Ever like a game because you feel obligated to? Like you can't pin down the reasons you like it as much as you do?

I like DK64,but not just because of the music. I think the different collered collectibles triggers my autism, even though I recognize it's not that fun.

Not really, either I like a game or I don't. Easy to pin down why.

no, you're fucking weird

Either you like a game or you don't retard.

Donkey Kong 64 is the game that I have both the fondest memories for and the least respect for.

I would love to see a remaster that removes color-coded collectibles, or allows you to switch the Kongs on-the-fly, though.

Gorgeous looking water

what does guy on the right say again

I love this image. basically the entire game in a coconut shell
>playing as DK
>Chunky's Triangle
>Tiny's ballow
>Diddy's blueprint
>coconut gems to top it off.

All in the same fucking place and you have to collect every single one of them.

I love the game though. fond memories.

I had PC games growing up, but this was my first console game (that I owned and played more than once).

Can you imagine how bad my tastes mustve been to suffer through this awful game?

I eventually began to hate the game when I couldn't get some stupid fucking coin to progress. I think I had to beat the original donkey kong/mario game and that annoying fucking animation that had to play to start the game really slowed it down

Ka-splat.

It's also the name of the enemy.

You remembered correctly. To get the Nintendo coin, you needed to beat the Donkey Kong Arcade in Frantic Factory twice- once on normal, and once on hard. You only had 1 life per game, but in hard mode you could easily get a 2nd life by 75m. If you lost, you had to go through a cutscene of DK pulling the level and the camera zooming in each time.

Every single DK64 problem would be fixed if you could change your character anytime

I bet he doesn't even know the first game that required dual analog sticks that also made dual analogs catch on.

I got it on the WiiU for nostalgia's sake. Quit after unlocking Diddy. It's probably the best game ever to play once and only once.

Some of the fast travel pads in some levels would still be stupidly placed.

Crystal Caverns is probably the most egregious example, three of them are used to unlock specific items and nothing else so there's only two actual useful warps.

what went wrong

The Wii U version is hilarious because they fixed DK64's terrible lag issues.

While that sounds great it means that certain mini-games which were designed with the lag in mind become near impossible. Also the opening demo desynchs too.

DK64 is basically held together with string and tape.

fuck, that other arcade game was decent and I beat that, but my 6 year old self could not beat donkey kong.

Not being Kevin, first of all

oh fuck, that was the most bullshit.

>that mini game where you had to shoot the characters with bananas
>tfw I had to pause buffer because shit was legit going too fast to play properly

yes, super Metroid.
I love the atmosphere, but it's really not that fun. fusion is way more fun to actually play.

OP meant you like a game for tenuous reasons. he just worded it strange.
