When is the direct?
They usually wait until the end of a console's life for the new PM they did it with the N64, the gamecube, (not the wii) the wii u, the 3ds, etc.

The last good game Nintendo made was TTYD.
The direct is on the 13th, hence why I imagine if a PM is announced in it it will be a port/remake of an old game

If they do announce one it probably will be.
The only time that a new PM was announced at the start of a consoles life was SPM, because it was originally meant for the GameCube but they ported it to the Wii mid-development and trashed the original version because the wii came out before the release date.
Sticker star was announced at the start of the 3DS too, remember the beta screens?

No, Paper Mario is dead. Mario and Luigi exists and Nintendo will probably look at the Color Splash sales and trailer's like/dislike ratio and equate this as "nobody rikes papa mayro anymowah" and cancel the series as a whole.

Super and SS sold more than 64 and TTYD, CS sold less than a million, but they will probably see it as it being on wiiu instead of being not what people wanted

not a huge gap between SS and TTYD. As for SPM, I have no doubt that many people bought it thinking it would be a regular PM game, a lot of people bought it just because it's a Mario game, and because the Wii had a fuckhuge userbase anyway. Not because people liked SPM over true PM.

I still have faith IS can still make a good PM game if they fire/demote tanabe. Honestly, i think Iwata enabled miyamoto too much, which is why now that he is gone we are getting more risk taking games.
I don't want to admit it but I never played 64 I had an N64 but I never got that one of all games. I can't speak for that game.

Like PM64/TTYD but with mostly weird gravity, unless you are on Earth for some segments.
Or regular gravity if it seems like a better movement decision. Game devs have the power to be creative and make things up so the gravity doesn't necessarily need to be "realistic."
I don't think the 64/TTYD camera would fit for a galaxy game

Recently on Sup Forums people have liked Super, in the long-run, most people were disappointed after they beat it (as was I) because we felt ripped-off that it wasn't a real old-fashioned paper mario game.
Although, as a standalone, it was enjoyable and good.

Super was alrght, i get why people complain about the characters being mostly shapes but it fits in that the game is set in alternate dimensions
If it was a RPG like the other 2 games it would be even better and maybe people wouldn't complain as much about it
Yeah the very next chapter will have you walking back and forth between the entrance of a cave and a camp 5 times.
TTYD was somewhat padded because of time constraints, I would rather they reduce the chapter lenght than make those boring backtracking sections that last until chapter 7
I really love Super, it has some extremely memorable characters in my opinion

This Nintendo Direct is going to be all about the stuff we already know about, with MAYBE some discussion of OS updates and MAYBE a small-scale new reveal or two.
I really, really wouldn't get my hopes too high.
You know that beta image doesn't really suggest the game would have been that different.The Sticker System was already in place before Miyamoto intervened and in most the screenshots Mario doesn't even have a partner following him. And the only unique enemy was a Purple Monty mole with a beard.
Miyamoto could have called it boring TTYD clone because maybe the game was just a bunch of linear corridors like TTYD.
Accoding to the iwata asks there was an even earlier build than the one shown at the 3DS event, where it was TTYD and had partners and OC and no stickers.
They included stickers and removed all the other stuff when miyamoto complained it was a port of TTYD

That doesn't make any sense. According to the Iwata Asks they started developing a prototype at the end of 2009. Then they showed off those screenshots of the prototype 7 months later at E3 2010. Then Miyamoto played the prototype after E3 after they had already shown the images. Hence the beta images are the prototype that Miyamoto called a TTYD port.
Hell the image you showed me right there has Tanabe say that the original plan included Stickers.
It doesn't make sense since tanabe said that in the early build stickers were only for overworld puzzles, yet the pictures show it being used in battle
So somewhere the time is fucked up or they are talking about an earlier event where no pics leaked from
Perhaps in the beta images the attacks looking like stickers was an aesthetic choice rather than an actual mechanic. I mean if it was an earlier event then surely the Chain Chomp and King Monty Mole would have still been in the game since that would have been after Miyamoto told them to change it.
I think it's most likely Miyamoto meant it was a TTYD port mechanically.
Later yet miyamoto told the team to only use characters from past mario games, which tanabe interpretated as only toads and bland enemies.
He was probably traumatized at the super's characters
Super character's do suck though. The standard Mario enemies are easily better designs.
