What did he mean by this?

What did he mean by this?

Pete Hines is a walking PR disaster. When will this clown and get fired and replaced by /ourguy/?

Who cares stop giving these devs attention you retards

It's amazing that Pete Hines is still employed and has seen no real public backlash

Well, he's not wrong

t.
pete

I don't think a manlet could ever be /ourguy/.

6 whole feet and 2 inches, baby!

And that helps what?

Some weird bullshit about the idea of Hellfire Armor being trademarked, when it really isn't.

Pete really does cause more problems then he solves. Why is he still employed and how hasn't the rest of internet realized he's an absolute moron?

Bethesda was originally made up of familiars and friends and has expanded their circle ever since. I assume nepotism will keep him there as long as he wants to stay.

I don't understand anything happening in this thread

When people stop buying their games.
The Todd memes have done a good job of deflecting the ire the real bad guys—he and pic related—would otherwise naturally get.

what a sack of shit

Because nobody wants his job of dealing with Fallout autism 24/7

He's right.

this. someone explain what's going on?

How the fuck did the internet not lose its shit over this? Dude pretty much just said women are idiots.
I'm guessing the only solution then is simple.
We make them into memes. I hate the idea of forcing a meme but god damn, it does work and bring attention to these fucks.

According to Chris Avellone he's an amazing guy to work with, so here's that.

He dismisses so many things fans throw at him. Whether or not he wants to deal with it, being a PR man, it's his fucking job.

And he's doing a pretty good job considering the asinine shit people whine to him about.

>How the fuck did the internet not lose its shit over this? Dude pretty much just said women are idiots.

Because they are? Nothing new

Whats that phrase? If you want to see how someone truly is, see how they act towards someone beneath them?
Chris is actually respected and loved. Pete is a parasite clinging on for dear life. Don't doubt that, if you're not on first name basis, dude treats you like scum.

dude what a BASED idea! Let's make them a MEME!!

Emil, please.

This is the same company that talked about Girlfriend Mode to game journalist and got their cabal to cackle up a shitstorm.

>Chris is actually respected and loved.
Chris was a writer from a lesser company employed to work on Bethesda's property. He was absolutely not above Hines in that professional relationship.

You know, I don't agree with the guy at all, but I am impressed by how many replies he gives to random nobodies. Who else with as much dev celeb status as him spends this much time on twitter replying to randoms?

What's asinine about asking him about his shit game's monstrous plot holes and absolutely ass backwards mechanical choices? He basically tells people to fuck off without saying it so crudely or he plays mental gymnastics with the definitions of things.

The man has the tact of a fish and he's public relations.

Wasn't that gearbox?

i'll make you a meme dude, so walk away unless you want whatever bad thing you call a life to be forever besmirched

He's the PR guy. It's part of his job. Obviously not every single random but still, there's been an obvious backlash and he's trying to control it.
By being dismissive. Like always.

Well for starters, he's not a dev.

But to answer you, I know both Sawyer and Avellone do that.

What should he say? "Lol our game sucks, Emil just keeps huffing glue and writing shit?" That would be honest, but not exactly good PR.

You can't announce that you're forcing a meme you idiot

>What should he say?
"I'm not the writer, just PR. Here's a link to contact Emil, our writer."

I'm curious to see what's wrong with what he said

too late, I memed you first ;)

...

Considering the past 5 years, that wouldn't be an issue.
Also it was a joke. Although there is some merit to the idea of weaponized memes.
I fucking hate this timeline.

Sssso you're saying he should forward one of his duties to Emil? Nice.

you have autism

For some reason, I had it in my head Bethesda made Borderlands, guess I got brain worms.

Just because Bethesda made the Hellfire armor design doesn't mean they own the concept of it, that's like Disney saying they own all cartoon mice.

girls are too stupid to know they are being insulted, duh

You wouldn't disagree with a face this handsome now, would you, user?

Who plays Bethesda games anyway. Why do you care?

>I had it in my head Bethesda made Borderlands
They only made the shitty knock-off called Fallout 4.

Would you?

Pete has been slowly eating the company from the inside ever since Oblivion. Fuck that guy.

Yea, I'm sure if you went and drew your own Mickey Mouse cartoon about him going to Mars you'll win that court battle by claiming "I drew him going to Mars first, so neener"

It's more like Disney telling you Mickey Mouse became a free use character and then at the last second telling everyone that they need to pay to see all the content that the people made while he was a free used character.

>Just because Bethesda made the Hellfire armor design doesn't mean they own the concept of it
it literally does mean that though

>Disney saying they own all cartoon mice
They do if it's called Mickey and has two round ears, so

People forget that most of the mods made into 4 that were from old fallouts were probably using old assets from fallout 3 or vegas........the backpack is not original though but nobody is going to say shit about it since it can belong to any game ever.

If anything this will make modders do more work on their mods to beat the shill versions.

It's like having to pay to use Humpty Dumpty after you were told you wouldn't have to pay to use him

i'm sorry but can someone explain to me whats going on, the twitter screencaps tell me little

If there's one thing I like about Bethesda, it's that they haven't fallen for the political correctness trap, they never make forced gay characters on you or talk about how feminism is awesome and badass, they just make games they know will make a profit, and they know that that stuff doesn't profit, too bad their games stuff though

It just outs him as the idiot since the "simplifications" involved making the game more violent, macho and combat-exclusive, and thus making LESS appealing to women.

Both him and Randy are in the same boat. The question is, which one is more intelligent?

I hate Pete Hines. "Taking acid and fighting nazis bro pretty fucking crazy, right?" Eat shit, Pete.

>literallywho on social media talking about ?????????

don't you have some e-celeb dicks to go suck

Mickey Mouse copyright expires in less than ten years so we will see if Disney will lobby to get copyright law exteneded again

I'm excited as heck for new Wolfenstein.

a big guy from bethesda says that people who think the paid mods were stolen from their mods are in the wrong.

he thinks that since the idea was already in the old fallouts it's their property and if anyone just makes the armor available to the new fallout they can copy their work to use as paid mods since it's their idea in the 1st place.

>Who plays Bethesda games anyway.
The majority? You know the ones have the purchasing power to actually impact the industry?

Didn't Anita Sarkeesian suggest to DICE that they make Mirror's Edge appeal more to women by making it play itself? Feminists treating women like babies isn't really anything new.

>Pete says Bethesda made hellfire armor in Fallout 3
>Modder screeches and his hellfire armor mod for Fallout 4 is a unique creation
>Pete says no not really
>Modder continues screeching even though Bethesda didn't have the mod pulled from the Nexus or anything and he's just saying that shit like "WITCHER ARMOR SKYRIM MOD" isn't an original creation
Pete did nothing wrong here. Creation Club is retarded but this is just trying to rile up the re-re's.

Of course they will.
THE LAWS WILL BEND TO THE MOUSE'S WILL
EVERYONE SHALL BOW BEFORE THE MIGHTY MOUSE

ever wonder why todd wasnt at E3 this year?

he was tied up in the bethesda basement, screaming as he watched pete hines on tv announce the creation club.

The only problems I have with creation club so far is that none of the stuff they have is new and original and that godawful credits shit, like seriously, I'm using real money to buy this shit, no need to hide that fact from me

>Peter, please! You know this is a bad idea!
>But Todd, you're so liked. What could possibly go wrong? What was it you said? It.Just.Works.

Pete Hiney just baffles me. If I was CEO of Bethesda, he'd be on my "not allowed to have a twitter account" list. But not only does he have a twitter account where he's allowed to talk about the company, he's the fucking PR manager. They could literally just fire him and put a bobblehead in his office chair, and they'd notice an improvement in PR.

I feel like Gearbox is almost universally criticized, but Bethesda could take a fat shit on someone's lap and say it's the new Fallout experience and there would still be a diehard group of drones defending it til the day they die, so Pete, Todd, Emil and friends must be doing something right.

>none of the stuff they have is new and original
Except for the original stuff like the "Horse Armor" and the backpacks.

But those are kinda shit, so your point still stands.

>you will never get to lead a village of obedient lolis living in the wasteland of the post-ww3 october crisis timeline

It's all safe shit geared towards just to work.

I think i see the bigger picture though.

So there is rumors of fallout 4 on switch and i bet that paid mods will only be the only mods you can get.....kids, they're targeting kids....I mean back then I made bad choices on purchases but think out many small retards in 2017 will just buy mods because they can.

nintendo will never go for free mods.

If it's their thing then why wasn't it in the game in the first place

So is the content someone elses work?

I could see that. Every question just answered with a short video of the bobblehead going yes or no. But Bethesda is apparently stupidly protecting itself. Even when one of their own is obviously way over his head, they keep treating them like royalty. Emil and Pete should've left 10 years ago.

They created a cult. Can't really defend that.
Gearbox is easy to hate cause, well, they're fucking morons and Randy is a piece of shit, but Todd, despite his faults, can be enjoyable. Just does what he loves, keeps to himself, lies. Normal dev stuff.
Emil and company though, they're just coasting on Todd's status. People keep trying to elevate him to the same level as Gaben. Look how well that turned out.

This. Where's the image that shows Todd hired a friend who failed his modeling final exam FOUR times, and still ended up as the lead modeler for F3?

Most industries are aimed at kids/young teens, since they're the ones who'll bother their parents for money without thinking of the consequences. Young adults/adults still have some consideration for money and how to save it.
So yeah, makes sense.

Look at the context. Bethesda wants us to think that CC content isn't paid mods. Then they go ahead and put up the exact same kind of content you can already find in mods. Then Pete Hines says "well uhh it's still technically original because we own the IP".

It just serves as further proof that CC doesn't offer anything at all to people who already have access to mods, since you can already get the same content for free. No one is going to decide to pay instead of downloading for free just because the paid option had the idea first.

this is fucking nintendo though adults buy consoles because they know it's usually family friendly.

Paid mods would be a gold mine.

Company worship, not even once. I don't care how passionate a developer comes off as, they will eventually get to the point where they start taking advantage of all that good will and eventually go the way of Valve and Bethesda. It's almost inevitable. As much as I enjoy their games, CDPR makes me nervous for this very reason.

They may be cool now, but I feel like it's only a matter of time with the way people suck them off and hail them as the best thing since sliced bread. I hope that's just me being cynical, but this industry is in such a state that I don't think its unreasonable to be cautious.

I was agreeing. Kids will buy every single shiny thing like crows with credit cards.

From an end user perspective you might be right.

However, from a corporate perspective the upper management is likely pleased because he's actively dismissing any negative connotations.

>Mr. Altman, 20 thousand people complained about this. I told them to fuck off
>Well done, not a single complain then
I get where you're coming from, but it's one thing to defuse a situation and another to just pretend the problem went away

I just realised how much ammunition Todd has given to someone who wants to perform a kidnapping/corporate takeover.
>"You see that corporate ladder? I can climb it."
>"You'll never get away with this!" "Of course I will. It. Just. Works."

Why cant people rate works individually regardless of who make them?
Companies are not your friends, I guess people need to feel like part of something or friends with someone that they idolize?
I dont know Ive never had that problem

>bethesda
>capable of climbing ladders

lol betheshita devs still can't do ladders and pretend gamebryo can't do them while Larian had ladders with Gamebryo in Divinity 2. (i think it was gamebryo)

I call bullshit on this tweet. Archive now.

How is Pete in the wrong here?

>HA. We don't have working ladders!
A corporate takeover in the form of memes. Well, this is the future we choose.

Its all marketing if I had to guess. You see it all the time at events like E3 where they show videos of the developers saying how much they love games and how passionate and caring they are, yadda yadda. Bethesdaland was the perfect example of this despite how many people shat on it. It builds this mentality in gullible people that they actually care about them and don't just see them as dollar signs and sales figures.

>this company makes good games. i like them
>huh they've put out a few stinkers lately but maybe they'll recover
>holy shit they've gone full jew.

If you don't understand why people feel betrayed or upset about a company's fall from grace, you might genuinely be autistic.

>Our PR system is well known to be shit that doesn't ACTUALLY speak for the company in any way.
>People will tire themselves out arguing with the company idiot so they don't have time to ACTUALLY complain to the company, and his statements will never be taken as fact.

It's like hiring a drunk. On the one hand, terrible business decision. On the other hand no corporate accountability since nobody tells the PR guy anything, and everybody knows he's just making shit up and is a fake "online presence" just so people can pretend like they're arguments and complaints matter.

I think the main issue is that Bethesda will always be vague as to what is and isn't allwoed, letting the fine print fuck anyone they want. So let's say someone makes the Hellfire armor, slightly modified, from scratch. Bethesda can just claim it's theirs, not allow the modder any money but they'll keep selling it on the basis of fuck you, it's mine.
