The camara gimmick, short as fuck, looked horrible, played like shit.

nothing I fucking love it

>2006/2007
>See trailers for first Kane and Lynch
>Expect a squad based Hitman, or at least a heist game.
>End result is a good, not great, game with some shortcomings. However, it all falls apart near the end with Cuba
KL 2 in general though, fuck

I agree, these games were a tad buggy, bit god damn if they aren't fun.

10/10 game. Kill yourself.

Idea was great, problem was with their engine which was not suited for full on TPS.

I'm going in this franchise for the first time ever, what am I in for?

The Odd Couple - The Vidya

OP here

The first game is painfully average, the OST is awesome and the theme is gritty and interesting. The gameplay is ok at best, the enemies are bullet sponges to conpensate for difficulty. Give a try if it interests you. The second game is trying a new style called "Documentary Shooter" that makes the camera shaky, the lights brighter, the video buffer, etc... Many people have said that the new camera is atrocious and makes people sick, besides that, the story is worse than the first game and the awesome OST makes a comeback, but still an entertaining shooter if you can pick it up for cheap and play it with a friend.

I love both games, sadly IOI is concentrated on Hitman now. The abrupt ending at the end makes me think of what would happen next. The third game is never coming out.

Shit gameplay, 4 hours long, excellent movie.

Jeff Gerstmann

The characters look pretty lame.

>unnecessary sequel
>gimmick camera
>retarded plot
>short as fuck

The original game was a mediocre shooter, but it had a great plot.

I agree. It had it's problems, but there aren't any other games that have such a gritty, disgusting atmosphere.

Second game is the definition of bullet sponge enemies.

The main strengths of the series are the tone, soundtrack, atmosphere, and multiplayer. I genuinely believe that you could create a dedicated multiplayer game using the Kane and Lynch concept that would be even more popular than Payday, but they kept trying way too hard to sell an edgy single player storyline.

Gameplay was averge, but the story had some suprisingly kino moments.

YOU SHOULD HAVE LET ME TALK TO THEM!

>but it had a great plot.
The first half of it.
It went from a heist movie with family drama to shadowy super organization that topples banana republics that you need to stop as you storm through city in revolution and jungles.
Tone change was jarring and they went too far with trying to make the story epic in the second part.

The original Kane & Lynch is unironically one of my favorite games of all time.

It's hard to formulate, as even back then I realized how average the actual TPS gameplay way, but the story and atmosphere of the first half of the game (Before shit gets all guerrilla) really resonated with me. The two protagonists really says it all.

LYNCH, SNAP OUT OF IT!

>The first half of it.
True. It's been a while since I've played it, I remember the earlier bits the best.

Played the shit out of it.

Jeff Gerstmann and the death of one major gaming website.

This. IOI deserves a fucking medal for making the main characters selfish scumbags and roll with it. Every other game would try to paint the violence committed throughout the story as heroic or necessary, but not Kane & Lynch. I mean, what kind of person do you epect them to be considering the lives they've lead? In the end, the game judges its characters morally by denying the player the satisfaction of a good ending. I love that.

The best part of Hitman Absolution was the fact that Kane and Lynch were in one of the South levels, and if you get them angry theyre ridiculously good shots

It really feels like there were hours of story that were cut between those two sections. I didn't enjoy the game but I'm really curious about what was cut, if anything was even cut.

nothing, it found it's aesthetic and did it well

One of my favourite game industry stories of all time, it's just so fucking delicious.

Jeff was the first game, not the second.

Motion sickness untermensch genocide - best day of my life. K&L 1/2 are in my top atmospheric cinematic shooters after Max Payne 1.

is absolution worth playing?

you can beat both games in 8 hours

story is okay, gameplay is horrific

When Kane and Lynch are the best part of the game probably not.

NUDITY

PROTECT THE DAMN LIIIMMMOOOOOOO

I still remmember the half month that the multiplayer of K&L2 was active.
good times, the undercover cop mod was great.

Maybe the games did not delivered at the end but the idies and the hype was awsome. the trailers were insane.

>making freedom fighters 2
>ends somehow up as kayne & lynch
>FF2 never ever
EVERYTHING!!!!

yes, but just fuck about, playing it stealthily sucks ass and is rather boring the only hitman to have shit stealth

I always thought that the character Trevor in GTA V was inspired by this game. Was a good game.

>

Interesting concept with meh execution.

in the first level of kane and lynch 2 you can see some unused screenshots in a apatment

in hitman absolution you can hear a chinese song from kl2

Am I the only one who though the original Kane and Lynch was pretty good? I mean the shooting was kinf of shit and the plot not GREAT. But overall I'd say like at least a 7/10 for me.

The plot was the only reason I kept playing. Shit was somehow super gritty without being edgy. i've always liked K&L for that

personally, It's an 8/10 game for me. until jungle

I never got the hate either. At its worst, Kane and Lynch was a functional third person shooter.

It was. The moment where Kane's wife gets killed really hit me emotionally. Like people said, though, the game does fall apart when you stop doing Tarantino/Michael Mann stuff and start shooting it up with Cuban rebels.

the voice acting in booth games are fucking awesome. it's honestly the first time i appreciate voice acting in a video game

I remember enjoying the atmosphere but that the writing took a major "i regret playing this piece of shit game" tier of drop when it came to two different endings, as in they are both shit.

Havent played the sequel.

Literally nothing but Sup Forums fags will always find something to complain

The endings came off as a little underwhelming since the game was basically you punishing you based on things you weren't responsible for. If you take the helicopter and leave the rest of your team to die to save your daughter, the game acts like you're a monster even though the player isn't the one with a history of betraying people. All of that shit happened before the main story even started. If you do the honorable thing and stick around to save the others, things aren't much better because Kane took too long to get there. The problem is that it's absolutely impossible for the player to have gotten there any sooner because everything was linear up to that point.

They're effective if you look at the characters as just characters, but it feels weird for the game to condemn the player based on what the characters did during cutscenes.

I don't mean just that, its been like a decade since I played it but I think that no matter what ending you get your daughter dies

the idea of using miniDV camera caputre as a visual style is extremely cool and I think it should be explored more in a different, better video game, but everything else about K&L2 is utterly terrible.

The idea of mosaic censoring the gore like it's appearing on a news broadcast or liveleak or something is a really clever idea that deserves to be in a good game.

No

She doesn't die, she just gets shot if you decide to stay. She whines and moans at you if you decide to leave the others. The writers did a really bad job with the daughter since her reactions to the ending are either nonsensical or just annoying, since she's mad at you no matter what choice you make. It's a shame since the things she says in the trailers makes her sound a lot more interesting than she turned out to be.

this and i love them both, 2 more than 1 bc i don't much care for shitty squad tactics

I agree, she should give even less of a fuck about Kane's team than Kane.

The sequel confirms the daughter lives, so her wound wasn't fatal. but even disregarding the sequel, Kane reading her his letter in her last moments is a pretty good emotional hook.
Yeah, it's depressing, but that's exactly what they were going for.
Kane couldn't escape his life of bad decisions even if he tries to do the right thing for once in his life.

nothing

K&E is one of the last good games EA shat out before they went full LGBTSDFJISDFJISAFBCACD

Come to think of it the game indeed was very Michael Mannish. Fuck I will replay it now, I hope the gunplay didn't age too badly.

Also kinda want to play 2 after. I really miss story driven shooters man. Or just quality shooters in general. Replaying Vietcong 1 and having a blast.

Cool aesthetic, the gameplay was quite flat feeling. I recall being given a lot of short-range weapons for long-range encounters.

It has a lot in common with Max Payne 3
>old white american male protag in hostile foreign setting
>protag of ambiguous moral character
>disorienting and aggressive aesthetic design
>narrative characterised by a steady progression towards spiralling out of control
>protagonists make multiple failed attempts to rectify or re-assert control over the situation, ultimately just getting by the seat of their pants as it goes on

>JISDF

>IO Interactive announces a new Kane and Lynch game in an episodic structure like their recent Hitman
>6 single player episodes released bi-monthly, with multiplayer content such as new maps on a similar schedule
How hyped would you be?

Super Defense Force

Will it be on Switch?

No.

I would love this idea to be revisited with current hardware, it was a neat idea

>episodic
No.

All of my reee

Would you rather get a new K&L game or a Freedom Fighters sequel?

>episodes
I'd wait like 2 years after release to get it cheap unless they're really good. Fuck episodic bullshit.

Quite literally everything

Remember how K&L2 bombed so hard Universal walked away from plans to make a movie with Bruce Willis and Jamie Coxx, despite already doing casting and location hunt?

>wanting the game to be limited by Switch hardware
Back to the short bus with you.

I really liked the first one. The story was cool, having Kane and Lynch see different things sometimes was awesome.

The second being a fucking retarded pixel-blur censored camera filmed shit fest was just utterly retarded

enough

Gameplay wise they're average 3rd person cover shooters but they make up for it in almost every other aspect. The first game is a solid 8/10 in my book and even the inferior sequel is still a 7/10 imo.

Yep. They even had official posters drawn up.

I'm genuinely shocked there are people who liked K&L. I thought I was the only one. Though I didn't like the second

>black lynch

lolno

>there still no kane&lynch movie

Considering the quality of movies based on video games, that's a good thing.

yeah but if at least one ever happened to be good i wish it was this one

Uhhhhhhh goldeneye?? Piers Brosman did really good

>Willis
>Foxx
Doubt it

>EA
Idiot

...

Isn't this game where the FOOOOOOOOOOOUR HOOOOOOOURS meme came from?
