visual novels are video games even if you don't like them.
Visual novels are video games even if you don't like them
I'm currently reading through Higurashi and I'm having fun
That's nice user.
But they're literally not though. They aren't even novels. They're picture books. For small, autistic manchildren.
even if you don't like them
>a game played
Right, and you play a VN by clicking through the text and making decisions.
I might be autistic. And a manchild. But I am not small. I am huge, and I am ripped.
And I like my digital picture books.
By that retarded definition literally every single thing in the universe is a video game. Please kill yourself you fat basement dwelling faggot.
You should return to reddit immediately.
Fuck off, you drunken patty shit. You probably can't even fucking read after all those blows to the head.
Your life is just a game user
And soon enough, you'll be out of quarters
There are VNs without decisions.
And explicitly states that it's a "game" played by electronically manipulating images.
So if it's not a game you're electronically manipulating the images of. Then it wouldn't be a videogame.
VNs are cool though. They don't need to be games to be cool.
>You can easily see him stuff horseshoes in his gloves
>Ref doesn't disqualify him
The wvba is a crock of shit
It's an interactive, choose your own adventure novel.
Games construe a set of rules, gameplay mechanics, and a chance of unique gameplay and outcome. VNs are not games.
Mods finally started banning those shitty filename threads, I hope they get on this soon as well.
Where am I supposed to talk about visual novels then
>novels are video games
Getting real tired of this shit.
Visual novels with Gameplay are called Adventure Games and Visual novels without gameplay are not games.
Therefore, visual novels themselves never have gameplay and as such are not games.
lol why are people so bootyblasted
visual novels are literally games by definition
Spotted the Katawa Shoujo fag.
I just presented my counter argument to OPs thesis. Ever notice how people who want to be right, even if they're wrong, like to call the opposition angry? It's pretty egotistical, and why would you be so egocentric on an anonymous imageboard for adults?
>Tfw finally playing through Utawarerumono 2 & 3
I'm really enjoying it.
And now that this thread is nice and kicked off the discussion may begin. Would you recommend it?
>novels are literally games by definition
They're electronic books m8.
well according to the "definition", every single e-book in the world is a video game!
notice the broken logic here?
Ok, but walking simulators are more vidya than visual novels are. There's more gameplay in Gone Home than SteinsSEMICOLONGate.
I've only watched the 2nd part in entirety and am currently playing through MoD so take my review with a grain of salt. If you already played through Underwater Ray Romano, then MoD is the same but less dated. The characters are really cute, the art and game design are a clear upgrade, and the story comes off as more focused version of the first part. There is no sex in part 2 and 3 but Aquaplus was not to afraid to add fanservice, both sexual and some really cool cameos from the first part. The gameplay is clearly not the focus so don't expect anything crazy in depth like Kamidori but neither is it boring or unnecessary to the rest of the VN experience.
Again if you like the first part getting the others is a no brainer and if you haven't started the series yet the first part, even though releasing in 2002, is well worth playing even today for the story alone.
Video games are toys for children too
Thanks user, I'll put it on my backlog.
>having fun
VN's like ace attorney or danganronpa are video games
VN's like Fate are not video games
Does that make choose your own adventure books board games then?
If you play it from a screen, the yes.
I'm enjoying Wonderful Everyday/Subahibi so far. First chapter was a bit of a slog though.
On Sup Forums or /lit/.
Yes. Would you like to play some board games user?
If there is no failure state, its not a video game.
This.
>flip books are novels even if you don't like them.
I'm fine with that, but I still consider them shit games unless they have a meaningful interactive element, which they do, sometimes.
Monopoly played on a digital device is a video game
you're pretty like my sister.
