Flanderization isn't always a bad thing depending on the tone of the source material. And TF2 is very appropriate for flanderizing. I just take him for a comic relief desu.
It is bad when it's unfunny though. Sniper's parents being NZ could have theoretically been funny but it really wasn't . Medic was similar, he was the second most flanderized character imo yet not even half as funny.
Heavy was actually given a proper backstory, same with Demoman, made me like the characters more especially Demo.

Some of these are pretty good because they actually present the changes in the meta whenever the cart reachers certain points. Something that I cannot recall seeing in Overwatch. Maybe there is this one Torb in the beginning of the map but thats about it.
