When did you realize that we NEVER had a truly great pirate game?

I thought Assassins Creed Rogue was pretty damn good.
Those games play themselves
Even Risen 2 is better.
I dunno man, Skies of Arcadia had pirates.
What is Sid Mier's Pirates???
Oh look, here comes the weeb.
WHEREDOYOUTHINKWEARE.jpg
OP, I really hope you didn't just post that, and this is some random shitposter, because you've just ruined your thread.
Monkey island
Sea of Thieves is actually shaping up nicely, shame Sup Forums will never play it because Microsoft
dumping some Alpha pics I took on my phone
...
fucking loved this game, probably the best casual game ever made
You don't need pirate games when the game is already pirated.
...
...
...
Sea of Thieves looks like it could be fun, but it also seems really simple. Like, what's there to it? Is there anything at stake? Can you steal treasure from other players? Can you kill your own crew? What do you do with the treasure? Can you buy a bigger ship?
What's the goal of the game?
>Those shitty textures
>That abysmal art design
whoa buddy
So far you dig up treasure or find chests on islands, cash them in, and last patch they added a shopkeeper that sold you the blunderbuss, drinking mug and hurdy gurdy you started with in previous sessions.
Keep in mind it's still in the alpha stages so they're primarily focusing on QoL and shit like server stress-testing.
I took it on my phone nigger, and it's still in Alpha
How the fuck is it still in alpha? Wasn't it announced like 3 years ago? Why did they even show it at E3 if it's that early?
Water gets pretty choppy sometimes, and the seafloor doesn't have a bottom in most places so it's pretty intimidating
>It's still in alpha
So it's finished.
It's basically a closed beta for xbox insiders, they just call it an alpha because they're still adding stuff weekly
You see that thread yesterday about all the changes that WoW went through before the beta even launched?
...
Can you stop shilling your shitty MMO please?
Calm waters are pretty comfy
>thread about pirate games
>"fuck off with your pirate game"
Remaster when? I never actually "beat" the story despite the hours I put in.
You're adding absolutely nothing to the thread. You're basically just spamming it with screenshots.
Sea of Thieves exists. We get it.
Retard alert
Excuse all the 'great looking water' pics, I just love the sunset.
And you did nothing but throw a buzzword at me, what are you contributing? Fuck off, at least I'm actually posting a video game.
So nu Sup Forums doesn't know that this exists right?
The version you played it likely the remaster, kiddo.
...
Probably buy and upgrade stuff for moar better bigger boats and guns. I'm hoping for something like basic quests to solve mysteries and find unusual treasures but that requires writing and stuff and so far it seems to follow the barebones open-world crafting/survival blueprint so I'm not holding my breath.
We Russians did have a series of awesome pirate games.
Do you know what a screenshot is jesus christ
If you want a good naval FPS, get Blackwake, 50 players in 3 vs 3 ship combat.
The captain controls the ship, the crew has to aim, reload and supply cannons, repair holes and sails, board the enemy ship etc.
It's a bit shallow but the teamplay aspect makes it fun and interesting.
nu-Sup Forums is so casual it makes reddit look competent, it's a shame though that there's no update to this, i do want a seamless world, that's the only thing the assassin's creed game did right, letting me leave my boat when i wanted too and not only in encounters
Last I heard there was zero reason to board other player ships, so until that changes I can't see it taking off.
I imagine the item crate here will be for managing what you have on your 'item wheel'
Also note the Chest of 1000 Grogs
Rare did mention something about bounty hunting and an honor system, that could add some depth to player interactions at least. They seem to want this to be a very social experience, you can even talk to enemy crews because chat is proximity-based
Do you know what an NDA is? I'm on Xbox dingus.
>more MP shit
i want single player games, the last thing i want to do is play some clunky ass shit where i have to depend on others
>pirates of the caribbean online
Sea Dogs:to each his own
lets you roam about the islands. The amount of roaming you are able to do is restricted by the paths but still it's as close to open-world as you can get in the series.
The game is also much harder iirc.
Well no shit, they remastered it a few times. I was clearly referring to anther more recent remaster.
Why set the bar so low? There's already too many bad remasters of good games.
Awesome game, although just like its predecessors - extremely buggy. I remember theres some sort of gentleman patch that fixes majority of dead end questlines that were broken due to poor Russian translations.
Any other games have similar party/crew management mechanics to that? Only one I can think of is Mountain Blade.
I remember playing some pirate game on the PC when I was a kid in the 90s. It had sword fighting. Can't remember what it was called though, but I'm sure many Sup Forumsirgins would like it.
Fine, then a proper sequel. I wanted a remaster like the 1993 or 2004 version-- no changes except improvements. I guess that's hard to expect in 2017.
I've actually raided a few ships successfully because waiting for sunken chests to surface invites sharks.
This is definitely not for you then, Rare specifically wants to empathize 'strength in numbers', the bigger crew of friends you get to play with you, the better you will do.
What is "sid meyers chasing baron raymundo for no reason like a fucking disney villain instead killing him the first time" Pirates
>Also dancing essential in the game
sid miers Pirates! was pretty damn good.
...
There are at least 2 great pirate games.
3 if you're young and enjoyed Black Flag.
What do you get for raiding ships? Can you swoop in and steal their loot?
Age of Pirates
But it's buggy and kinda shitty. But you can easily sink like 50 hours there if it hit the spot.
Sea of Theives is the next "early access" cash out incomplete bare bones game.
>added a merchant for a blunderbuss and like 2 other items
This game is the fucking blunderbuss, the devs have no work ethic and inevitably WILL cash out a half complete game.
so unless your friend all have the same time off on the same day to play together you're probably gonna get fucked by all the underage shits playing the game together, sounds like it's not fun at all, i hope its not free to play
>bare bones
It seems like the typical Rare situation where they're too ambitious for their own good and end up just barely meeting deadlines.
Yes! Treasure chests are just neutral items in the world once dug up. It's also a viable option to loot their cannon ammo reserves and other valuable resources 0
Did you only play the remake?
Also,
Best pirate games are:
Monkey island
Monkey Island 2
Sid Meier's pirates! (gold and remake)
Black flag (if you ignore the main missions)
Age of pirates
That old pirates of the caribbean game
I saw they're making an MP version of Assassins creed black flag.
I always thought it should have been a multiplayer game.
Problem is, it'll just be an arcadey shitpiss.
Fucking ubisoft.
I will admit I do have some concerns, but that's why I post of the alpha forums, hell I actively call out people who try to post terrible ideas like 'add base building like Fallout! :D"
>he doesnt want to be a gentleman pirate
its not like any of the minigames were hard
The night sky is pretty. Pardon the glare
Yes, that is a cave behind a waterfall. Yes, I found treasure in there.
Last few picsthen I'm done, a storm hit an outpost so I figured I'd hang out at the tavern and watch the rain.
When did you realize the Nu Man's Sky team stole your money to go to Burning Man?
...
...
And here's the last one. Cheers, me hearties
only redditors bought into that hype. so yeah i guess Sup Forums did fall for it
Underage shits are actually pretty terrible at coordinating since they don't have mics most of the time, this is a game about communication. Plus they don't know shit about sailing since they're typically too young to have played Wind Waker

You play as a pirate in the third half of MGS3, the entirely of MGS:PW, and in MGSV.
Oh fuck, this music. Instant nostalgia. Loved that game and so called "sequels"
A few years ago. Just wait for mine, please.
Don't remind me
