9 more days until we can play! How many of you are holding off killing yourselves for this? What character do you plan on rolling?

Not sure who I'll roll with first. I played as Lohse in the EA so I'll probably do the same on release. The bigger question is which companions I'll take. I'll have to see what Fane and Beast are like compared to the others.

9 more days until another shit Larian game filled with
>Shitty cliche story
>Boring one dimensional characters
>Retarded meme lol so randumb humor
>Dialogue so bad Chris Chan would blush

I just bought this game! I've played a bit, I'm excited for the full release. I really like the witch class idea (geo and necro) but I'd like necro and frost even more.
I'm a pretty big noob when it comes to games like these. Really never played an RPG like this.

can you elaborate?

kys

>tfw want to play as a skeleton after watching the video on it
>tfw know I should wait until second playthrough for it

I wanna play as a skelly real bad but I'm and would definitely just be frustrated the entire time.

WRPG always fail to create riveting and memorable characters
maybe it's because so many of them have creator characters but its just sad
the Witcher manages, and Dragon Age sometimes gets there
but otherwise nope

The truth hurts. Play better crpgs

What is KotoR 1 and 2? What is Mass Effect 1 and 2? What is Baldur's Gate? Also the witcher is less of a rpg than Skyrim

>piss of eternity
>good

...

Yeah it actually is. But what would you know about good rpgs child who likes divinity?

>n-no y-you!
kys

Im gonna play as an archer/water healer with my friends, and for my solo playtrough gonna go skelleton summoner/necromancer

Don't worry about being a noob, if the game is anything like the first one you'll be able to figure it out easily enough. Play a skelly user.

Why aren't melee characters viable at all?

Never played Planescape?

thank you my friend. I'm overwhelmed by games like these. still, i like going through them with trial and error. a tiny bit of guidance to get over that beginner's anxiety is nice, but it seems a game that's absolutely ruined if one doesn't strike out on their own (or with friends)

>nu-sidian
>not forcing diversity

They are tho

warfare and scoundrel are strong as fuck bro

It's really not that bad

This, scoundrel is fucking broken now.

Haven't played these games but seem neat. Can someone answer some questions helping me fit it in my schedule?
How long is Divinity Original Sin's main campaign? How many hours do major side quests add? Minor side quests? And how much time is spent grinding? How much time did you spend goofing around?

>Still reply to PoE bait fag
Stop it you dingus

>How many of you are holding off killing yourselves for this?
*user kills himself after massive disappointment on release day*

I don't think he even likes PoE. He just does it to trigger the Divinity fans' autism

is necro / hydro with an int focus viable?

Its actually amusing to see contrarians shit on Larian and OS when they are both objectively decent.

That's a very poor estimate that doesn't really answer my question. I'm sorry you tried hard to help but failed to post anything useful.

Every thread this pasta comes up.

How I got into rpgs is I started with Icewind Dale, and it turned out the thing's a meat grinder. No trouble ever since.

i dropped the first one because i couldnt beat the girl who summons 10 monsters (played on hard)

should i bother getting this new one?

No if you are really that shit. Or you had bad build. The second one might be even more harder than the first, but there is also a super ez mode.

I went the other way and ended up getting my ass whooped by crabs

I didn't really drop it because it was "too hard", its just that I rerolled too much and by the time i figured out the minmaxing i was burnt out and lost interest.

I really hope this game is enjoyable for a solo player.

The first one seemed to basically force you to play duo if you want to get the full experience.

So basically you started playing minesweeper and complained the story was bad? Really?

This is an RPG, not a Telltale adventure time book. Dialogue is irrelevant in a real RPG.

Wow you are the first person to realize this congrats. I fucking hate PoE. I pirated the game and couldn't even get past the tutorial because it was so shit. I actually love OS and is super hype for OS2 but the shill threads are pissing me off and I enjoy shitposting

can i get a quick rundown on this diversity meme

never played OS1 but didn't the enhanced edition make playing solo way better?

Pretty long. I'd say 60 hours

>Ultra generic fantasy setting
>Renames everything into something else just to pretend its 'unique'
>dialogue options mean nothing
>fucking essays worth of dialogue that serve zero purpose

DOS2 GM mode > Every other RPG
youtube.com/watch?v=SNxDMZhiGtU

I'm not a huge fan of Larian dialogue/plot, but fuck does the care and effort put into their games make up for it

there are gay characters in games
that's it

Look ma i posted it again!

I don't see why not

Necro or summoner? I'm kinda leaning towards summoner only because it takes forever for necro to actually get any summons

>viable?
The beauty of Div is basically everything is viable as long as you are smart. Some builds are objectively better than others and will make life easier but even if you limit your options you can get through it by using what tools you do have well.

Although if you dont know the mechanics you might struggle with a bad build.

I thought it came out on the 12th? Fuuck don't tell me I gotta slog through an extra 2 days?

The Undead summons were fucking dogshit in the first game compared to stuff like the Elementals, so Im assuming they will be dogshit in OS2 as well. Go with Summoner

Female elf that's mainly scoundrel, with some huntsman and warfare skills. Seemed like a very strong option two months ago at least.

That or a mage/warfare lizard, thanks to warfare's stat being tied to the weapon you use.

What changes when it comes out of Early Access?

Entirely new everything and a fully complete game

who is gay?

how many different types of skills can I go into? like could I do a death knight style character with most of my points in warfare and necro and a few in hydro for ice spells, or would that essentially gimp my character?

Oh. Never messed with Early Access, but I was expecting a mostly complete game with just bits and pieces missing considering it's almost out.

Undead unlocks
Origin story for custom characters unlock
2 more huge acts
Some finishing touches to the first act

They did this with 1 too, although they didnt call it EA. It was just their attempt to test the first act and the games features as they developed them.

On the release date the game is 100% feature complete. Its not a normal EA game where its never finished.

I finished the first act as a ranger+summoner while going a little bit into scoundrel for thievery bonuses and teleport skill I turned out fine but of course it's just the first act

Is it a cute girl?

Please tell me it's a cute girl.

The early access is just an incomplete act 1. It was pretty much a beta/bug test for kickstarter backers. The full game releases on the 14th.

You are sort of gimping yourself, but its not that big of an issue.

Dmg is either physical or magical, and every entity has phy or mag resistance by default. So if you mix a knight with lots of physical attacks with for example pyro spells then you're going to have to break through magic armor and physical to deal damage. Magic also scales off int, and physical strength.

But Knight+Necro isnt a bad combo because Necro is physical damage and debuffs, so as long as their magic resistance is down you can always debuff and the severity from your int stat isnt that important. Also hydro is pretty good for self buffing/status effects, where int doesn't matter so much either.

I had a character like that, but with Warfare+Geo+Pyro.
If you use a staff as your melee weapon, you can do magic Warfare damage. And it scales from Intelligence. It is really fucking powerful, you're basically a tank mage.

Thats a cute pupper you have there.

Necro/Hydro is a fun build, but it's not very good. If you can get past physical defense and inflict decay, regenerate will destroy an enemy.

Okay word yeah I plan on playing classical difficulty so I can get away with not min/maxing while still enjoying combat (explorer difficulty removes CC?? wtf is the point of that?). I'd wanted to lean more into strength than int so I could use a two hander.

What's CC?

A calcium wizard with necromancy and geomancy specialization. Might do summoning as well but I'd like to see what they add to that tree in the full release.

Crowd control like sleep / polymorph

It does? That's strange. Wonder why they decided to do that.

are there going to be more skills upon release? I was checking out the skill trees on the wiki and it seemed more diverse but smaller in quantity.

I played the first one and there were too many walls of text between actual gameplay sections and they werent even walls of text that gave you fun dialogue choices

>warfare and scoundrel
Are they? I haven't played the early access for 2 so my only experience is with the first and playing a warrior character in the first one always felt bad. Maybe I was building wrong or something but every encounter sucked ass for a long time.

I don't run in to too many problems with scoundrel so I don't have reason to believe it won't work in 2 but the first game really soured me on trying a fighter or knight character in 2.

The wiki only has access to act 1 abilities, so none of the higher level stuff is in there.

Sorry Obsidiots but no amount of shit posting is going to make Tyranny go away

OS2 has very different armor system. Also even in OS1 physical attackers did way more damage than mages, hell a 2h warrior could almost oneshot bosses.

>mfw no female lizard origin

Well I think explorer mode is for people more interested in the story and exploring than combat. I'm interested in both, so it's classic for me. Tactician is supposed to be quite difficult I believe, and I don't have the patience for extremely difficult turn-based shit.

I didn't play much farther into the Early Access than walk around 5 steps on the boat, in order to have a fresh experience once the full game drops.
Is summoning viable? I tried it out on the ship, first create a puddle of element and then summon a familiar from that puddle. Was kinda surprised by how small the dude was, in D:OS1 there were fuckhuge spiders and shit

>Tactician is supposed to be quite difficult I believe, and I don't have the patience for extremely difficult turn-based shit.

It's not THAT difficult if you have the right build. People who said "don't spread yourself too thin!" in OS1 clearly never played on a difficulty higher than Classic.

I found this bar floozy who thought she was my female elf's soulmate after a couple lines of flirting, so there's that.

in original sin 1, there were some cheeky one hit wonders, like the reposition skill (archers?) had. can this be done again? take a couple 1 point utility skills from other classes or are these locked behind a greater investment into that class?

I went back to DivOS with the epic encounters mod just to see what the fuss is about. Pretty interesting, I like the merged traits and some of the new ones, plus reactions are kinda cool, if a little weird.

Anyone know of any interesting builds, though? I'm having trouble with stat spread. Stats are a little hard to come by, and for every little thing I need around 9-ish, plus meeting the requirements for equipment. Tried making a two-handed pyromancer in light armor and some scoundrel abilities that don't require daggers, but shit is all over the place. Might decide to scrap light armor and scoundrel in favor of just going full strength, some int, heavy armor and soldier skills along with pyrokinetics, but I dunno.

I wouldn't really advice that. Skeleton sounds compelling but you will most definitely need to use a guide. It is a very complex game for first timers. Why don't you play as the Red Prince. He is really cool.

Fucking Larian. I live near the studio, don't be surprised if the office gets firebombed between now and release.

>Le we can't have that poem because it's transphobic of Eternity

DELET THIS TYRANNY IS AN INNOVATIVE AND HIGHLY REACTIVE RPG, IT WAS THE PUBLISHER, IT WAS THOSE FUCKING PUBLISHERS AGAIN

No female lizard origins means absolutely zero remorse in creating your own super tall lizard qt.

It seems like you only need one point in the skill school in order to learn all the skills. Higher ranked skills take up more memory slots instead, and you get memory slots once every few levels and by putting attribute points into Memory. Putting further points into the skill school gives you different benefits like doing more damage to physical armour (warfare) or recovering health when dealing damage to an enemy's vitality (necromancy).

>tfw absolutely no idea what class to play
:(

Divinity is the only interesting crpg for me. Finished act 1 twice already in coop. Can't wait

Really ?

I will look at the changes and they try it again.

>the witcher is less of a rpg than Skyrim

lmao

>Dialogue is irrelevant in a real RPG.

Son, you're a special kind of retard, aren't you?

Embarrassing beyond reason.

If this doesn't have day one crack i'll kill myself

>Pirating a Larian Game
Damn dude, that's just evil. But yeah it will be cracked fast because it's on GOG.
