doesn't or can't? because you don't have to give ramza a single spell in final fantasy tactics. if you mean magic is not even allowed as an option, Front Mission.
dragon's dogma if you so please.
Ayla
does metal gear rising count?
...
What do I win?
Binitsky Evghenii
Mercedes Climat Control.
How in the blueberry fuck is MGR a JRPG?
Came to post this. Both SMT Protags never use magic.
Male Gamer Role
Secret of Mana
Ayne from legend of legaia 2 did not use magic from what I remember, he was born a normal human, and not a true mystic, still managed to fuck people up by being a giant bear killing machine.
Honestly this is a pointless question, since lots of final fantasy characters can finish the game without ever casting/learning a single spell if you spec them that way.
Monster hunter.
It's a Japanese Gane where you role play as Metal Gear.
Miitopia
nothing because you're too slow
...
Uses knives, swords, and guns to fight. Summons demons through a computer program. Uses no magic himself.
What now faggot?
Tell me about Front Mission.
How good is this shit? Is it just Armored Core but as a JRPG?
Final fantasy tactics.
>inb4 mug class system
If you're not a dual wield samurai or some broken melee meme, you're a retard.
Front Mission 3 is the best in the series.
They are nothing like Armored Core. Closest thing to it is FFTactics.
The demon summoning program is a digitized summoning ritual, isnt it?
Might be good enough. I'll look into emulating them.
>farcaster
>b-b-but he isnt the main character
He is in his own chapter
Does SJ protag count amongst this list? Or do the elemental gun skills count as a variant of magic?
Main character of Dragon Quest 2
Tactics rpg meets armoured core, not traditional jrpg.
Well in Fantasy life you are just a regular fuck so no magic or anything, hell there is nothing magical about being a tailor or an angler or a woodcutter.
Oh yeah. OK.
Should I just skip ahead to Front Mission 3 or are the others recommended? What order should I play them in, if any?
I think the demon summoning program counts as magic
Dark Cloud 2
>ELEMENTAL GUN SKILLS
gee, do you maybe think those are related to magic just a bit? Christ, engage your brain, nu-Sup Forums
Play 3 then 4
imo 4 was the best
Tricky. The ammo is technically made from forma, which is a pretty "mystical" substance intrinsically. But it's also just bullets. I'd say no.
>questions questions questions without doing any of your own research to form your own opinions
are you completely unable to make your own decisions or think for yourself? do you rely on Sup Forums to tell you what to do every day? Start at 1 then.
SaGa Frontier 2, Gustave XIII.
> Implying the Strongest Man in All The Land needs magic
Basically a green colored smoke bomb so the player don't have to move all the way to the camp.
If farcaster were really magical the hunters will actively use them to hunt by teleporting around the monster or magically teleport somewhere else.
Long story short it just distracts the monsters/players with smoke so you don't have to go to the camp manually.
The pre-Online Phantasy Star games had you eventually get someone (a number of times its some version of Lutz) who actually can use magic, revealing that the shit you were doing was all tech.
I really need to finish 4. I always get sidetracked when I try. FM3 is honestly one of my favorite games of all time.
Marth.
Resonance of Fate
Nah, I'm already looking at what they came out for and feature, sounds like 3 and 4 is where I want to start.
Cheers, helpful anons.
I would say no, he can't actually do real magic himself.
Also to the OP, the hero of DQII doesn't use magic.
Both are pretty good series that were best back in the day.
You got mixed up at the end there, front mission is like ff tactics. Which I do all the time too...
Armoured core was good I remember on PlayStation 1 when you did more intense ground missions, and you could choose tank treads and shit to hold lots of guns or go lighter. Now you just fly around all the time and shit it's kinda meh.
Dekar isn't the main character you buffoon, Maxim is
>Gustave's parts in SaGa2
>10/10
>the rest
>2/10
bet it's not magic he uses special bullets made from a type of ore element rock things
...
100% unarguable answer unless some faggot is going to tell me a tank is magic.
Get told faggot.
>What is the Fire Emblem
Dekar has a sword named after him. Checkmate.
A bigger challenge would be to name a main character from a JRPG that is above the age of 20, and isn't "the chosen one, the one of prophecy, the one with the light, or any other THE ONE bullshit."
can you fire elemental ore infused bullets out of guns in real life? No, you can't, because elemental ore like that doesn't exist. There's your answer.
shin megami tensei m8
You probably haven't heard of the Metal Max series, but that.
...
Pokemon
its all natural things the pokemon can do
I have never played Saga Frontier in my life but I am in absolute love with this character. How important is it and is SF1 good for a beginner?
why was it so lackluster man?
Dark Cloud was fucking great, non annoying characters that I could feel for and the building seemed more personal to each individual town person you saved.
Dark cloud 2 had decent music and paint
> Ensures the party survives a catastrophic temple collapse
> Ensures the party can go fight the sinstrals while Big Dick Dekar clears out the town in a blink of an eye, eradicating all signs of monsters.
He's not the main character, you're right. He's the strongest character.
Eternal Sonata since nothing in the game actually happens. Also what's with westerners and wanting jrpgs to be realistic and gritty? Don't we have plenty of borefests like that in the AAA market already?
but it's not magic
can you lift a sword the size of 2 doors you cant
can fight monsters and skeletons in real life no
Fag with excellent taste.
T260-G's beginning is pretty user friendly. T260-G is also one of the main characters.
They also have different mech frames they can use through the game, but the initial frame is right next to the Alpha frame in terms of strength. They both have their benefits, but Alpha gains V-Max
This. Randi just gets magic cast on him, then just wrecks face with his sword.
I'm actually struggling to think of one
There's probably a SMT out there like that, probably Strange Journey but I never played it I just know he's a marine
Phantasy star, just don't make a force character and use a gun like the good CAST that you are, because you are a CAST right user? any other race is just inferior and you know this.
*Omega, not Alpha. My bad.
I think SJ's elemental shots are magic too, but come on.
Hero of strange journey. Unlike every other mainline game he is a grown man and has no prior connection to any of the events in the game.
He isn't usimg magic though, the gun is (^:
Jrpg is not a genre.
Ness?
PK ~~ magic
PSI is magic, don't pretend it's not
Haken and Kaguya from endless frontier
...
Thank you. Clunky retro looking retro looking robots are instantly my favorite character in whatever they're in. I loved Robo in CT and Ershin in BoFIV and this guy looks precious and too good for this world, I already love him
It's 1 of 7 main characters.
Its rather important as it stops a doomsday ship from being fully operational.
Its scenario is fairly easy compared to others, doubly so because mecs are arguably the most broken race in the game.
SaGa Frontier is generally the easiest in the series, but is still a game that isn't retard friendly because of how skills are learned and character stat growth is earned. Nonetheless, it's a damn good game that's worth playing at least once.
How? I thought the characters represented different methods of attacks.
Ness=PSI
Poo=Physical Attacks
Paula=Magic
Jeff= Science
Madotsuki form Yume Nikki.
The effects aren't actually magic because they are just part of her dreams.
Checkmate atheists.
Just because Yume Nikki was made in RPG maker doesn't make it a JRPG.
I think some fire emblem games count.
>can you lift a sword the size of 2 doors you cant
youtube.com
>can fight monsters and skeletons in real life no
africans are a thing, user
PSI as a mechanic is equivalent to magic in other games, and everyone but Jeff uses it
Thank you. SaGa has always seemed like a cool series to me but I have to admit that the aspect of how character growth works always kind of made me nervous. I have heard of some games where you will basically be unable to continue if you haven't been focusing on the right stats which had put me off. Though I guess if SF1 is a good starting place I'll hace tp try it. Thanks user.
>dragon's breath shell
>elemental ore
it's magnesium you retard, kids learn what magnesium is in middle school science, are you 8 years old or a homeschooled manchild?
Randi from Secret of Mana
I'm pretty sure he means who has only attack as an option.
but secret of mana has 24 spells between 8 spirits, and randi can use all of them, and is in fact the only one that can use the spell to awaken the mana sword
I think you can get through Final Fantasy without needing a spell on every character
In fact, you can do that with most of them
It was made by a Japanese guy, that make it a JRPG.
Why do people always point to Cloud as the first jrpg hero with stupidly spikey hair?
>moving the goal post
Don't overthink it m8. As long as you don't grind/play like it's a Final Fantasy game, you'll do fine. Sparking techs is the tightest shit, especially when it's a skill that saves your ass from getting wiped out.
the sword is smaller than the dude not by that much but still but it does seem pretty sharp
