Mario

"I like this game."

>Features streamers in the advertisement/commercial

appealing to a broader audience

"updating" old gameplay mechanics

>buy my fucking game or i'll kill your entire family

>integral

>It just works

>Dark Souls-like

>Procedurally generated

"Synergy"
"Back to its roots"

>diverse
>inclusive

There's no particular word or phrase I can think of that makes me assume they're shilling. However I think it's a red flag when someone has nothing negative to say about a game in question. Even the most highly acclaimed games have flaws, and refusal to acknowledge any of them comes off as a little suspicious.

>open world!

>fidelity

>multicultural

>for you the gamers
>we went back to our roots
>we added/took the time to add

Any positive statement about something I don't like.

> visceral

>the dark souls of X

>its shit

Fuck off Oxford Dictionary of English shill

If the game is somehow marketed, I don't buy it.

>Destiny

Name a game that was never marketed

Can't, otherwise I would have to stop playing it.

>breathtaking

When people talk about a game.

Dead giveaway.

To this day I still don't understand why we even have a board about video games when nobody here likes video games.

>its comfy

>like nothing you're ever seen before
>engaging
>player-driven

>new diverse cast

>broader audience

>hip and relevant

>streamlined

>re-imagined

>reboot

>a new take on an old classic

All of these are red flags. Any dev that prides themselves on ignoring everything that was learned from the previous game(s ) and starting from scratch with untested ideas is playing dice with everyone's time and money.

X is the new 3d platformer, it'll be a ressurection of 3d platforming genre, the new banjo kazooie!

>its the Dark Souls of [genre]

Here's a soulcrushing thing to do on Google: search "And That's A Good Thing" and see how many news articles pop up. It's some Orwellian shit, man.

ITT: How to spot sociopaths.

don't put this burden on me

Lawbreakers

>we want the sane people audience

"remake"

Yes, marketers are sociopaths.

Some of these seem like basic pattern recognition instead of intentionally misleading phrases.

Real world marketing (AAA):

>immersive
>expansive
>revolutionary
>hardcore
>remake/remaster
>breathtaking/visual fidelity/4K
>caters to a broader audience

>unique artstyle
>story rich
>metroidvania
>soulslike
>""""roguelike""""
>diverse

Sup Forums shilling (applies only to OPs):

>has anyone seen [this game]? / Does Sup Forums like [game?] it's like [game commonly liked] but
>gunporn
>pure kino
>anything trying very hard to compare the game to a classic game
>using any of the above buzzwords unironically

Get out Todd

Not so much a term, but more when they use the exact same image whenever they start a thread.

>HDR
>streamlined
>back to the roots

>hobby-grade

>up to [number] possible combinations

>shitty memes that won't die

> no one has said it yet

They had a gorillion sponsored streamers and an Open Beta

Jesus it's like reddit

No one said they need to be misleading.

reddit is everywhere because we allow it to.

Can you fucking imagine if newspaper headlines 50 years ago had that stupid shit tacked on the end.

"JFK assassinated in Dallas (And That's A Good Thing)"
