ds2

ds3
:^)

I'd rather play DS1 honestly.

First play Re4 and then Dark souls for maximum enjoynment

both

I wish they would have made a sequel to dead space 2, never understood why EA killed such a promising franchise.

It's surreal how the game still looks good after all that time.

And it was made by EA.

ds1

This. The fact that there is no DS3 is beyond my comprehension.

RE4. no question.

ds2

1.

If you want horror, play Dead Space. If you just want to play the better game regardless of spookyness, play RE4.

if only there was such thing as perfection:

>ds1 level design

>with ds2 weapon and enemy variety

>(maybe you can pick the variety in map assets from ds3, at least every area looked quite unique...)

Both are good but I think for fresh runs, DS1 is easier than RE4, but it has more spooks.

>RE4 or RE4 in space
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

>implying RE4 has better gameplay than DS

nah

how is DS' gameplay better than the game it ripped off

weapon variety and originality and movement while aiming

>Gameplay flaws are never improved.
No wonder there was so many nostalgiafags here, they're retarded and can't understand that "ripoffs" flourish because they iron out kinks of the old design.
Also, RE4 didn't have anywhere NEAR the atmosphere DS1 had, which alone crushes it as a horror title.

>weapon variety
RE4 had that
>originality
lol
>movement while aiming
doesn't make it better
DS didn't iron out any flaws and the atmosphere is Event Horizon fuckin' ruined by literal monster closets. Try again.

>And it was made by EA.
To be fair, 2007/8 was a pretty good time for EA. They were putting out all kinds of new and good shit.

>DS didn't iron out any flaws and the atmosphere is
No need to read further
You're a fucking moron, I'm not wasting time with a nostalgiafaggot who got jaded from being a failed adult.

2 good sides of the same coin.
RE4 would get my vote simply because it's so damn charming and campy.

Pretty much.

It's a shame any editor/constructor has to be in shit times to start working on something worth.

>projecting THIS much

LMAO wow that escalated quickly

>RE4 had that
it was still machine gun, shotgun and pistol, and so on. DS weird weapon/tools were fresh and unique

>movement while aiming doesn't make it better
it allows for the encounters to be more dinamic.

RE4 gameplay was always a two step thing, move, then aim, repeat. It sure had a layer of thinking ahead and positioning tactics. But being able to do both at the same time made for a most interesting moment-to-moment assesment of the situation.

>re4 weapon variety
Almost every weapon is just a straight upgrade from the previous one and performs mostly the same except for some debatable ones like the extra penetration pistol and the second magnum.

Dead Space 1 because of the creative weapons and superior atmosphere. Also, it was an original IP and led to Dead Space 2 which is arguably the best Survival Horror game in 20 years.

Gameplay-wise I go with Dead Space except if we're talking about Mercenaries in RE4. Many fun times with the lads were hads in Mercenaries as a youth.

>DS weird weapon/tools were fresh and unique
cuz they were lasers? dismemberment didn't really add much, it was a variation on "attack the weak point." could beat the game with your default weapon.

>it allows for the encounters to be more dinamic.
RE4's are just as dynamic if not moreso because of enemy variety and positioning (guys with arrows above or below you for example). not being able to move+shoot made encounters much more tense.

DS stopped being tense/scary after the 345,692nd instance of the same monster popping out of the same closet

>cuz they were lasers?
cuz they were weird. unrealistic shit with unique behaviours, and not hitscan. Hitscan weapons are mostly boring
You make a good point about verticality though. DS never had much of that

>people discussing two fucking great games
>still managing to shitpost each other

whew.

it was one ass-blasted dipshit who's fucked off now. why don't you add to the discussion

o..ok

npc making weird shit in the DS games was awesome

DS1

I still find enjoyement in RE6 because even without horror the gameplay is still fun but have no desire to play DS3.

Well I was going to say it was actually visceral games that made it but they were formerly EA redwood shores. So I guess EA did make it, the fuck?

Ahh a man of taste right here

RE4 is my jam, even with escort sections.

youtube.com/watch?v=C_yCbchXk70

ds1 escort >>>RE 4 escort

Marker >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ashley

>That Main Menu theme

What the fuck is that shit? It's like some Uncharted crap.

re4

RE4 just for the variety in environments

I can't remember, did the regnerator stalk you as much as the Verdugo in RE4? Both games had many similarities, just one did not have a limb cutting mechanic. Also RE4 had mercenaries which is the only reason I feel it comes out on top. Zero G basketball should have been a separate game mode.

re4>ds2>ds1

Weapon variety doesn't really matter in dead space since in the end you're just gonna use dead space's Red9, the plasmacutter.

>You now remember that they also kill FEAR in a similar way

regenerator, I think. stalked you less times but it was a more enclosed map so it felt like an eternity at first

>EA
>Not suiciding their franchises in later installments
Name 1 in the last 15 years

I pick DS 1 and 2 over any RE, except of course on the historical aspects, such as RE4 inovating with camera over shoulder and such. RE 1 and 2 are fucking good though, but even if they aged well, DS is much more complex and complete due to being more modern, ofc.

I don't see why it's a problem. You can just pic your favorite. And if you want to perform well, you still have to compromise to your favs and upgrade them.

In hindsight now that I have nostalgia for both games I would say DS1 is overall the better game.
Better atmosphere, better sound effects, better gunplay, beter pacing, better movement and mechanics.

Well stasis also made the game easy since it was an "oh fuck" ability. Although I guess RE4 had grenades that you could literally throw at your feet without taking damage while killing everything around you. That mercenaries mode though man. RE4 has more replayability that's for sure.

the real answer is going back to ISHIMURA in DS2

It's hard for me to compare, because I pretty much only played RE on launch, and even though I wanted to replay DS1, both me and my gf lost our disks somehow...

I do remember RE4 had more replayability though, there were a bunch of side missions and time trials and such. DS stopped at the survival run with limited saves. Which is great, but is still pretty much the same run.

I'm a resource hoarder and always held on the stasis charges for real emergencies, but I guess it was possible to spam it at will if you abused the recharge stations, so I get your point

Fuck, this thread gave me that itch to replay DS1. Should I?

Just reading that gave me goosebumps, DS2 is one of my all time favorites and this is one of the reasons

Sure, it was a great game. Pretty rare for a game to come out nowadays that isn't shit.

Dead Space 1 will forever be in my heart though, it was such a pleasant surprise. The story, enemy design and especially Isaac's character design were fucking fantastic. Viscerial absolutely did not deserve the fate they were given. ;_;7

>Nowadays
>Deadspace is almost 10 years old now
Time flies man

...

Wow haha nice mods I'm glad that's not an actual DS entry

In mine too bro... it's a top5 of the last gen imo, and DS2 is pretty much the perfect game for my taste.

I'm stubborn as fuck and played DS3 thinking that I could overlook it's flaws being a "hardcore fan", but I wish I didn't. It killed the franchise for me

How spooky is DS1? It looks like its right up my alley gameplay wise, but I'm a huge pussy when it comes to horror.

RE4. It's fun all the way through and constantly introducing new shit. DS1 started to get a bit stale mid to late game with how predictable it was with enemies. Also DS1 had that atrocious asteroid shooting so that automatically drops it a point for me.

barely, you will be totally fine.
go and enjoy the game

I don't think it ever gave me an actual scare

It gave me stress but not fear. Plus it's as close as you'll get to the Thing as a videogame. For the love of god do not use the flamethrower though

It's maybe scary for the first 2 chapters. After a while you will be stomping necros left and right. It's always a good idea to check behind you when youre done killing something infront of you.

DS3 is actually a better lost planet game

the evil within

nah, m8, that shit is reminiscent of Spider-Man

RE4>The Evil Within>Dead Space 1
