The curse of clan Toreador is that they're hyper passionate and loving, but burn out those feelings rather quickly. They cannot maintain any lengthy relationships because of this, and just hop from on all-consuming passion to another.

She probably does genuinely love the MC, but will only do so for about a week.

Brujah or Tremere for a first (full combat) playthrough?

Tremere, my first playthrough was Brujah and it felt very bland.

For my first playthrough I went Tremere. I didn't even really use disciplines (didn't realise how good they were) and I got through it with no issue.

I played a bit on a friend's PC ages ago, IIRC Brujah was just spamming left click and occasionally turning on Celerity if the fight was particularly hard

Yeah Brujah, Venture and Toreador feel a bit boring due to not having any cool unique disciplines.

you can do fine using only your blood magic for offense. it's worth putting some points into defense though. the biggest thing is to make sure you have lots of blood packs handy. also your blood strike and blood salvo return the blood cost if you're standing still so be aware of that

Thaumaturgy and melee goes very well together.

You need a combat skill, definitely. Thaumaturgy is extremely powerful, you use the shield for protection, the first dot to demolish bosses if you spam it, and the blood purge to AoE stun everyone around you for as long as you want. BUT it costs a shitton of blood to do all that. You will need something like melee to whack the stunned opponent or finish off the cannon fodder.

I heard that she was like this super hard boss but I got there and just flamethrowered her ass and beat her in like 10 seconds. Did I miss something?

Steyr AUG is the most powerful weapon in the game, it kills that bitch in a heartbeat.

Oh sure, Deus Ex is definitely better, but I mean games like those 2. Why aren't we seeing more of them? The new Prey and the Dishonored games are kind of similar, but not nearly as good imo. Immersive sims should have taken off like nothing else and we're left with a couple mediocre new games here and there.

Literally how? Not the guy you quoted, but this game is the evolution of Deus Ex. It builds upon Deus Ex and greatly expands the writing dimension of the game. One could say that it shifts the focus of the game from the action (like in Deus Ex) to the writing itself, but I'd say the writing is just another way to roleplay.

The clans offer replaying potential by implementing some of the augs available in Deus Ex but not all of them at once. The hacking is fixed and there are many more useful skills this time round.

I guess one of the things that Deus Ex did a lot better is to allow you to kill NPCs outside of quests and have there be consequences in the dialogue. Deus Ex also has a lot more quests with multiple ACTION ways to solve them (sneaking, combat, lockpicking). VTMB also has that, but many quests replace some of the action methods with dialogue, which I vastly prefer, but some people like the action more, it's subjective.

Human Revolution and Mankind Divided aren't mediocre. Hell - Prague is without doubt the best hub area around.
Admittedly they're part of Deus Ex, but still they're something. Other series should try it though.

I wish there was more interactions with clans. Would have been nice for there to have been hubs for each clan where you could hang out with others of your kind.

Indeed, inter-clan dialogue was great. We only got a small piece of that heaven with Tung's own description of the clans and Gary chimping out against Toreadors.

A social character is fine for the first half, but if you can't fight well later on you're fucked.
