It was a great game man. I can't wait for the sequel.
Who even argues against that?
I WANT TO RIP THE BRAIN OUT OF THAT FUCKING ROBOT HOLY SHIT FUCK YOU
I secretly hate myself
Also, Whataburger>In N Out
I'm completely miserable at Overwatch but I make it into Master rank every season by only playing Mercy/Lucio.
I also have to put Oney Plays, Super Mega or Game Grumps on in the background when I play competitive because it gives me massive anxiety.
I also think Game Grumps improved when Jon left and that Danny is funnier than Jon.
I cheat all the time in multiplayer games.
I bought Soul Caliber 4 just so I could jerk it to Ivy, Taki, and Cassandra. I hate fighting games and haven't played a single match to this day.
>literally 16: the post
I'm very bad Etrian Odyssey 4 and instead of improving I create bait threads bashing the series and its fans.
Come to think for it, I've done the same before with other games
Same desu. Shame about no SP DLC.
I don't think anyone who liked Doom 4 disagrees with this
it's simple story was somehow better than most FPS games these days
If nothing else it was well-paced.
I don't really like japanese games other than Nintendo
any games that could change my mind? persona looked good but i don't have a ps4.
I think STALKER: Clear Sky is fun.
Dead Rising 4 was a solid game.
I keep up with Many A True Nerd every other day or so.
I fucked someone from Sup Forums at Anthrocon.
I love the medieval II run so far, made me buy the game
Try emulating some of Square's older JRPGs like Chrono Trigger or Live A Live.
Hmmm
this
also the lead-up and payoff zombie room of the BFG in doom 4 was perfect
I've never played a Legend of Zelda game and I don't intend to.
what story
>tfw you unironically enjoy fnaf
I think it's because a lot of games these days try way too hard to be "deep and thought provoking", but tend to come off as pretentious and actively hinder the gameplay so that they can spend more time on set piece bullshit.
Doom 4 was refreshing in that it was just "this company fucked everything up, lots of innocent people died, this bitch is straight up evil, and this robotic asshole wants to keep harnessing the literal hell energy that caused the disaster in the first place. Here's your complimentary gun", it's straight to the point and there's only like, 4 points in the whole game where it slows down for an exposition segment. I think it's awesome that they didn't use this as an excuse to not have a decent story outright, since people who actually do care can learn more and get invested via audio logs and lore entries Everything else is told by Doomguy's very emotive gestures which is an absolutely fantastic example of "show don't tell".
STALKER games, all of them, are terrible.
I prefer Diablo 3 to Diablo 2 and Path of Exile
I have spent more time with and have enjoyed more Starcraft 2 than 1 (and 1 was a major reason why I flunked out of college on the first round)
I feel you felloe texan
Doom 4 was a fucking joke that cannot be taken seriously. The entire setting is executed worse than something you'd see out of comic books written today.
Will try, thanks user.
Doom '16 works on multiple levels. At its most basic, Doomguy wakes up and goes from level to level stuffing keycards into his face and slaughtering things.
You really couldn't get away with something like Wolfenstein The New Order et al., where you can use the ironic tone of the dieselpunk sci-fi feel juxtaposed with the monsters the Nazis were, to tell this story about a tired, traumatized soldier just running on fumes. It really wouldn't work when you're fighting some as dehumanized as literal demons from hell.
But there's a lot of interesting lore ranging from Doomguy-fellating to just a story about what Hell is and light implications about what Doom '16 is to the other Doom games. At the bare minimum, you have the story of Argent D'nur, its knights, priests of hell, a great war, betrayal and Lovecraftian abominations bringing it to edging onto Quake-like themes.
I've never been much for the Chuck Norris joke-tier Doomguy stuff Sup Forums likes to toss around but I really did enjoy what they did with the Doom Slayer.
I thought the knights were extremely out of place. Doom was fun and tongue in cheek with all those demonic invasion in progress and volunteer sacrifices and shit but the knights in armor just took me right out.
It still floors me that Doomguy manages to be more expressive than most shooter protagonists without a single line of dialogue. The title drop is seriously one of the best executed moments of the entire game.
youtube.com
Why is that?
I thought it was serviceable, but a lot of it felt hamfisted. Doomslayer who rips and tears? Really?
Too much plot. No ripping and tearing during plot.
Is that even an unpopular opinion? I mean I guess it's not amazing, but I haven't heard anybody complain about it.
I unironically think that Old School Runescape is the best MMO ever made.
The sheer amount of things you can do is astounding, and it gives players the freedom to make the character they want, ignoring any aspect of the game at little relative cost to them.
Don't even get me started on the quest.
No MMO does quests like Runescape,
because they feel like quests, even the parody fetch quests like One Small Favour.
>to just a story about what Hell is and light implications about what Doom '16 is to the other Doom games
Please do elaborate
I've never been assed to finish a Zelda title, the games are so uninteresting to me
I dropped Bayonetta after the first fight section
I dropped Furi at The Song
I haven't and will never play the Witcher games because an RPG that doesn't let you create your own character is worthless.
>Whataburger>In N Out
muh nigga
I really enjoyed Wolfenstein: TNO and it's story, had just as much fun in Old Blood; but I think New Colossus looks like shit because they took away any amount of seriousness in the tone that made me enjoy the other two so much.
>The entire setting is executed worse than something you'd see out of comic books written today
that's the point you fucking idiot
Even though I believe Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls game, I have never logged more than an hour onto a character. Skyrim is also probably my most played game of all time. Even though I know it's trash I keep coming back to it.
Man, that's some cognitive dissonance right there if I've ever seen it.
I died over 10 times to Wolnir. I beat Pontiff and Dancer on first try.
Hell is implied to be a dimension absorbing other dimensions, corrupting those being absorbed into demons before they become just another part of hell.
Doom '16 is implied to be a sequel in the actual canon, AFTER Doomguy has slain hell's most ravenous beings. Like, the Slayer's testament starts with the Age of the First Demonic Lord and ends with the Fourth.
The Doom Marine might not be from the same world as the Night Sentinels, he merely just fought alongside them.
In Doom 3, you see the prototypical Doom Marine as a legendary hero in the Martian ruins, and it's replicated again in the Lazarus labs as an easter egg or whatever.
A common interpretation is that Doom 4's Doom Marine is Doom 1/2/64's Doomguy, participating in the endless war across time and space and multiple dimensions, joining up with Argent D'nur, his modest marine armor upgraded to the Praetor armor, and eventually dragged to the Doom '16 universe after his betrayal.
Of course, it might just be people taking things like the Icon of Sin cameos too far.
But it's certainly fun to try to link these things together.
>rent Das3 because want to try "the super hard game"
>get my ass kicked by tutorial boss hard
>take a break because slightly pissed
>restart and pick bombs to defeat him
>Beat literally all the other bosses in 1 or 2 tries by myself
Eh, you never know; the trailers for TNO were more about the shootin' and the stabbin' than they were the pathos and emotional moments.
I'll forgive the knights if they make a Heretic / Hexen reboot in the same vein.
>It still floors me that Doomguy manages to be more expressive than most shooter protagonists without a single line of dialogue.
I think it helps that Doomguy is just thinking what the player is thinking, and that is, "Okay, let's fuck these fuckers up." The scene where you can't shut down one of the reactors or whatever and Hayden is telling you how complex and intricate and dangerous it is and then you just kick its shit in and shut it down with brute force is fantastic for that reason.
The Icon of Sin cameo can be backed up in the lore things. The Betrayer betrayed the Night Sentinels to revive his son. The form they revived his son was the Icon of Sin, aka, The First Demonic Lord
>rent
Wait, this is still a thing? In what third world state?
path of exile is ass
I still don't understand Ulysses's motives all these years later. Does he hate us for delivering the thing that triggered the nuke? Does he hate us for not becoming him and moping around the divide? I think he wants us to bring him ED-E so he can nuke both the NCR and the Legion or something, but that's all that gets through to me.
should i get into runescape now?
>STALKER games, all of them, are terrible
You're terrible.
Texas
redboxes are still a thing, theres like 6 near me within 10 mins
If you don't know what Redbox is you're really a third-worlder.
I'm so sorry for your situation.
That's not really what I meant, I was more talking about how they seemed to turn a lot of the characters into comic reliefs from the gameplay videos they have shown so far. When in the other games you would have a few jokes here and there but it never took the focus, and the only time it really did was with Set, but seeing as it was mainly him it wasn't overwhelming at all.
I'm a well known journalist and come to Sup Forums to help me formulate and strengthen my opinions. Even with all the shit posting that goes on, the anonymous nature of the site still provides the best environment for real debate and conversation.
This is also my go to place for finding trap friends to beat off on camera for me.
you better share your videos
Fuck off Austin.
Better have been a fucking girl.
SoulsBorne as a series are neither difficult nor challenging if you don't just autistically run through everything. There are very few things in the game that actually feel difficult for more than maybe one death.
t. Todd
Isn't it a choice driven action adventure game?
>I've never been much for the Chuck Norris joke-tier Doomguy stuff Sup Forums likes to toss around but I really did enjoy what they did with the Doom Slayer.
Same here. It was handled perfectly and the way the Slayer's Testament was written and performed got me super hyped. I think Doom 4 did an amazing job of letting you grasp the full scope of what you're actually doing and how fucking hardcore that makes you for doing it.
Just go on sites other than Sup Forums and ask for help.
would you rather me buy it from gamerstop?
or play it with shitty pc controls
>people praising this game
How? It's so bland. None of the characters are interesting. The game's mission structure is MMO-tier and the story explaining it is MMO-tier.
>"You can't activate X because there are monster nests! Destroy 3 of them!!!!
>"You need to activate 3 of X in order to Y"
>"Go retrieve this macguffin!"
And you're only ever in Hell like 3 time, and it's boring as fuck.
Doom 4 fags are cancer
Yes, it's not an RPG anymore than GTAV is an RPG.
He's not the villain in this story
We're getting a sequel, right?
I'm only really good at strategy games. Despite how much I love them, I've never fully completed Furi, Ori and the Blind Forest, etc. They're just really hard for me. But, I manage to destroy games like Etrian Odyssey and XCOM 2 in about a week or two.
Despite a lot of playtime, I'm not actually very good at video games.
The only levels like that are Foundry and Argent Facility (Not destroyed). Every other one says an objective but it really is point A to point B.
Also, how is Doomslayer, the only character you should give a shit about, not interesting?
It's OK m8, things will get better for you.
You find doomguy's sarcophogus in doom3 near the end "tomb of the hero" it's held in place by some machinery and shit. This is what Hayden and others find and wake up in Doom2016.
So even doom3 and it's expansion are canon they're just sef contained.
Doom1/2/64 is literally the same guy you play in Doom2016, it all but confirms it flat out.
Even the damn soulcube from doom3 was recovered and is in Olivia's office. You also see a larvae of the Mother Demon from Doom64 in a glass tube in her office.
>Literally the only New Vegas DLC that was any good was the weird one with the toaster that wanted to destroy the world
>Skyrim is better than Oblivion
>I unironically enjoy playing Smite
>The only Valve game that I have ever played is Portal
>I've only ever completed one Mario game which was Super Mario World when I was 10.
>And you're only ever in Hell like 3 time, and it's boring as fuck.
Now I know you're baiting. Hell was cool as fuck.
nu-XCOM is casual as fuck m8
According to a guy claiming to be on the inside yes, said it opens with Doomguy hurdling toward earth in just his suit after Hayden touches down and reopens hell shit with the Crucible.
Could or could not be true but I'm remembering that whole description just in case.
The New Order was a game where the main character is forced to watch someone of his choice be vivisected, forced to watch innocents be brutally murdered by the Nazi regime, is interred in a concentration camp, and doesn't even know if there's anything left in the world worth fighting for, and doesn't even know what he'll do with his life if and when he wins.
In the New Colossus, he's survived, Anya is alive, she's pregnant, he's defeated his archnemesis, and they're on the way to liberate America. He's a one man army tearing through Nazis like Doomguy. Of course it's going to be a bit more irreverent and optimistic, you have the whole opportunity to play Americana kitsch like the Lassie, game show, Batman parodies with a Nazi bent, along with stock Cold War characters like the black nationalist or the socialist. Fergus has a robot arm. Wyatt is now experimenting with LSD and trying to be hip. The special edition is a Nazi world GI Joe parody called Elite Hans where BJ Blazkowicz is a villain action figure named "Terror-Billy"
But BJ is a proud American and fervently anti-Nazi. He violently threatens J for daring to compare the US to the Nazis. Imagine what he feels, coming back to the US where so many people have acquiesced to the new order. People casually talking about trading slaves or reporting "degenerate" activity. Sure, there's pockets of resistance but the fact that so much of the country is so casually okay with the Nazis because it doesn't hurt them directly?
That's definitely going to be a plot point.
>the only good new vegas DLC was reddit: the expansion
Obviously Doomguy needs to save Mr Bunbun now.
Sure
>According to a guy
so nothing is confirmed?
Nothing, he tripfagged and was claiming to leak details, some of it sounded cool but I don't expect any of it to be real, said D44M 2 will be out in the first half of 2018.
I love Guild Wars 2 despite all it's problems
and I'm glad thief got a rifle
Damn right. Bet your losses were in single figures.
probably the most pathetic human being in this thread, please end it
Ulysses just hates, and for a while wants everyone else to know what it's like to actually have something, and then have it all be taken away for no reason.
He also wants to make sure that you know that you are the cause of all the death he's going to rain down.
You can talk him down, leading to his realization that people are changed by the lives they lead, and that who you are is always your choice.
I think DS3 is amazing despite its flaws.
>SoulsBorne
go back to the subreddit you came from
ayy someone who watches MATN as well
I don't know. I learned not to count my losses and that's how I beat the game. But, a game being "harder", or rather imbalanced, doesn't make it less casual.
I can't beat the opening mission of XCOM 2: WotC on Legendary, so I tried to cheat engine my troops into unstoppable killing machines but the game keeps crashing. Been trying for an hour.
I picked the money ending in GTA IV
I enjoy Fallout 4 more than 3 and NV only for the Brotherhood story line and missions.
>I can't wait for the sequel.
It would be hillarious if they called it DOOM 2.
