If only the gameplay was half as good as the art, then I might have enjoyed it. I guess I give it another try, but other than the boss battles and art, I wasn't very impressed.

Yeah it's good. Great bosses, exploration and potential for sequence breaking.

It's okay, but the areas don't really feel connected to one another.

At one moment you're in a forest and then next you're in a beach area and after that you're in a snowy area and then you're in a water zone, etc.

Plus the forced storytelling takes away from the experience IMO.

Boss battles are okay and I like the variety of magic you get from your fairy partner but outside of that I'd argue that it's quite overrated on here.

Where's the link to a pirated version of this game with all the DLC?

yes it's less about methodical exploration or puzzles thought, it's all about the movement, combat and bosses which are kinda bullet hell-ish

There's also multiple unlockable difficulties, extra modes where bosses are hard as fuck by default, DLC bosses that are even harder than anything in the base game its fucking bullshit

When you start a new game there is now options to change how boss scales

the game is pretty fun but the dialogue is like, almost illegible, it's like moeblob turned up to 11

I disagree. As someone who finds most modern game music forgettable, I thought Rabi Ribi's was actually pretty good. While I do have to admit that the OST didn't really stand out as much and it lacked a common theme, it did have some pretty memorable tracks.

So I think I fucked up by playing on Alternative mode, now I can't beat the fucking shopkeeper post-main game. Do I go back and do it all again on Normal story mode?

I can get her to half health at the most. I've wandered around everywhere and feel like I have damn near most the items I can get right now.

I'm doing one too in hard alternative and just recruited my 8th town member and I find the game much more easy than my first playthrough in normal standard
I don't think i'm better though but I figure the endgame would be pretty similar in both mode

Buffs you buy in town should have no impact but all items whether you bought it at her shop or found is going to make the fight harder

A low item% run really trivializes the fight but I still have a hard time with some summon

Just badges.
Equip the badge that lets you do more damage at the cost of making you take more damage.
You'll reduce her defenses as well.

Read the description it gives you when you start a game, if you feel like it's not right you can change as long as you have less than 3 town members
You can also change the difficulty during the first chapter, a bit after you reach the town

Depends on your skill, ability to git gud and avoiding ragequitting. Dunno about boss systems, because I played some time ago, but Normal difficulty is fairly challenging for average user. If you have any experience with metroidvanias, start on hard.

Of course I am using a gamepad... I didn't say the exploration was hard, I said it was lacking. Compare it to say, La-Mulana or Metroid, it's just not very interesting in my opinion.

Just get the PQube european physical release then, it comes with a soundtrack CD too.

Don't get your hopes up, alternative leveling doesn't make the game easier.
