Tabata was wrong on all counts.
Tabata is a generational hypocrite bent on dissecting the teenage ideology into little pieces.
I can't remember any music from the soundtrack and I just played through the game last week.
Wanderlust
Stand Your Ground
Crystalline Chill
Veiled in Black
Etc
Yeah, I legitimately can't remember a single track. Weird, that. I guess it was as bland and mediocre as everything else in the game. Shame it did so well, would have been nice having it flop, forcing SE to maybe rethink their path toward western lukewarm mediocrity that sells gangbusters to mouth breathers calling it the best whatever genre game ever made.
Meanwhile, just naming the zone of somewhere in FFXI will instantly play the music in my head. Like Rolanberry Fields. Just, boom, youtu.be
The original soundtrack is amazing. too bad they're insecure as fuck and ruined it by buying in shitty covers of american songs
That's because it's an MMO you spent hundreds of hours in and pretended to enjoy.
I can do the same for IV, V, VI, VII, some of VIII, and IX.
Check it out. Cosmo Canyon. Don't pretend you didn't hear it.
He managed to make only a couple memorable ones. Meanwhile in one city in LR:

I know yoko did most of the music for ff15. Im just saying he managed to make her get a couple of tracks of hers to stand out. She seems more on top in kingdom hearts.

XV had no personality to the music. It was elevator music 90% percent of the time.
here is the god tier stuff.

I like its Chocobo theme.
FF13-2 was the peak of post-FF10 music
>Was Tabata right, Sup Forums?

Even World of FF has better music.
Contrarians
Whatever no name did this soundtrack does not even hold a candle to Uematsu's work in FF4-10.
Anyone can make epic orchestral music to hype you up. It takes a god to create the type of hype music that Uematsu did.
As an example, The Extreme.
You didn't even play the game
youtube.com
What genre would this even be classified as? Electrorchestra?
There's like one song in this game that's memorable to me. The fact that I spent the majority of the game listening to tracks from older FFs speaks volumes about the game's soundtrack. Honestly I'd say the mere fact they included the option to listen to older songs during regular gameplay in the first place shows even SE knew how bland it was.
God no, it's one of the worst.
Not an argument.
HOLY FUCK I forgot how much I loved this song.
Fuck FFXIII-2 as a game, but it's soundtrack was spectacular.
Only song I remember is Stand By Me. Mainly due to its exposure outside of the game in trailers and commercials.
it was good tabata. Not the best, but very good
Ignore the angry children
well done on a good job
Somnus is iconic.
youtube.com
it's a good soundtrack and probably the best part of this shitty game
good songs:

What the fuck where was that in the game? Dammit Tabata.
forgot a song:

Is this supposed to be good? This is on par with the most generic and well-known Two Steps From Hell songs.
It was good but forgettable, barring the original Nomura-era theme song and the cringy Stand By Me. World of FF and FFXIV shine far brighter. Hell, 13-2 and 13:LR were great too.
Best tracks from each game
>FFI
Mt. Gulg
>FFII
Rebel Army
>FFIII
Crystal Tower
>FFIV
The Final Battle (Zeromus's theme)
>FFV
Battle at the Big Bridge
>FFVI
Terra's Theme
>FFVII
JENOVA
>FFVIII
Man with the Machine Gun
>FFIX
The Dark Messenger (kuja's battle music)
>FFX
Battle Theme
>FFXII
Boss Battle
>FFXIII
Saber's Edge
>FFXV
Sunset Waltz
R8 and H8
XIV and the XIII trilogy have tremendously overrated music because of fanboyism
>and the cringy Stand By Me.
you have to grow up someday boy
>barring the original Nomura-era theme song
You've got it all fucked up lad.
>Somnus
>Omnis Lacrima
>Valse di Fantastica
Shimomura was at her best when Nomura was still the director, which isn't surprising.
Unfortunately half a soundtrack or so isn't a whole soundtrack.
And Answers is the best song in FFXIV
A pretty generic soundtrack. Not exactly Yoko's best work. A bunch of orchestral noise without any soul.
Starting with IV:
>IV
Theme of Love
>V
Decisive Battle
>VI
Sure yeah Terra's Theme
>VII
Maybe; I like Flowers Blooming in the Church
Haven't played VIII
>IX
Vivi's Theme
>X
FUCK NO it's clearly Besaid or Spira Unplugged.
>XII
It's Streets of Rabanastre
>XIII
The Vestige clearly
>XV
Hard to say, either Veiled in Black arrangement or Wanderlust
see There are song with soul, but they are too few and far between and quite frankly belonged to a different game.
it mirrors the game itself
More like a fraction. The entire soundtrack has over 90 songs on it and I can only remember those few and Stand Your Ground.
I mean Up for the Challenge, not Stand Your Ground. SYG was shit.
Contrarian.
It was an incredible soundtrack, and I think this is the song that has grown on me the most. Haven't seen it mentioned yet
youtube.com
I still feel cheated by the game. All of its good points were dragged down by the whole and I'll never forgive them for all the shit they showed in the trailers that was not in the game or had nothing to do with the game.
Nobody ever gives any love to Hymn of the Fayth
>Half the soundtrack sounds like outsourced stock music
yeah no
I haven't played to many but I doubt the osts are ever as consistent as ff14.
I also liked Crystal Chronicles music cause it set the mood perfect for the areas
youtube.com
case in point Not to mention that horrendous Lestallum theme.
There's like 2 songs I remember, so that's something I guess.
This is a soulless attempt to redo FFVIII - Fisherman's Horizon.
kek that sounds almost exactly like a theme from Kamidori
youtu.be
How? Up to the Challenge is actually exciting and less likely to get on your nerves the third time it plays.
>XIV has an amazing soundtrack despite needing hundreds and hundreds of songs due to being a MMO.
>XV's is entirely forgettable.
The irony is that this theme is infinitely superior too. Thanks for posting. It's comfy as fuck.
XIV isn't "amazing" it's mediocre.
XV actually has personality.
>actually believing this
Now thats a twist. The game itself is comfy as heck, a must play imo, just saying
In all the music I've heard in game and shared online XIV seems wholly unremarkable.
Just because you play a game for hundreds of hours doesn't make it super good by default.
>user thinks people only like certain songs after listening to them over and over for hours
uh
Beause you conflate your feelings about the gameplay with the music and story and whatnot.
Happens all the time.
ffxiv boss songs actually rely on making a really strong first impression
>personality
Yeah, the uninspired orchestration behind that lame-ass Latin chanting was totally distinctive and memorable. Not Skyrim tier at all.
This is how you properly pull that shit off.
forgot muh other link
>XIV isn't "amazing" it's mediocre.
it has more variety in it's OST than XV's:

Variety doesn't mean quality
XV has by far the most forgettable soundtrack in the series. There's exactly 1 piece of music in the entire game that caught my attention at all, and that's the first 30 seconds or so of the ambient music that will play during mornings outside. That's it.
Everything else was boring at best, and just fucking awful at worst.
I think the MMOs, XII, most of XIII trilogy, and even early FF music had a lot more forgettable tracks.
>If you're going to post shit from Alex don't forget the best one.
>youtube.com
fuck, I thought I did.
too bad XV lacks both in the OST department
Honestly, the biggest problem is not FFXV's soundtrack itself, but the game's lack of memorable or emotionally-charged scenes. No one is going to give a fuck about the Ifrit boss fight or the town cities a few months after playing because those parts themselves were pretty forgettable.
They also didn't know HOW to use the songs they had either. Playing Somnus the way they did in Lucis before the final battle was absolutely abhorrent.
the only good osts were the ones that were made for years in the VS trailers, etc.
>that SONIC BOOOOM at the beginning
holy shit
why don't more JRPGs have rock music in their soundtracks? it's almost always an orchestra or some soft shit.
I think FFXIII chocobo theme was better than FFXV.youtube.com
As much as i don't like FFXIII I think that it surpasses XV in terms of soundtrack and use of soundtrack.
youtube.com
I still love Ttitan's theme.
one of the first JRPGs I ever played had a rock like atheistic to the music

youtube.com
I love how the composers are allowed to go nuts with their soundtracks since FFXIII-2

I don't remember much of the FFXV soundtrack standing out, and I can really only recall the first bit of the generic battle theme
XIV had a pretty cool soundtrack, though.

You got the best song of the franchise, Terra's Theme, correct. You're okay in my book. Although I definitely find it puzzling how much you prefer the battle themes.
I: Undersea Shrine, II: Pandemonium Castle, III: Forbidden Land of Eureka, IV: Battle With The Four Fiends, V: Lenna's Theme, VI: Terra's Theme, VII: Those Chosen by the Planet, BCVII: Desperate Crisis, DoCVII: Redemption, CCVII: The Price of Freedom, VIII: Maybe I'm a Lion, IX: Rose of May, X: (unreleased) Original Sin, X-2: Eternity: Memory of Lightwaves, XII: Phon Coast, XIII: Dust to Dust, XIII-2: Heart of Chaos, LRXIII: Claire Farron
