>leak is out
is it on 3dsiso? QR?
Again, what's the cheapest way to get the Legacy Edition while in the US?
the absolute state of the franchise...
>a 6 year cringe coma
>a just okay shooter with the Prime name tacked on for sales (which it didn't get) and no Samus
>A better metroid game than nintendo has made in the last decade gets killed off on metroid's birthday
>the game that AM2R was killed for comes out in 2 days and I can't give a shit because I already played metroid 2 twice in the last year
also mercury steam and sakamoto I'm not giving either of those fucks money
ok
It wasn't killed user, the game was finished then patch fixed and everyone can get it anywhere.
SR is shit though they completely missed the point of Metroid 2 entirely.
The point of Metroid 2 is to kill the metroids isn't it? What are you implying?
apologize
Now subtract ten points and you got your real score.
So whats the new content again? Just a Metaridley fight and the mining robot the chozo made?
>Sakamoto yet again trying to make metroid into fucking action with special melee moves.
>has to deal with old suit being given Prime series aesthetic.
I just want this guy out
I'm enjoying the shit out of it. The game looks amazinf even on my old o3ds. The hype was not in vain. Everything looks and plays amazing. I don't care about fusion mode (never played this mode) so i don't give a shit about their amiibo practices.
>Playing a romhack
Metroid 2 aged horribly, even worse than the original Metroid. This game is how a remake should be done.
gaming website "scores"
have you learned nothing from MGSV? Honestly
That's nice to know dear.
Playing the leak right now. Stuck on the Diggernaught fight. Just beat the first Omega.
4 metroids left to kill, all power ups except power bombs, (which I get after this fight).
Game is balanced really weirdly. Everything does insane amounts of damage, but also drops tons of health. I'd say it's the hardest Metroid other than the original.
Screw attack got nerfed and now you bounce off of some enemies, while plasma beam is incredibly OP and kills enemies that require dozens of missiles in 5 seconds.
The game forces you to pick up every power up, just like Fusion. It's impossible to progress to the end without picking up everything. They also do all sorts of things to stop you from sequence breaking.
>just a romhack
okay, so we know you didn't play it them
Or you can wait for the user score, assuming it doesn't get bombed.
hi sir
It should end up being around the same.
if anyone beat the game, can they post a picture of Samus without either her suit or helmet? Can you also post the Ridley fight? Lastly, can you post all of the Chozo Memories images?
I did play it, it was a nice concept even if it was just Metroid 2 in Super Metroid's graphic design.
Now, having an official remake, why would anyone want to play a fan game instead of the better remake?
haha
wtf it leaked? where?
I'm apparently at the point in my life where I just don't get super-hyped for any game until it's almost out (as in, a week at most). It's so fucking great, and I definitely wasn't like this several years ago.
>ruining the thread right from the start with am2r drama
Nice job.
The funny thing is, the melee counter thing actually came from MercurySteam.
Ehh, i'm enjoying it, but I think that am2r spoiled it.
just wait and see the mechanics being better. Can't wait for them user scores. I dont care about the 3d graphics
How? The games are barely similar.
When has a user score ever been an accurate representation of a game's quality? It's literally just people spamming 10s and 0s.
They are very similar, like the structure of the areas. It's similar enough to evoke deja vu
I'm playing the game right now in Area 5 and I can tell you the areas are not similar at all.
Thank god it's getting pirated.
What am I suppose to do here?
Would have been great in a remake of Fusion, like they initially pitched. But no.
AM2R is a steaming pile of dogshit. MSR blows it out of the water.
>Amazon was supposed to ship the game yesterday and it still hasn't
I even paid 3 yurobucks for fast shipping, it better be here on friday
That's nice dear.
WHERES THE LINK GIVE ME THE CIA RIGHT FUCKIGN NOW OR ILL REPORT YOU ALL TO NINTENDO
>No sequence breaks
>Screw attack is shit
Aaaaand into the trash it goes.
Morph Ball jump is required in this one, got to find it. Its in area 2.
How do you even expect to sequence break in Metroid 2.
It's a fetch quest with locked doors by design.
Its a remake of the second most linear Metroid game.
I'm in area 3 right now, it's starting to get different, but the first 2 areas were very, very similar
This is funny. You guys complain that Nintendo does nothing with the franchise anymore and then when they do, you guys fucking pirate it. Pirate fags are seriously the scum of the industry. DRM is your fault.
>move with thumbstick and not dpad.
BAHAHAHAHA. No. Just no.
Hey, guys is the Chozo statue that the Queen Metroid destroyed near her chamber that had the Ice Beam still in the game?
Let you reach other metroids before the ones you're supposed to? Put in alternate paths so certain powerups aren't necessary? You know, like in Super?
Fuck, one of the beta metroids ran away on me, I hope it's not a bug
>You know, like in Super?
So not like Metroid 2?
>360° aim with d-pad
are you a LITERAL, ACTUALLY retard?
>remake linear metroid game
>wow why is this fucking linear
literal 8.8
anyway, downloading the CIA tonight and installing for my train trip tomorrow.
Zero Mission added a bunch of new paths and content. It wouldn't have been hard for them to change things around if they'd cared enough to. Part of the fun in Metroid is exploration and creative use of abilities.
He's not wrong you know
>expecting sequence breaks to be found day -2
Fucking idiot
>im so fucking retarded i cant use google
You dont deserve it.
no, we just dont want to give certain faggots money. the person who fucked it up in the first place.
There's no reason to keep it linear. It's not like Fusion where they have a story to try to maintain. The point is just to kill all the metroids, why should the order you kill them in and how many powerups you collect matter?
third
Players need to git gud obviously
Then why the fuck dont you try to find a way to sequence break it? Or are you just shit at videogames you have to be spoonfed?
It's okay so far. It's not blowing my mind or anything. Boss fights and metroids feel a lot more tense because shit does so much damage in this game. I've died a ton. It's also nice having the old style upgrades where you just wander into them sitting on a chozo statue and you just walk up and get it and that's it.
>am2r
>just super metroid's graphic design
>super metroid of all things
>just graphic design
What the fuck are you talking about. Did you even look at the fangame? Now you're really talking out your ass. Play Metroid 2 then play am2r before you talk out your ass. The games are vastly different.
Buy it on eBay like other people?
Zero Mission locked the open ended exploration of the original game with a new linear sequence of items and events, then added secret routes to bypass the sequence if want to play it like the original.
Metroid 1 was an open ended exploration game where after the first few powerups in Brinstar you charted your own route through the game world. Metroid 2 is a linear action game where the difficulty of the enemies you hunt down consistently ramps up to create tense combat encounters. They're different by nature, and Samus Returns following the design philosophies of the original game instead of retrofitting Metroid 2 into Supers gameplay isn't a bad thing.
>uh uh well YOU DO IT THEN!
Kind of impossible if they've locked it down like Fusion, isn't it?
>How you anons enjoying it?
Just finished it. Holy fuck is it short, WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO???? I'm glad I didn't pay for this shit.
>go to /vg/
>go to homebrew thread
>ctrl + f "mega"
>if it ain't there, open the previous general linked in the OP
it's not rocket science kiddo
Its actually longer than every other game in the series.
No you didn't.
>Zero Mission added a bunch of new paths and content.
and thats what this does.
>10 more metroid boss fights
>every fight has been drastically revamped
>Two New bosses MetaRidley and Chozo mining robot
>new map design to the point where things are drastically different
>teleporters and elevators to make backtracking less of a chore
>tons of other shit
>Two New bosses MetaRidley
WHAT
Sure. I'm not saying linearity is always bad. It wouldn't be a bad thing if Metroid 2 wasn't constantly criticized for its lack of exploration and linearity. It wouldn't be a bad thing if most people didn't rate Fusion lower than Zero Mission because of its linearity. When your fans have shown a constant distaste towards linearity and praise the freedom to explore and experiment with the order, it might be good to look into implementing that freedom into the game designed to win angry fans back, you know?
Apparently has three phases too. The music tracks for them are great.
>spoiling yourself
why did you do that?
Cool game
>a remake of the most recent 2D Metroid
Are you a retard?
>Caring about spoilers in a metroid game
lol
I'm enjoying it so far but the control, especially coming off AM2R, doesn't feel as tight and fluid. I wish morphing wasn't on the touch screen and be able to moonwalk with a button.
gameplay spoilers are a thing too you know
Actual post ending spoilers: after the credits you see an X parasite infect one of the basic enemies and turn into its appearance in Fusion
>What is Zero Mission
Sounds like you're the retard here. And a remake of Fusion is what MercurySteam pitched to Nintendo in the first place.
>remaking a game from 2002
What's the issue?
Does she cry when fighting him?
What the shit am I supposed to do for the mining robot fight? I break both of his arms, but after that it just repeats the same actions over and over again without revealing any weak points.
not him, date doesn't mean shit. Super came ou tin 1994 and it doesn't need a remake, neither does fusion
He was too big not to be in this game.
>What is Zero Mission
A remake of the oldest game in the series?
Remaking Fusion is stupid because it was the most recent 2D entry and because it's easily available and still very playable. Metroid 2 on the other hand was stuck on a shitty console with stone age mechanics.
Super doesn't need a remake because it would have to be perfect to top the original. If you can't significantly improve the original then a game shouldn't be remade.
Thanks found it. I forgot to check the top area
So like I loved the Metroid 2 fan remake, should I bother with this? The counter system is dumb and honestly the 2.5d looks really ugly.
Yeah but AM2R beat this to the punch and it's better.
>people still think we're getting remakes after SR and not Metroid 5.
Yoshio Sakamoto: "We've just made a full-fledged remake so I'd rather take on something new. That's my general approach, and this was a new challenge. Not limited to the Metroid series, I'm also considering completely new avenues. I can just say I'm thinking about it - and I'll keep the rest as a surprise!"
eurogamer.net
Not him but you guys are fucking retarded.
A big fan of the series should probably be familiar enough with Metroid 2 to recognize that a remake of it isn't going to satisfy their craving for more Super Metroid, so I don't see why you're upset for getting exactly what it was marketed to be.
The very foundation of the game was built on a gimmick that forces linearity, having to hunt down a specific grouping of Metroids within a small area to access lower parts of the cave with stronger Metroids. Removing that form of progression for a looping map, skippable bosses or bypassing major regions of the game is counter-intuitive to that gimmick, and if you're going to remake Metroid 2 without its most important feature why the fuck would you even remake Metroid 2?
I'm very happy we're seeing a modern take on a gameplay idea held back by the hardware of the Gameboy instead of Nintendo scrapping the entire thing to play it safe with the Super Metroid format, because Metroid 2 had interesting ideas worth at least one revisit.
you can't really improve fusion much either unless you completely change core aspects of it like the overall game design of how the biomes work and the navigation room Adam parts. Neither ZM/SR removed anything as fundamentally important.
Debatable. I loved AM2R but they were uncreative in their expansion of the map. Whereas SR integrates them so well that every area feels original.
hes fucking overused, just a new design
Sakamoto shouldn't be making any more Metroid games. I wish they'd cut him loose already.
Why do you AM2R fags have to insist that SM can't coexist? Jesus christ stop being so damn petty and just enjoy we have two good remakes to play instead of forcing a stupid remake war.
