Would you still reccomend me buying Metroid: Samus Returns even if I've already played AM2R?
Would you still reccomend me buying Metroid: Samus Returns even if I've already played AM2R?
they're probably going to be pretty different, so yeah
No one here has the game yet user. Wait for the reviews if you really aren't sure.
It'll play pretty differently, almost like a sequel even.
They're going to be radically different experiences due to large innovations and changes in basic gameplay and progression.
Where AM2R keeps it close to Super Metroid and Zero Mission (maintaining the semi-linear stage by stage aspect of Fusion), Samus Returns uses a new aiming system, a super meter system, and takes advantage of the 3DS system's unique features such as the dual screens.
I played it at PAX, they feel completely different. In fact, very little is similar beyond the basic premise: encountering and killing Metroids at different stages of development to access lower tunnels.
Already played it.
People draw the comparison
Metroid nes -> zero mission
When describing the game
I would say it is more like
Metroid Nes -> super metroid
It feels like a sequel with a vague resemblance.
Not a masterpiece as super though, I'm not even trying to suggest that. Just regsrding the magnitude of the differences
Would you say it's a solid game though?
They look completely fucking different.
Absolutely. Surface to area 2 or 3 is fucking amazing.
There is a low point chasing too many gammas ( because they run from you when they turn reddish from low health, and you have to play like an ace to kill them on the first try)
But afterwards it gets better and better.
Does map Discovery count towards percentage completed or is it just the items,?
...
That map is not accurate. The equivalent of area 4 is SR is area 5 (4 is brand new one)
And SR's area 5 is closer to the others in the towery shape
Sad thing is Nintendo are holding 2D Metroid hostage with this game so I fucking feel like I have to get the game. I'm looking forward to it and all, but Nintendo are a bunch of cunts for the amiibo-locked modes bullshit.
Neat didn't know that, do you how many new areas there are or is that the only one?
Played Zero Mission as my first Metroid game a couple weeks ago, should I play this next, or something else?
>3DS game
>buy
i felt this way but then i realized i'd be happier with no games at all than them trotting out some propped up corpse every year for a quick cash grab and then shutting shit down when it stops banking on nostalgia and desperation from actual fans
fuck that, i have some integrity
Play Super Metroid
Okay, I'll wait to play it on the SNES Classic.
...
How's the ending?
All areas are expanded with new segments but I think 4 is the totally new one. It has some very vague resemblance to the corridors between areas 3 and 4 of the gameboy game... I reckon
Good. New but not really surprising...
Chozo lore on the other hand... Oh boy... Oh boy...
Just gonna say that 100% the game is worth it
What do the Chozo Memories show?
Samus Returns is the next chronologicaly, and Super is the next after that.
I'd stick with that order. No reason to not keep it chronological.
Can't say, won't say
When does SR come out? I'm. thinking about dusting off my 3DS for it.
We'll can you tell me what Samus looks like under the suit?
Not fast enough to strip her
*Well
No, I'm not telling you shit, COP
this Friday
No, it needs to flop so this shitty overrated series stays dead.
Hopefully it will sell less than Fire Emblem games so Nintendo will continue to neglect Metroid.
She looks like Samus.
Does Samus's Fusion Varia and Fusion Gravity Suit still look like it did in Fusion?
Came here to say this.
Bag of sand and tastes like coins
I want an image.
...
Fusion mode is hard as chewing nails. I'm not anywhere near the suits
In in-game image of the best completion screen at the end of Samus Returns.
I don't think any reviewer manage to finish under whatever time is needed to unlock that. That would be the speedrunners thing
I guess I'll have to wait until Friday or Saturday then.
Fuck these watch the world burn shit opinions. We're killing IP's left and right in the presence of mobile gaming. Even if you don't like Metroid as a series, losing a franchise of its pedigree would be a loss for everyone in the long term.
How would u rank it next to zero mission?
This
Yes, the map and level design is pretty much completely different and there's a lot more new gameplay mechanics. It's also like twice the size/length of Super Metroid.
...
how do I dump the CIA
use GodMode9.
Do you have a link to a guide
Actually, it's pretty simple, you can download it from its github:
github.com
You can check this tutorial:
Thanks
Shit, i've messed up, it's not godmode9, its the Decrypt9WIP that the gbatemp tutorial uses.
Better controls, they are fucking perfect, seriously
No substantial sequence breaking though, but a tighter and at the same time longer playthrough
Lower boss count but overall better designed.
And trailers and people focus on the melee as a counter move. But the thing is you can instead freeze enemies from afar and break them with one punch.
It's a totally different playstyle that I favored in areas with organic monsters (robots can't be frozen).
Overall SR has some missteps along the way but nothing so outlandish as a stealth late game segment.
But ZM is still my favorite Metroid so...
Zero>super> returns= fusion >metroid2> metroid nes>>>>>>>>>> other m
>Returns = Fusion
Say no fucking more. Fusion is my jam.
When does the review embargo lift?
How's the music? Would you say Returns is better or worse than Am2r?
10 hours
That's fine. While I'm one of the few people who love Samus' monologues and the story in Fusion, it's mostly the action of the game I love the most. This Metroid seems really action focused.
All am2r tracks sound samey to me. SR has more variation with both catchy (superb) and ambience (not a fan) themes
I hope Samus monologues return in Metroid 5, it's not a remake of an original game so I would love to see more of Fusion's Samus.
as long as they're skippable I guess it's fine, but I worry about sakamoto in control of samus monologues after other m
CIA when?
If it's text-based again, I wouldn't mind. I do agree that I hope they're skippable this time.
Is it harder than zero mission? One of my biggest complaints of zero mission is that its too easy and short
Metroid 5 is not happening. We'll have a better chance of having a remake of super metroid before any continuation of the story after Fusion.
I would love to see more Fusion suit stuff myself but they're gonna make it the last episode for samus, it seems.
>Metroid 5 is not happening
>people still think this
Sakamoto said already stated that he no longer doing remakes and is ready to move on passed Fusion, how many times does this need to be explained to your mentally challenged ass.
>Comparing a shitty fan made game to an official game
Gee user idk
Give me a source right now.
it's a good fangame, though
If it is that would be the only one I've ever seen.
Yoshio Sakamoto: "We've just made a full-fledged remake so I'd rather take on something new. That's my general approach, and this was a new challenge. Not limited to the Metroid series, I'm also considering completely new avenues. I can just say I'm thinking about it - and I'll keep the rest as a surprise!"
.CIA WHEN
Good enough for me. Thanks user.
AM2R is a good, fun game. I don't know why everyone on here feels they need to argue that it was either the best Metroid ever or just some shitty fan game. It's neither. It's a solid entry that doesn't do anything mindblowing either.
The absolute madman, it's both amazing and weird feeling that a game that fans have been anticipating since 2002 is finally coming to fruition. Rebooting with a remake is a great way to get new people into the series as well so they can catch up in time for Dread.
Welcome
I can't wait, myself.
I really hope they release it for Switch but just the fact that it's all but confirmed is good enough for me at this point.
user WHERE IS THE CIA U PROMISED
I was initially really skeptical about SR but my opinion has changed over time. I am cautiously optimistic.
MOTHER FUCKER WHERE IS IT
Buy it, you big fat dildo.
I dont live in across the border. I would still have to wait either way
NEVER EVER
Is there realy no speed booster in the game?
>Oh look a cute romance between a tomboy and a nerd
>It's haremshit
Just kill me.
Chances are it will be. The Switch's install base should be good enough to replace the 3DS by 2019 or 2020.
...
CIA UP
Where at senpai?
user will surely deliver
Any time now
