers of movement, the background, Sonic and the missiles. It was disorientating and frustrating to know if you would successfully jump over them.
I find it's easier to run closer to the right side of the screen because you keep much more of your momentum then. And by the way the missiles fly in at first you know which missile will be the dud out of the three you can just roll into it then jump away over the real missile if one's also on the way. You'll get it at some point.
