decided to try it today and fuck man i didn't think an official sonic game could be this good again.

not since sonic heroes broke my heart

Someone I know is working on a mod but doesn't know how to make it look like how he wants it. How does one alter Mania's palettes?

>that pic
Wherever BSA is, I wonder if he's proud of what he created.

Post some good mods to convince me to buy the PC version. I already own it on switch

...

You did get all achievements on your first playthrough, right? You're not a casual, are you?

right here
you probably know who is working on it

Is Flying Battery act 2 the biggest level in the game? The level is so big that the top, bottom, and even middle routes are entirely different from each other at times and the level it pretty fucking long on top of that. It was the only level I timed out on due to stubborn exploring, and I feel like a lot of people probably timed out on the boss fight due to the nature of the fight itself and the length of the level.

Now that I think about it, yeah it probably is. The only other Zone with a similar length is Titanic Monarch but that one's pretty linear. FBZ is fucking huge, especially for how early in the game it appears.

>Buy
Don't buy the PC game version from the lying company SEGA

Biggest surprise from the game?

I love it to death. Probably my favorite returning stage because of Act 2 alone. It felt like the final zone.

Studiopolis
Oil ocean or lava reef
The magician robot that transforms into the three guys
Octopus bot
Mirage Saloon act 2
Sonic
The special stages are fun

Has anyone made maps for the levels yet?

>beat the game
>credits
>the actual developers make up less than 5% of this massive reel

I think Sega just through in everyone currently employed

ubisoft did it with the scott pilgrim game, but worse since it was a movie tie in

A short credit reel would have been so satisfying too

Press Garden
Titan Monarch with special mention to Hydro City act 1
The magician robot that transforms into best underused villains
Mirage Saloon Act 2 or Chemical Plant act 2
Sonic
Honestly? Just how great the game is, my biggest surprise in Mania was Mania itself

Mirage saloon or Chemical Plant
Hydrocity(still good, but seemed worse than the original somehow some of the gimmicks slowed things down a bit much)
gachapon eggman
spider eggman or auto scroller heavy
Ruby Delusions, but metailic madness 2 is probably the best underrated one
eggman
hydrocities first boss(got spoiled on alot)

>Actually pay attention and read the credits at first
>Read all the actual developer names
>Credit theme finishes
>Goes to the intro theme next
>Okay, guess the song wasn't quite long enough for the credits length
>Keeps going
>Getting into more names and positions I don't care about
>Then there's a third song
>Still going and even more literally who's and positions that don't even need to be mentioned
>Gets to the file select theme and it stays on it for a solid minute before ending
>Not even paying attention at that point
Was that just Sega's attempt at trying to steal credit and make it seem like they had more involvement in the game's development than the actual devs did? Or was it just them sucking their own dicks? Cause the credit theme was just about long enough to cover all the actual devs IIRC. It feels way over-bloated to the point where they had to use four different songs during the whole thing.

hydrocity was underwhelming, act 1 is made a slog by the new stuff, act 2 doesn't have a lot of new things

Is modding the PC version possible now that Denuvo's been cracked? I know there were mods before, but virtually all of them were sprite swaps.

I'm pretty sure it's both.

Sprite swaps were the easiest mods to make because the format RSDK isn't fully known yet. Denuvo doesn't have much to do with that, but I'm sure the lack of DRM will open a few more doors.

Denuvo wont affect mods.

I timed out too, first time I had seen that where it didn't involve 5 year old me walking away with a level playing. Was pretty surprised desu.

Legit download link for the game?

>Favorite zone?
Metallic Madness or Titanic Monarch, I'll need to replay the game again to really decide which I liked more.
>Least favorite zone?
Despite the original being one of my favorite classic zones, Hydrocity didn't really live up to expectations. Act 1 was Labyrinth tier slow (probably because of the elements used from Labyrinth zone) and the boats didn't add much, act 2 felt closer to the original Hydrocity but didn't really stick with me. The act 1 boss was a cool throwback but awkward to fight and probably won't be fun to replay, and act 2 was also a nice new idea and throwback but the fight was ultimately two halves of mid-boss fights.
>Favorite boss?
Probably MBM, Mega Octus was also a pretty good fight.
>Least favorite boss?
Probably Shiver Saw, it was just slow and awkward with a lot of standing around, it should have had a longer reach or extra attack to it. What do you even do if you break all the boxes and haven't killed it yet?
>Favorite song?
MBM song, it's just too good. Metallic Madness 2 and Titanic Monarch 1/2 are also great.
>Favorite character?
Sonic.
>Biggest surprise from the game?
Mean Bean and Bean. MBM was genuinely surprising and I had no idea about because I went in blind, and I was surprised to get attacked by Bean and see him with an actual sprite. Mfw seeing both of these things.
Special stages are also very fun to play.

That PG1 boss can actually be safely attacked without boxes. If you're close and immediately jump over a saw as its expanding, you can get a hit in without taking damage.

i've only seen hydrocity act 1 around

>You did get all achievements on your first playthrough, right?
No, and neither did you.
> Getting 2 randomly positioned items at the end of a zone
> Fighting a boss in the most unefficient way
> Getting pushed through a window
Those thing don't happen naturally in a first round.

I already liked Press Garden 2, but bringing in a fire shield from act 1 (or getting one early in 2) makes the stage so much more fun.

Metallic Madness remix even existing

Looking at all the other sonic threads on this board, why are the Mania ones always so calm and comfy?
Literally everyone else is either complaining about boost, adventure, or even Mania and they are just generally pessimistic people.

Why does this never happen here?
>inb4 that one time people started shilling sonic CD for no reason

because it's a game that makes people happy
that's kind of a rare sight around here

I think Press Garden is kind of a dumb and gimmicky zone theme. When I first heard the name I thought it would mean press as in pressed flowers, not actual printing presses. I guess maybe that's the joke though, a play on words.

>Eggman's printing press
>You go to the forest that he's deforesting to make the newspapers
Shit like that makes my dick hard.

Part of me wishes that there was more signs of Eggman cutting down all the trees in Act 2's background and not just the occasional log shredder, but the other part of me likes the serene snowy forest too much to want machines to be ripping it up.

>Robotnik turned a cathedral into a printing press
>And he's deforesting the woods to make the newspapers
>Carrying on his theme of anti-environmental evilness
It's so clever and yet I didn't fully realize it until just now.

I can guarantee you that none of them are actually upset about anything, they're just baiting people for their own amusement.

From what I can tell, it's related to if/how often you get hit, if you have a perfect run (no hits and no lost shields) it's up to 10,000 and if you die at all it's zero. There might be some other things that factor into it but I'm pretty sure that's the main thing.

How far can you mod this game though?
AFAIK you can only modify textures but not add anything worthwhile to the actual game.

Keyboard because my USB SNES controller wasn't registering, which would have been great to play with.

Mirage Saloon (As Knuckles, Act 1 as Sonic and Tails fucking sucks)
Titanic Monarch
Studiopolis Act 2
Studiopolis Act 1
Hydrocity and Lava Reef 1
Sonic, but Amy would be better
No surprises, Mania played it safe

Do I actually have to play the game to unlock a Blue Sphere level select or is there just some code I can put in

The spider boss is actually consistent. You just have realize that it can't get knocked far away if it's in the ground. It needs to rise up a little.

You just keep it stunned by hitting the abdomen part until the pillars show up and then you can get two easy hits per pillar. When there are spikes on both sides of the room, a charged spin dash into the abdomen is strong enough to bounce it into them.

It's not the most intuitive boss because of the ground quirk but yeah, the boss is totally consistent.

It's about how many times you get hit. No hits yields the greatest bonus, dying gives you a big fat zero, and each hit seems to reduce it by 1000 points from what I can tell. Though I've heard of it going over 9k/10k points from anons, so there may be another factor to it that isn't known about yet.

What's the best Zone music and why is it Metallic Madness 2?

*Act 1

I believe combo hits on enemies and possibly grabbing long ring combos also affect it

I LIVE IN THE FAST LANE AND YOU'RE IN MY WAY

Is Titanic Monarch Zone bullshit or am I just bad at this game?

>Oil Ocean act 2 starts with cleansing the air on one of those Sandopolis bars
>Didn't think anything of it, just thought it was a nice touch for clearing out the smoke
>Run through the level a bit and the screen starts getting dim as smoke builds up
>The music has that spooky heat-wave desert vibe to it
>Mfw the screen gets filled with smoke to the point where I can barely see and I realize I'm playing Sandopolis act 2 all over again

Posted this in a previous thread (didn't know it was bait), but feel free to express if anything you agree or disagree with is showing.

How I envision to fix Sonic:

For any type of Sonic game to work correctly in level design, you need to take in longevity, condension, and space. A trifecta of perfect balance makes a great level to play through.

3D Sonic in sprawling, wide, big spaces doesn't work if levels are linear. 2D Sonic in spacious mazes of levels can be like puzzles, and too much space between stage objects can cause it to feel empty.

Dimps overuses the key term of speed, which is why people make fun of them. Gamecube Sonic games were fun but also fucking long because of their longevity, not to mention Unleashed's Eggmanland stage. Fan games can get it right, but only if they take these into consideration.

To fix Sonic, you have to control the balance of longevity, condension and space. Too much or too little throws the stage off.

you're bad and will grow to appreciate it

It's one of the best designed levels in the whole game (and maybe series) and anyone who hates it is a fucking shitter.

PIC FUCKING RELATED. Eggman is at his best in this game, he's having so much fucking fun.
>Biggest surprise from the game
Me actually enjoying Oil Ocean. I fucking hated that zone in 2.

Though seriousy, Fang appearing at the end of Mirage Saloon's first act blew my fucking mind.

I don't know why you thought this very boring and vague post was insightful enough to repost but okay mate

The start to act 2's music sounds like a rave party, and the spinning background kinda adds to that effect in time with the music.
>I'm the biggest widest villain that's ever been on your screen, I'm iconic
>Lookin' out for Sonic; my mustache got bigger, welcome to the new world hedgehog ni--

PS4 controller on PC

I feel dumb for not realizing the front of the train is his face

I'd like to see the levels from Taxman's CD, 1, and 2 ports modded in or made to work with Mania.

Oh my god

>that saxophone solo

the train whistle is also his face, Eggman puts his face on EVERYTHING

>>Lookin' out for Sonic; my mustache got bigger, welcome to the new world hedgehog ni--
he clearly says "my moustache on fire. welcome to the new world, eggman empire."

Blossom haze is the best theme in this game

>Eggman actually built a toy dispenser filled with miniature versions of his past inventions
>He even included an exploding Amy doll
>All just to fight a mini Sonic
>He also created his own TV channel
>Whistles at Sonic and Tails while passing by with his train that has his nose, mustache and glasses built in the front of it.
>He even wears a train conductor hat
>Eggman branding everywhere
>Built a fucking Puyo puyo machine just to fight sonic
Best character indeed user.

...

>10 minute time limit
Uninstalled, fuck you taxman.

...

There's no way that robotnik isn't just fucking with sonic and the gang because he wants to hang out. He could've easily killed sonic years ago. Egomaniac is even worse because he openly states his intentions not to harm sonic to the point of death.

*eggman
