It is basically only soul games that does this type of games good, it's not like the FPS genre where they shit out CoD and Lawbreakers etc. Every Soulborne game is fucking quality and even though Sup Forums always find flaws they are fucking enjoable.

Wouldn't armor design be somewhat effected by this? Ontop of reusing weapon types because Dark Souls 1-3 did EVERYTHING.

You shut the fuck up. Being in the future opens up whole new avenues for creative weapons, abilities, enemies and gameplay mechanics. Souls / BB was inspired by popular Japanese manga like Berserk, European fables and famous Gothic Horror stuff like Frankenstein and Dracula.

If we're talking about dark-future souls you've got tons of well-known sci-fi horror movies and novels to draw influence from. Also the manga Blame!
