Why wasn't Sons of liberty for the PS2 on par with pic related
Why wasn't Sons of liberty for the PS2 on par with pic related
Because the game on PS2 was a game aware that it was a game and fighting it.
The game on XBox was aware it was a game and embracing it.
what exactly was the difference
Didn't PS2 get Substance as well? I got in early so vanilla plus the behind scenes extra disc was default, but I'm sure Substance shenanigans came up later
yes PS2 got substance.
you could skateboard around Big Shell on the PS2 Substance version
I thought MGS2:S for Xbox was one of the few ports that was worse on Xbox than PS2.
But ps2 has weaker specs than Xbox
What do you mean? What's different between the versions?
Do people really think the gameplay of these games holds up?
I'm halfway through mgs3 on the 360 hd collection and it's just, so many menus and clunky awkward aiming
(I started with MGSV [and it's one of my favorite games I've ever played])
it was more about expanding the game than porting it. japan didn't even get the xbox or windows versions..
Sons of Liberty was the original game. It was just MGS 2: Son's of Liberty.
Substance was the game, a collection of 100 or so VR Missions, and odd items and modes that messed with the meta of the base game, along with a slew of Easter Eggs and cutscene interactions.
Too bad the Xbox version of MGS2 kinda sucked.
You're probably ripping the piss but the menus are amazing in that game. Try eating and spinning yourself around in the survival viewer, madness
you fucked up starting with V. you'll probably like peace walker though.
BOI I BOUTTA
that ellipsis was by accident and i'm not a homo that uses ellipsis
>there were no crazy Sub versions of MGS4 or PW
Why did Kojima suddenly become such a shitter?
The controls on xbox version of the hd collection suck since aiming requires pressure sensitive buttons which don't work too well on the 360 controller.
okay.... whatever you say...
Like, I loved V for the immersion, any situation came down to how you tackled it and having the skill to pull it off.
Mgs3 I feel extremely limited, I have to wait for very certain situations and then if I'm caught in fighting the stupid first person aiming more than I am the enemies. Non-lethal seems impossible. Idk I find it extremely unimmersive like oh, gotta pause, heal up, oh, switch to this gun, freezes everything while I scroll through to find it, oh yeah turn off suppressor, etc.
idk it's kinda boring and slow
maybe I'm just bad at games.
Reminder that this is the series in its purest form.
Using ellipses isn't as homo as making an additional post to overcompensate an innocent mistake on a Translvanyian Country Club.
maybe he just stopped liking the english dubs and didn't have any other meaningful additions to justify a rerelease
whatever you say, nerd.
i know this is bait but i still hate you for this post
You are limited. The franchise built up to V, the best gameplay the series has ever seen. It's predecessors do not stand up in terms of gameplay, and it's quirks can be frustrating. But they stand up very well to games of their time, and as classics worth playing.
>muh immersion
Youre an underage faggot who likes mgs5
>The controls on xbox version of the hd collection suck since aiming requires pressure sensitive buttons which don't work too well on the 360 controller.
you're a fucking retard, it's literally the complete opposite, it's piss fucking easy on a 360 controller because all the pressure bullshit is mapped to easy to reach buttons
The Secret Theater in MGS3 was one of the greatest things ever. There could have been gold if MGS4 or PW had something like that.
Okay this makes sense. I felt like it might be the port. The controls are just mapped so stupid.
No you're just shit
t. played the series with both Xbox and PS controllers
how bad are the vita controls?
True that I'm not trying to tear the game down just giving my honest insights from a first play through. In the context of when they came out they're good games but after starting with v the little flaws are just amplified.
I'm 23 Ive just never owned a playstation
I BOUTTA SLAP THE SHIT OUTTA YOU
Because that's mgs2.5 we got it on ps2 as well.
>People always whine about the Xbox controls
>apparently no one knew that clicking the thumb-sticks in accomplished what the pressure sensitive button pushes did
Like for fuck sake guys, the HD collection came with a damn manual, an actual manual, why don't you people ever read the instructions.
Fuck you, I'm sick of you fucks. It's a great game and you fucks always assume I'm trying to troll. Seriously, fucking yall. Why is it anytime I bring it up on v you fucks think I'm baiting?! CAN'T YOU FUCKS JUST ACKNOWLEDGE THAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIKE THIS GAME THE BEST!?!! STOP DISMISSING ME!!!AT LEAST HAVE THE COMMON DECENCY TO CALL ME RETARDED INSTEAD!!!!!
I prefer the Xbox controls because pressure sensitive buttons are shit garbage.
Worst was mgs on original . Unplayable
My nigga, finally someone gets it, having that shit mapped to L3 is a fucking godsend
They are better once you get used to it but there's a learning curve. Can't think of any game I had to "learn" the controls for from the 360 gen besides MGS HD
not enough buttons
I still really don't understand, I adapted within an instant, being able to click the thumbstick instead of having to do obnoxious pressure sensitive pushes was just bliss.
Personally because I bought the digital version, but thanks for the info I didn't know this :0
This is what I thought as well. I think the Xbox port had slowdown when it was raining if I remember it right
>Black and white buttons
>Easy to reach
Maybe on the updated controller but the original one was an ordeal to use those buttons.
Here we fucking go
pure kino
too bad they fucked up the voice acting and music
