What are some games with elitist fanbases?

What are some games with elitist fanbases?

None of them. Elitist implies their attitude is unjustified.

Not a game but I want to get this off my chest. Bravely Default's composer has another band called Sound Horizon. Some Sound Horizon fans are elitis. When I asked them to give up something so Revo could compose for Bravely Third, they called me rude.

then what do you call them when they are justified?

Smash

chess

dwarf fortress. Not the full fanbase just the shitters that try to de-rail rimworld threads

Fire Emblem

this, it's seriously autistic

Team Fortress 2

Then again, I only asked this because the Bravely community had to give up Second's ost being composed by Revo so Sound Horizon could have a wonderful 10th anniversary.

>Elitist implies their attitude is unjustified.
No it doesn't.

Elite.

Nothing. People who put the time and work into learning about something should not be dismissed just because you dislike their attitude. They become curt with people when those people refuse to listen or take the initiative to learn on their own.

The fans of a game are never the root problem; the non-fans of a game trying to take shortcuts in something they clearly have very little interest in are the problem. It's asinine to expect there to be no hostility.

Yes it does. Elitist is never a term used to describe someone who is an expert. Elitist is a derogatory term used to describe someone who rubs how good he or she is at something in other peoples' faces, which implies their reaction to the provocation was not justified.

There are elitist people on Tumblr

Just get rid of GBAbabbies and it'll be fine.

This is how Sup Forums works

You're not understanding the point. Only people who have no business judging others end up calling others elitists. Only noobs call pro gamers elitists. Only poor people call rich people pretentious. This kind of namecalling is a compulsion only the uneducated or unskilled experience.

>Elitist is a derogatory term used to describe someone who rubs how good he or she is at something in other peoples' faces
Correct
>which implies their reaction to the provocation was not justified.
No it doesn't.

Trans streamer here. I used to stream a lot of PUBG but some jerks formed a group to follow and harass me in game every time I played. Bluehole banned most of them but the whole situation really turned me off the game

Monster Hunter.

Otherwise you wouldn't use it in a derogatory way. Your professors must hate you.

Woah woah, you make it sound as if pro gamers and rich people can never truly be elitist or pretentious, and they most assuredly can.

Would you call SJWs elitist?

Elite dangerous

Whose reaction to what provocation?

Why do outsiders always think it's elitism to not want idiots that don't know what they are doing ruining the things you like?

It's subjective, and only occurs in one direction. I don't call people elitist because I'm not bad at video games. Those elitists are my peers. I depend on them to continue being good at the games because playing against or with skilled players is how I also become better.

If you feel the urge to call someone elitist it means beyond a shadow of a doubt you are admitting they are better than you at whatever it is and you have essentially given up on being as good at it as they are. This makes you angry so you lash out. If they say anything it annoys you because it reminds you of your shortcomings. They're not being elitists. They're acting like just anybody else. You're just hyper sensitive about it.

Because that's what it is. Whether or not it accomplishes that is a matter for debate.

Under the more modern use as a synonym for snob? Yes, absolutely.

Pre or Post Heroes?

Former I'm completely on board with, but Heroeskiddies can fuck right off with their gacha cancer.

I want to say PCfags, but every PCfag I've met was willing to help and give information on how to get on PC gaming, as well as pointing out why PC gaming is better, does that make them not elitist if they're not looking down on others, but trying to bring everyone up?

You have a friend named Fargo. Fargo firmly believes that your tastes in video games are shit, and that DOTA 2 is the best, most ingenious, most popular game ever and anyone who doesn't play it every hour of every day is an insufferable pleb who might as well kill themselves now. Fargo is an elitist, and a very severe one at that.

Is Fargo better than you?

>Is Fargo better than you?
At DOTA 2? Probably. If you take his attitude personally you've got bigger problems.

Not at all. Elitism can stem from an air of superiority over a purely subjective choice that they view makes them elite.
Believing your favorite tv show to be better than all others and thinking you can scientifically prove that is elitism, for example. There's nothing inherently expert about any of that.

Are you sure you weren't turned off because its fucking PUBG
