Up to you on who you like better. As for Blackwall or Ironbull, personally I found Ironbull meh but Blackwall really grew on me, too bad I passed the point where you can begin his romance and missed out on it.

i usually always help templars because templar enemies are really hard to kill, while the dindu mages go down fast

Actually you can dump Blackwall when he reveals he's a bandit child murderer and start riding the bull, if you don't save his friends though he'll betray you and try to kill you and you look like a huge faggot to all of Thedas. .
