If you want.
>Also what class should I pick for first playthrough?
Whatever looks fun.
Yes, you should, it will teach you all main mechanics and low-level dnd is still worth experiencing. But play in either a modded trilogy version or EE, base BG1 sucks dicks.
As for a class, i recommend a caster of some sorts, melee classes in BG are really not that fun unless you dual them.
First one is more open world, but the start can be a little bit rough, because low level D&D isn't really that much fun, at least when you play a mage, or monk. I would advise to play a fighter on your first playthrough. And yes, start with Baldur's Gate 1.
the whole story of BG1 can be summed up in it's entirety on half a din-a5 page, just read it up.
Also: You get a story-refresher at the start of BG1
>at least when you play a mage
fill all slots with sleep
steamroll the game
start with BG1 and roll a wild mage
Yes, follow this guide tamrielfoundry.com
Play BG1 and import your character in 2.
ToSC is itself is a reason to play whole BG1
It does directly follow on from BG1 so you'll be a little confused by the characters and plotline for a while if you don't. BG2 also lack any sort of introduction to the controls or gameplay.
You will be joined by a party of up to 5 teammates that can fill in for whatever shortcomings your character has, so it doesn't matter too much what you choose. The main consideration is that it's gameover if you die while on the other hand you can revive teammates so a bulky class that can take a few hits like a fighter, paladin or ranger are not bad choice.
or
or
he could just install EE. also
>reccomending SCSII/Ascension to newbies
BG2 immediately throws you into difficult battles, at least for a newcomer. Start with BG1 if you don't want to gauge your eyes out.
Oh yeah, forgot about that. I would heavily advise OP to at least install the BG1 NPC Banter Pack. It adds so much more atmosphere into the first installment. Otherwise, most of the NPC's you can recruit are just .... there, but won't banter with you, or the party. Thanks to this mod, I actually prefer Baldurs Gate 1 over 2.
Why is she so perfect bros?
Paladin is probably the easiest class for BG1, and it's incredibly useful for BG2 as well.
Those saving throws are Godly.
bg1 is all about ranged attacks, nothing tears through the first game like an archer
a terrible advice, low level wild mage has a huge chance of royally fucking up his own game by summoning a fucking gate in a middle of baldur's gate
True, but any non shit build can take you through most of the game pretty easily.
The problems start to occur when you get assfucked by Wizards out of the blue, which Paladins can laugh off pretty easily.
That's not even getting into those fucking Mind Flayers if he carries on to 2
Most people recommend the virgin mage/warrior, but you should go with the chad sorcerer.
This is my waifu weapon, seriously. Best fun I had was dual classed fighter/mage halberdier, obviously ravager being the end game
>tfw decapitating helpless enemies with your trident during time stop
You're doing the meme wrong, the most OP character is never the virgin
>single-classing in bg
>not dualling fighter to mage at level 9
>not casting time stop and 3-shotting bosses with improved haste and power attack HLA
Guys, doesn anyone have an up to date modlist for BG saga? Last time I played the EE didn't even exist. How should I go about making EE to be similar to BGT?
Also, I'm mainly interested in having Ascension and SCS, but I really would welcome any possible graphic overhaul mods as well, specially for the character models, if they exist.
>recommending a fucking sorcerer for the first run when he has no idea what to pick
>when you could go with cleric/mage and enjoy being broken as shit without any restrictions for spellcasting
The Sling of Everard is the true patrish's choice.
just download EE, it does what graphical overhauls would do, and install whichever mods you want. the quality ones have been upadeted to work with EE. i would reccomend
>Rogue Rebalancing
>1pp
>Ascension
>SCS
>Tactics
>NPC banterpack
>Check the bodies
>Wheels of prophecy
The true patrician choice is Black blade of disaster
>swords
You could only be a bigger shitter if you had said any katana
I never played the game, only read about it, but I intend to play it soon.
Can you tell me if I should start as a mage and then dual class to warrior, or start as a warrior and then dual class to a mage?
And at what point of the game I should do this? I guess I heard people recomending doing it in the begining of BG II, but I'm not sure.
thanks man. tactics and SCS are not compatible, right?
another thing, EE doesn't do the trilogy thing, right? is there an equivalent of BGT for the EE?
Right, I forgot about the summoned swords.
>mfw solo Sorcerer summoning 5 Morden's Swords to ravage everything in sight
not that guy, but it's always fighter to mage. either at level 7 or at level 9. when you dual class you lose all the perks f the previous class before you reach the same level in the new class, so choosing higher levels means you get a longer period of being very low level compared to your enemies.
if you plan on dual-classing you will have to do so in bg2. that means you'll have to play through bg1 as a fighter. dual from fighter into mage, not the other way around, mages benefit much more from higher levels because of absurd high tier spells and such. dual at level 7 or if you can wait, 9, you'll get an additional 1/2 attack per round. after you exit irenicus dungeon is good to have a theif with pick-pocket at a decent level and a couple of potions of thievery. you can steal every spell scroll in athkatla and powerlevel your character so that your main class wont be dormant.
If I change from fighter to mage, after I reach the fighter level with as mage, will then I continue to level up as a mage or as fighter?
As a mage.
tactics and scs are compatibile, scs has some components of tactics that are toned down a notch. like improved bodhi on tactics is ludicrous, a little less with scs. the only component that is problematic with EE is improved illyich but...i wouldnt reccomend installing it anyway, you will hate your life. Trilogy worls with EE as well.
>not practically one-shotting them instead
Thank you. I will do so. Do you have any tips as to what feats take as a fighter that will dual class?
I'm used to Neverwinter Nights, but usually as a some sort of caster, I don't really know how to make a decent melee build, much less one for dual class.
you stop leveling in the class you dual from. also youre main class will be dormant until your subclass surpasses it eg. if you dual from fighter at 9 you will not get the benefits of fighter class (pips in weapons, attacks per round) until your mage level raches 10.
There are no feats as far as I can remember.
Also, if it's your first playthrough, dual-classing is probably not a good idea. You really need to learn the game mechanics well before trying it out since it can be hard as balls until you regain your fighter levels.
I saw a mention of something called EET. Isn't this supposed to replace BGT for the EE? Do you know if I should give preference for one over the other?
make sure you reach grandmastery in a paricular weapon before you dual class. and do this scroll stealing and learning for exp i mentioned earlier, its a pain in the ass being a level 1 mage in bg2.
EET is BGT adapted for EE as far as im concerned. basically most old mods wouldnt work on EE because it moves baldur.ini and dialog.tlk to your documents folder and away from main direcotry. you can bypass it by hardlinking those files to bg2 direcotry or jsut download fixed versions. basically whichever mods you want better look for EE version to save yourself the hassle.
thank you very much
Whatever you do make sure you romance Viconia, she's the best waifu.
>a slut that had casual sex with everyone
no
aerie is the best waifu, she only seems annoying because she loves you very much and is insecure
>the virgin courtship
>the Chad liaison
Quayle canonically destroyed Aerie's pussy
>wanting used goods
I will never understand this meme
or do the less retarded thing and just buy a wand of sleep
nice headcanon, she even mentions that it's her first time
or do a less retarded thing and buy a wand of summoning and have sixty (60) gnolls
>she even mentions
Oh boy.
Face it, she's a whore. Embrace Jaheira.
you get a billion of those wands for free, that's pointless
>be a beautiful winged elf
>be abducted by brutal slavers
>they imprison me in 1x1 cage until my wings start to fester from infection
>regularly beat me to break my spirit
>eventually cut off my wings with rusty knives as im nearly dead
they totally didnt rape me tho, nu-uh, bhaalspawn-kun p-please be gentle
>bossy and thinks she's very smart when she's not
>middle aged widow
>you could have young loving virgin pussy
I don't understand.
now that the dust has settled...
what's the best portrait?
you know jaheira was married right?
gets all on your dick not even a week after he dies
she's a whore too
all the romanaceable women in bg2 are elven whores
That guide is outdated by now. The tweaks and fixpacks in that are not being updated anymore and it doesn't use the newest version of the mods or their fixes.
Reminder that dual classing is inherently inferior and makes the game a slog when compared to multi classing.
If you catch a wild boar, after cutting its tusks to sell him in the fair, do you rape him?
She was treated as a beast, that was her schtick.
>no HLAs
lel, enjoy it
Face it, Viconia is the patrician choice, she is a perfect countermatch for Gorion's Ward - both fighting against their very nature in a world where their kind is not looked kindly upoin. She's fiesty, affectionate woman who is so confident in herself she lets you fuck a drow priestess because she knows you'll go back to her. She's not afraid to voice her opinion and stands a true partner in a relationship unlike a certian elven whore who fucking gives birth as you ascend the mana forge to fight a demigod.
Real question what's second best portrait.
that one, Minsc's
are you honest to god retarded?
>gf gives birth to your baby
>this makes her a whore
wat
I've always liked this edited Viconia one. It makes her look vicious, like she's brutally crushing some rivvin's head.
Jaheira is my wife! I can't not bring her with me on every run ever.
you're retarded
>your
HAHA OH WOW
You can get those while multiclassing.
>best portrait
>best NPC
>best class
>best convineitly placed gauntles of dexterity right next to his spawn that fix his only weakness
>best quest
>best relationship with anomen
>best war stories
>best can use the most ridiculous weapon in the game
literal 11/10 utter perfection
...
Only if you mod it. Dual classes are inhenrently more powerful, it's just that they require more effort to build properly.
I never recruited him, so maybe in your story line.
Either his STR or CON was also not very good, right?
you can bet your ass she god BARDED behind ytour back. aerie only romances you until something better comes along because you're the only man she's ever spoke to that wasnt a torturer or a midget in a tophat. whereas viconia chooses you becasue you're the top dog.
Everyone can use the Flail of Ages.
The EXP cap is fucking 8 million. You only need 3 million TOTAL to start getting HLAs. Dual classing is an awful choice since you'll spend way too much time gimped for barely any benefit.
they're fine. his dex is garbage but you find those gloves in zombieland.
FoA is shit now that free action blocks haste.
So, just don't use free action on that character?
What the fuck, I usually defend the EE releases but this is retarded.
You realise that you're the one that NTRs him, right?
desu I felt Jaheira was a missed opportunity. The portrait she has looks really bitchy and they somehow fucked up "hot elf girl" spectacularly. There was too much baggage in her personality from BG1, and the Khalid thing became extremely weird after a while.
What BG2 needed was a scratch-built character better suited for the relationship, maybe a fighter or a ranger to contrast better with Aerie and the Drow cunt. Like some crazy forest-elf (do they all have to be elves? Oh well) who never talks to people and only gets dragged into the adventure by some shared goal. Then you get to smash her virgin 800 year old elf pussy after helping her kill a million orcs or something.
Oh, actually I could sell that. This elf woman who lives in the woods, and has been killing orcs by the bushel nonstop for decades. She just really hates orcs. Then you guys bump into her and there's an orc tribe you're trying to destroy so you team up, but it quickly becomes apparent that she's not the "orcs hurt people so we need to fight them" type of orc-hunter, but the "orcs are the MOST racially inferior to elves, so we should exterminate them first, then move on to humans" type of orc-hunter. So you have to deal with her prejudice and thirst for murder while working with her, and then maybe if you're not a half-orc you can sort of cozy up to her afterwards.
Unless you're a half-orc, that's not gonna work. You don't want that. But imagine the dialogue.
FoA has free action as a built-in buff IIRC
in EE FoA has free action built in
Jaheira is love, Jaheira is life.
Can't you just unequip flail, haste, and then re-equip it? It's dumb busy work I admit.
Who the fuck are these losers?
Let's face it, there is only one waifu worth romancing.
I dunno, I just saw some D&D characters on /tg/. It's probably some late-edition shit because of the tiefling.
At least they're not Dr*gonborn. I don't even save pictures with those fags in them.
No, it will still block haste. You can leave it at +4, it only gets free action with the last head. Honestly, this shit needed to be nerfed. Same with ranger/cleric tho you can just turn that off in the options.
...
Middle Drow could not more extremely obviously be Drizzt. Don't know the rest.
Given the sheer quantity of people that have ripped off Drizzt over the years, I wouldn't count on it.
Granted, it's died down for the past couple of years
You mean unnerfed? Ranger/cleric dual class is off by default. I just enabled them a while ago to play one. Spoiler: they appear to be bugged and the HLAs you pick aren't usable.
Reminder that she's canonically 15 years old.
FoA was only really good because of the 20% chance to Slow with no save. Adding on Free Action for no reason just means I'm going to take more Greater Whirlwind Attacks.
No, that's Drizzt. Guen's right there too.
Huh? I mean the fact that ranger/cleric gets both the druidic and divine spells. It was nerfed in EE but you can change that in the game files.
