Why aren't you learning Japanese in order to play untranslated video games?

Why aren't you learning Japanese in order to play untranslated video games?

Because they're all garbage weebshit

Everything good is translated. Actually, something being untranslated, or with no plans of being translated, serves as a great filter to keep the garbage away.

B-but I am?

Because everything is getting translated now.
We live in a timeline where Sengoku Rance is getting an official western release.
The Trails in the Sky trilogy is complete.
That train lolige is coming over.

Fucking anything is possible.

Because I'm an unmotivated piece of trash who couldn't do anything past high school

weird. It's almost as if OP is trying to post a video game thread.

But he posted this instead???

Why are you posting pedo shit?

Because I'm dead inside.

Because out of all the aspects of Japanese culture worth studying for, games are the least interesting to me.
I studied to to be able to read books that have not been translated, or lost something in translation, to be able to move around the country freely, and most importantly to be able to talk to people more personally.

The very few Jap games I found interesting were translated long time ago.

でも、毎日日本語を勉強します。

If I am going to force myself study I'd study relevant shit that would help me.

>します
しっています

I see you are improving.

Not necessarily. Actually, I'm pretty sure native jap would say します here, though technically both are acceptable.

Because it's too hard and I'm lazy, just using machine translation and don't give a shit.

Because I prefer my japanese games dubbed in english since I'm not a filthy weeb and regularly have sex. Fight me about it.

I want that little girl to step on myself!

fpbp

I have zero drive to do anything that betters myself, is why.

Nome of the games I play need to be translated

To be honest, learning Japanese is not exactly "bettering oneself". It's more of a "the things people are willing to go through for porn" category.

That too.
Though, the fact that I can understand small chunks of what's there when I just want the fornication sometimes just drives me insane. I can't not read it.

How u traslate games with "ATLAS" ??

By the time I could play games and read light novels in Japanese. I grew out of video games, visual novels and anime. Sucks.

Why are you here if you grew out of video games?

how can i learn japanese in one day

Because I always get bored when learning grammar and kanji

here's Gal Gun VR ghost panties

you can learn katakana and hiragana in a few days

No one cares, VR is dead.

>You can learn this useless shit in a few days

I am goddamnit, now stop posting this thread

yes I'm sure they will be faithful, quality releases

hang yourself

I am. Can't wait to move on to vocab already. It physically hurts recognizing characters but still not know in what context they're being used.

I have my JLPT examination 2 in december, I think I'll clear it easily enough

I like these threads because I can show off my VN screenshots, but don't you think this frequency is getting a little ridiculous?

Level?
3 is laughably easy, but 2 is a pretty harsh jump in difficulty. Level 1 isn't actually that much harder than level 2.

Habit, I have not played a single game in over a year. I still keep up with the news and memes tho.

fuck this

I already know japanese

First is horizontal and second is vertical, real fucking simple. シ and ツ are exactly the same.

士 > 士気
土 > 土気色
Have fun

俺も >.

I've got no discipline

儂もだ

>Katakana and hiragana
>useless
Yeah, good luck reading the rest of a Japanese sentence that isn't kanji.

What are some good games that never came out of Japan?

Because I lack the desire or time to do so that i'd rather spend playing video games or dev'ing

Why do you bother coming to Sup Forums?

I gave it a tought some 20 years ago when the world wasn't as globalized as now

Today it doesn't make sense, since anything worth playing will be translated from launch.

You can't read anything witht those alone

Do people actually have trouble with this? It seems obvious to me.

Insecure much?

What was your learning routine?
I'm just about finishing memorizing all the hira/katakana

it mainly revolved around anki
then reading and anki
you have an extremely long way to go btw

A tip. One is an "N" sound, right? and the other is "SO". I always picture "SO" as something sad with a downward inflection. Hence the "eye" looking downward. And I picture "N" as something nice. Like you eat something tasty. Hence the "eye" looking up. Don't know how much sense this does to anyone else but that's how I learned to separate the two. Same with Shi and tsu.

...

fpbp

I started four years ago. Played like, 30 text heavy games in the first couple years in Nip, but tapered off after that. Still play games in Japanese though. Currently playing Dragon Quest XI.

Not worth the time investment. I already have so many games on backlog that I really don't need any more.

It is like that, but it can be less clear in handwriting, but it's usually obvious through context. Still, it gave me trouble when I started too.

You can play most Japanese games that aren't targeted exclusively to adults without knowing a single kanji, retard.

Stop making this thread everyday you stupid fucking retard.

My backlog is huge. I don't want to make it bigger right now.

Mostly my commitment. I'm going to try again using a structured system this time.

Because I can't learn Japanese.

>Learning Japanese to read trivial shit like play and score
And you call other people retards

...

he is right tho

That's the mistake I made. It became unmanageable after I became decent at Japanese. Now it'll keep me busy for a few more years.

Thanks to the growing Asia market, more titles are being released with English text/menus outside of western release
I'm gonna be importing Taiko Drum Master for PS4 thanks to this

Japan literally has the best fiction works, and has reached peak in all forms entertainment
The only things that stand in the way is the language barrier and censorship laws

I'm been working on it so I can play the metal max series. But I lack drive and commitment. So next month I'm going to enroll in a year long course and try again this way. I simply don't have it in me to grind flash cards.

>japanese games wish they were japanese
huh? do you know what weeaboo means?

シ = regular smiley face

ツ = Sonic the Hedgehog

>Finally stop being lazy and start learning Japanese primarily for video games a few years ago.
>Suddenly a lot of games I never expected to get localized are getting localized.

But I don't really regret it. It's nice to be able to play games in Japanese, especially when the localizations are fucked.

>Be Chinese
>Learn hiragana/katakana
>Can now play eroge and have a gist of what action gets me to what scene

>儂もだ
Washi?
SERIOUSLY?
Are you 89 years old farmer from Kyushu?

With hiragana alone? Yes, you can. It can be confusing and difficult but you can definitely read Japanese with Hiragana alone. Not that you should though. The only things you can read with kanji only is long words like 国際教育会議. Kanji + Hira with a side order of kata is the best.

Games whose audience includes kids have ALL their text in hiragana, double retard. Even text-heavy RPGs.

to talk about """""""""video games""""""""" and post porn
you're not about to make the "Sup Forums is animae webieste " right?

Not him but kek, I didn't even know this was a thing.

>RPGs
So nothing

Forget Japanese, you can't even read English. Kill yourself.

Because I already speak Japanese

We having another daily laugh at EOPs thread?

Are you unironically retarded?

cause only good games get translated
shovelware stays there

Washi is used in kansai dialect often. It's instead of watashi. Listen to characters in anime or games that speak with Kansai and you'll seldom hear watashi but instead washi. You don't need to be super-old to use washi either. Characters that are in their 50's sometimes use washi. But unless you establish a clear Kansai dialect, speaking like this to actual Japanese people can be seen as weird if you're in your 20's-40's

Don't spout words you don't know the meaning of newfriend.

But it is, fag

Learning a language can be a valuable skill in real life. however, Japanese..not really. There is very little to be missed by not knowing it because those games come to the western market.

>Makes a claim without any basis
>Calls others retarded

Don't pay for wanikani

Because I already have an endless backlog of video games, movies, TV shows, books and music.

>Can't even read a single sentence
>Calls others retarded
Fucking faggot

>tfw starting to recognise sounds in yakuza 6's karaoke
by next year I might be at the level of a toddler

Not really. I was repeatedly shocked to see how books and manga aiming at 11-14 demographics either lacked furigana, or had it employed in the weirdest of places (e.g. common and easy words had furigana, while the difficult and obscure did not). I was repeatedly burned badly when I was picking up books and manga aimed at children to practice reading.

Washi (儂) is a very archaic pronoun for me (in manga and aime, you'll see it together with "oira" (archaic reading of 俺等) to be used by colorful weird old characters or demons.
Washi is actually an archaic form of the symbol for kare 彼, so it's literally refering to yourself in third person. It used to be extremely humble, now it's just a popular "old people from countryside" stereotype. Or something that people from Kansai say, because, FUCKING KANSAIBEN.

Yeah, by people over seventy. It's extremely self-depricating and implies resignation (logical with age). And even then, they don't use the symbol, they just write it in hiragana. The symbol has literally been removed from the list of commonly used symbols in Japanse like two decades ago.
Also: Kainsaiben does not count. That is not Japanese. It's a nation-wide fraud, a stupid show they put up for the tourists, or to get themselves jobs in comedy.
NOBODY talks kansaiben in Japan when they are surrounded by other kansai people. They are just conning others into thinking anyone seriously uses that crap.
It's like hungarian.

Because I'm learning Japanese to get a cute japanese girlfriend instead.
And then maybe play games with her sometimes.

Why aim any lower than than the highest you could aim?

Not him but wow, you have some severe autism.
