I'd host, but it's the Steam version and non-Steam clients apparently have issues connecting to it. It works fine the other way from what I recall.

I had the same issue. The hlrally version is fine, the copy of HL in the last thread is fucky and gave me the autistic screeching as well. It works fine when installed in the official Steam version.

If the game crashes while loading, try doing it several times.

I'm trying but half life complains about "This program must be run under Win32" despite being on windows 8. Got it started twice despite doing nothing, but i hadn't placed the rally mod properly those times.

Use WinXP compatibility mode?

tried that really all i had to do was It won't let me change game though, i'm assuming thats what i need to open hlrally?

If you're using the Steam version, restart Steam. You'll see Half-Life Rally in your library.

Server's down due to the host being busy. If anyone else wants to host, just remember to type "sv_lan 0", forward port 27015 and enable the horn for shenanigans.
