Hello is this a Yakuza thread?

Majima saying it's been a while since he last saw Kiryu in Chaoter 5 of Kiwami is sorta weird.
I know it's probably just cause it's a remake and that's what he said in the first game, but I had just played titty bugs with him 5 mins earlier.
...
KIRYU-CHAAAAN....HELLO!
Good a Yakuza thread, I hope you guys can help me here since I'm a 0baby.
I played 0 and Kiwami and I can't justify spending double what I spent on 0 for a ps2 game. I have bought 3 and I've got it in my ps3 waiting for me, is it a huge mistake to skip 2 for the time being and play 3 -5 before 6 is released and 2 kiwami is released in the west?
Where can I find the dream machine in Kiwami? Need to buy those parts so I can win the later car races.
Where is Majima in this game?
2 is the best one, but i don't know if it'll be enjoyable after playing 0 and kiwami.
So, Shimano isn't fat, he's actually huge.
>yfw mia colonels coming back to life
Don't recall it being that hard in the original
Yakuza newfag here. I may have missed something but why does Majima turn from subdued weirdo to literal Joker ripoff between 0 and 1? I actually like him a lot less.
All your encounters with him are just a fever dream
He explains it himself in Zero.
Because playing a joker ripoff would be annoying
I played 0 and Kiwami and then 2 - It is a bit of a jump but it's not that bad, as long as you approach it as a PS2 game it should be fine.
I think you'd be missing out if you skip 2 entirely, but you can more or less skip it for Kiwami 2. Putting aside spoilers in the latter games if you don't mind those, that is. 2 is definitely worth playing, it was amazing. But if you don't wanna shill for it, you'll be fine not playing it.
I want some merch
Yeah it's not that I am opposed to paying retail price or playing a ps2 game. my problem is that I'd have to pay £75 for the game and I can't really spend that this month but I want to play another Yakuza game.
I also want to get prepared so I can play 6 when it comes out
As said in the last thread you'll miss a couple references and a major character from 2 is going to be at the start of 3 but only for a bit. I don't know why you think 2 is going to cost you $120 unless you need to buy both a PS2 and the game which is $40, but you also have the option to emulate it and if my toaster can do that then yours most likely can. Keep in mind Kiwami is an enhanced remake of 1, it adds onto it to basically make it a brand new game so there's a reason to play both versions (Different perspectives, different design philosophies, the origin of the gameplay, the original version of the story, etc), so both versions of 2 would most likely be worth playing to see the differences and experiences.
It's up to you to decide if you want to skip it, if you do you're going to miss out on a pretty fun story and good characters, and while only some of it is referenced it's still a unique Yakuza experience. It will spoil one major character's death though if you just jump into 3 as it's stated I think twice to Daigo, and you'll have no clue who Daigo is outside of the brief explanation unless you Reminisce and watch the Cliffnotes of 2. Personally, I wouldn't skip any of the games, they're all great fun, but if you want to and just want to get on with it then it's your call.
I feel you as well, I paid about that for it as well. I don't regret it at all, but if you can't shill out for those prices and don't mind some spoilers, I think you'll be fine waiting for Kiwami 2.
>you never see Makimura Makoto again
Fuggg that hit me really hard.
>tfw baka mitai
PAL copies of the game go for around a hundred dollars.
>you never see Makimura Makoto again
She's gonna be in Kiwami 2, are you excited for that perfect ending to be ruined?!
Thanks for the advise guys, I will skip 2 for now and if I enjoy 3, I reckon I will buy 2 when I get paid. I am heart broken I can't get it now but I want more Yakuza now
ICHIBAN IS NUMBER 1
Why not just emulate it?
>buy 2
for what purpose
Man that's rough, even when used? I remember a couple months back before we got the US reprints we had guys in Europe saying PAL copies were only like €30 used so you could see about that. If you don't want to spend that though, again emulation is always an option. If you do plan on playing Kiwami 2 and skipping 2 then don't reminisce in 3 or you'll ruin the plot twists, though I can't remember if even the graveyard scene in 3 spoils the ending of 2 a bit. I think one of the graves does if you interact with it.
Since you're jumping to 3 here's some advice:
After the Majima fight you are going to basically be in downtime for an hour or two straight. Minimum fights, barely any street fights, but after the first major orphanage interaction Ryukyu opens up and you can explore all of it once that happens as long as you don't do the main story.
He was played like a fiddle by pretty much everyone in Zero, so he stopped giving a fuck.
To be honest spoilers aren't something that bother me too much, if I really get into something I have a terrible habit of going out of my way to spoil it for myself.
I am going to go into 3 and just play the game I guess.
I'm not really a fan of emulation I have a shitty laptop and there's something about emulation just doesn't sit right for me.
I do think I'll pre-order the special edition of 6 so I can get those sweet glasses and art book
>PAL copies of the game go for around a hundred dollars.
I bought sealed Yakuza 2 2 years ago for equivalent of $15
Up to you how you want to do it. 3 is a little slow though.
Does the second option for Tiger Drop in 6 just make it stronger or what?
>MFW ORDERED YAKUZA KIWAMI A WEEK A GO
>MADE ORDERS FROM JAPAN AND NEIGHBOURING EU COUNTRY TOO
>KIWAMI WAS FROM A LOCAL STORE
>FUCKING MAIL FROM JAPAN AND FROM THE NEIGHBOURING COUNTRY COME IN FIRST
>STILL NO FUCKING KIWAMI
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH FINNISH MAIL
they're finished
Got the Golden Pistol in Chapter 4. Is there anyway to up the difficulty from Hard?
Pocket Fighter has had a rough 17 years
Yep, even used. Sucks.
In good news, I just managed to snag a Yakuza 2 PAL promo copy off ebay for about $40. Glad I'll be able to play it.
pls buy tofu
Lucky you, where'd you manage to get that find?
Widens the window a bit.
If it's the same as 5 it just makes the window like .2 seconds longer.
What is the best way to approach this micro management bullshit in 0?
Buy property as soon as possible or wait when i have a bunch of high level staff and buy all property at once?
i'd say #1 is a bit thin on content compared to all the other ones, even the kiwami version was pretty bare-bones compared to zero. it's pretty essential playing though for the story. i liked #2 a lot, both story and gameplay changes. got kinda bored with both #3&4, really starting to feel like unnecessary sequels that don't really add much to the canon. #5 resonated more with me for some reason + most content of the lot. dead souls is pointless non-canon fanservice and gameplay is pretty bad.
tl;dr
5>0>2>1>4>3>DS
Doesn't help much. Enemies still come right in your fucking face to attack. I'm okay with slower attacking enemies, but when kickboxer dudes come right in my fucking face, it's game over. I just use the block parry.
Local auction site. The interest was high enough that woman selling these next time increased the price by $8.
>Steelbook not arriving until the 20th
Jesus christ
Almost a month after release
Don't buy from zavvi bros
Please no. It was pure kino how he bit his tongue and walked away.
You can always block parry and then wait a second because in every game they just retaliate after about a second. I know the guys in 6 are a bit more unpredictable though, or, they felt that way in the demo at least.
I've seen a couple pop up on a local auction site here but they go really quick.
I'm just glad I was able to get this promo copy, even if it's not the retail version It will be good to be able to play it and not have to shill out so much money.
Seriously though, nice find.
Does every Yakuza game have to start with a chairman being shot?
delivering post by reindeer is hard user
especially when you have to stop and put cheese in your coffee all the time
That massage saying that I have to finish more story to fight Majima again was such a pleasant news. Especially after fighting him two times in 10 minutes.
fuck that system, I hate it more and more every hour I played.
Is there really any point to playing both Yakuza/2 and Kiwami/2?
You can see how the series evolved.
Y0 was a randoom mook in the empty lot no?
Depends desu
If you really get into the series and want to see how it progressed, then it's a nice experience
If not, no. Not really. The remakes are essentially 1:1 for plot, but with extra depth on certain characters (Nishiki and Majima).
yeah most of the time I bait their attacks or wait till they get close and dodge-step back then try it\
takes some getting used to but it feels good having it feel so rewarding again
it was starting to get way too easy on the old combat system
Gonna go for the plat in all Yakuza games. Finishing up 3 right now, wish me luck.
I got into yakuza with 0, played kiwami and wanted to continue the series.
Theres a lot in 2, sidequest wise, and I want to see it all, but I also want to see what they add. So im currently emulating Y2 and just blowing through the main story so I can go buy a ps3 to finish the series with 6, and saving the side quests for kiwami 2 since it wont be stateside until atleast oct. of next year. I dont want to have my collectors edition of Y6 sitting around for that long.
>tfw enjoyed 1 & 2 but dropped the series with 3 because I was unable to stomach all the kids' bullshit
how does this make you feel?
Build it up as you go along and when you're in the final chapters of the game start focusing only on side quests and real estate, that way you can just afk for a couple billion yen and coast off that money once you beat the game and go after media king
This is why you should go digital. It's not like you're missing anything unless you bought the pre-order copy with the merch.
>cheese in your coffee
what the fuck does this mean? new meme I've missed? we don't do that.
He ended 0 with a "fuck it, just go all out" lifestyle after seeing Nishitani live and die with that mentality. Yakuza 1's Majima definitely plays it up a lot but also remember it's still the first game in terms of writing so of course it'll feel weird. He levels out in the later games
True, true, they really messed up there should of had some random chairman of some random organisation
LONELY NIGHT LOOOONELY NIGHT

Get a ruler for pool and then all you need to do is align the center of both the ball you're going to hit and your predicted ball to get the angle. You'll still lose a majority of the Expert games though since the AI just loves to cheat and never flub. They occasionally mess up in 9 ball and roulette, but 8 ball they almost never mess up. For roulette just pretend the game doesn't exist until you get to the 8ish range, then start worrying about each shot.
For Darts the bit in between where the dart and the thumb is is where you should be looking when determining your center point. To throw pull back slightly so you see the hand go back and then thrust forward. If you do it right you should always throw straight. AI will nearly always get 180 on every single throw, and for cricket you absolutely must lock down 20 on the first throw and get at least 120 points immediately or you'll most likely lose. Then just try to close stuff off, don't go for bullseye until you lock 18 since that's usually when the AI goes for it.
For golf the green is 100% power, sand is 50%, and the other one you can get (Rough?) is 70%, so calculate your hits accordingly. It's a disaster to get -5 and it's just as hard in 4 and Dead Souls (In those you just use Kiryu, ignore everyone else since their strength and accuracy is awful).
For baseball you basically need 18/20 balls on the last course to win. Look at the two lines on Kiryu's bat but don't focus on them exactly, and then when Kiryu just freezes up press X to hit the ball. Memorize ball speed or you're screwed.
The rest is more than easy enough, Godspeed. 4 is far easier, Dead Souls is a pain in the ass due to slots, and 5 has been smooth sailing so far but it's incredibly long.
>we don't do that
lapps do
they use leipäjuusto
He was the one God damn character I grew an attachment for! Why didn't you fucks tell me!.
Would you guys like to see a squel to the prequel? Something that takes place in the early 90s?
Don't be like that user, just play Yakuza 3, and you will never see feel sorrow like that ever again.
I kinda like it. It feels much more tactical than the wild predictable enemies in previous games.
i would love a game set during the time when kiryu was kidnapped by lau
make the new city yokohama or some shit
have cameos by young hamazaki and shit too
>ost
I'm guessing you're a dirty swede. Opinion discarded. :D
Also Laplanders aren't technically Finnish. No sane person puts leipäjuusto (cheese bread) in their coffee. Must be some queer Swedish tradition.
I already got all the minigames in 3 done. Pool and baseball were by far the most annoying. Good info though.
>These moves
Why boner
Good job dropping it at the worst part of the game. It gets better, pick it back up
i'm not even nordic user, sorry!
i do like visiting your cunt tho (-:
i have heard kaffeost is a thing with samis and fennoswedes
although i'm aware both aren't true finns
based Sugita
Oh fuck off, I'm now playing Yakuza 3 literally just booted it up. I couldn't handle Nishiki so I don't know how I'll deal with anything worse.
It breaks my heart. I honestly thought he was going to have lived after the explosion and follow Kiryu after he retired, and be his Rival/friend. I think him dying really shows how Yakuza was made to be a single game without a sequal
I'm spoiled on most plot points up to the start of 4 since I watched the cutsceen viewer from 4 in anticipation for 0. Despite knowing little of him it still hurt. I don't want to feel that true pain
That's good then, everything else is child's play in comparison. 4's really not that bad, it's just a bit long due to how much there is to do. Dead Souls is also long but that's simply because of the Underground Subterranea and how many times you have to go through it on top of some other grinding/busywork. For both of them the only hard minigame is golf because it's still that nonsensical -5 requirement and it's just a pain in the ass if you're not Kiryu. You'll immediately notice how laughable expert AI is in those two games when pool players are like normal or advanced in 3. 5's even easier on the minigames but everyone keeps saying the coliseum is what takes up a ton of time due to all the grinding and annoyance it brings.
somebody post the munancho pic so i can save it
>Majima was a cuck all Y0 long
>decides fuck it, DAMAGED mode
I love him.
The only thing I am truly worried about is Mahjong in 0.
Anyone have a guide for the email Majimas in chapter 4? I ended up beating higher rank Majimas and couldn't find the lower rank email ones before I got the notification that Majimas was gone
I haven't gotten past chapter 5 But I figured it out really early during the Host club scene when Kiryu got out and when I got that phone call about the money loan
What does the email say? They're not really that limited by chapter, rather just Majima's progress.
Try playing MesuKing and finishing the Pocket Racer sidequest though
It makes me want to fap
From the list I'm seeing the Full Straight is the only one that looks like a pain in the ass. Riichi Ippatsu is just luck, I've had it happen at least once in each game so far.
It was like 3 years ago.
I would need to go through that hell again.
Something about "on a roll"
I did play him once at Pocket Circuit but only once and I ended up beating the 2005 cup
Go Bowling
Cheese it by choosing smallest ball, furthest left position and mash x
Go to the bowling place
Is there an easy way to get certain majimas to spawn? Idol Majima won't show up for this.
why did you buy from them in the first place pal?
