I'm not creative enough

No. I get feature creep real bad.

My friend tried to produce a game but the programmer they initially hired tried to cut a bunch of corners. The guy even tried to say they're actually paying him to use his template codes to speed up the game's process. With this in mind, every time they asked him to create new functions for the game he tried to get them to pay more because he had to create new code templates. We later discovered he was paying someone online to write the code for him while claiming stakes on the bigger percentage. Game developement stopped and my friend asked for at least 75% of his money back.

I tried to make my own RPG Maker 2000 game in the early 2000s. But I gave up after my first twenty or so maps and two dungeons because I had to replay every single map to make sure there were no errors.

>game's so boring you can't even be bothered to test it
You did everyone a favor.

>building huge places with rpgmaker default tileset
>"uh yea this is my new game that im working on"

You must have a lot of friends with that attitude.

I don't have any friends, but my attitude is just the tip of that iceberg.

Something must have gone horribly wrong then

I am able to make sprites. But I am unable to code. RPG maker is shit. I don't like playing rpg maker games.

Feels all right. I get to become a lunatic and nobody can stop me.

Why would you pay someone to program your first amateur level indie game project that's probably made with rpg maker

Already did
Heres the gameplay
youtu.be/Bxu5KcM4qAY

Too bad i can never play it again

PAJEETED

Yeah

Workin on it
Art isn't mine

He's right though

I want to make a game like factorio, but instead of being on a planet you are floating in space on an asteroid belt and you have to make bridges and pipes between the asteroids.

This. Also I'm a shit writer and I have no real design skills or anything.

There was a lot of really good RPG Maker content if you knew where to look.

I wouldn't of course publish it but it's pretty fun to make maps, enemies, some kind of plot etc. just for fun even with the default shit.

I have worked with all RPG Makers doing nothing but fun shit I had in my mind for personal enjoyment - in VX Ace there's an actual 25+ hours game too.

Coding is no where near as hard as it was in the past. Engines like Unreal or Unity handle most of that side of things too. If you spent a few hours practising with Unity each day you could have a simple platformer prototype finished in a couple of weeks.

I'm not creative or artistically gifted. I hate working with other people anyway.

Wud play

Either that or you are on an ocean and you got to pump up various molten resources and do things with that.

And the resources have certain properties depending on their temperature that affect what materials you can me. Like if you let molten x cool down all the way you will never get property y from it so you can no longer produce material z.

So a lot of the logistical puzzle would be managing temperatures and mixing fluids together. They'll be all kinds of pipes, pumps, tanks, mixers, and so on.

That's pretty nixe mapping. I bought Rpg maker MV and it was pretty fun fucking around with it

>spend a shit ton of time building the maps and scenery
>everything grinds to a halt when I have to work on actual gameplay

help

I've always wanted to make an epic. A vidya epic.

>inb4 le epic XD gb2 r*ddit

>epic: a long film, book, or other work portraying heroic deeds and adventures or covering an extended period of time.

It would probably be a jrpg with varying mechanics. You'd be able to make important choices. Losing fights wouldn't necessarily mean game over depending on the fight. Perhaps that a certain character dies. Maybe it'd be a multi series game with your choices carring through all of them. kind of like the .hack series with the game saves carrying over. I just don't really know where to start and I'm not very programming savvy.

I'd start with learning programming.

Retard.

>agility
>dexterity
>AND finesse
What's the difference even?
Ditto for str vs power

No. I however try to mod most games that I play.

You're right. You seem to be an expert, so how would one do this?

>tfw cant code or sprite, but an alright writer

I tried modifying a Pokémon Crystal ROM once and failed miserably.

>trusting other people
Your friend should know better.

>showing your face to your victim
>holding the knife with the sharp end towards yourself

no just don't know to go about it i have a really good artist

I've made a couple of bad TF2 maps.

Yeah, RPG Maker game, had hundreds and hundreds of maps and a lot of cool shit.
Played Tales of a Drunken Paladin and loved how you could interact with everything os I did that for thousands and thousands of objects.

Then my Hard drive died and I lost it all.
Back up your stuff kids.

I am! It's fun. I started production on my first game 2 weeks ago. It's about a young Demon Prince who's enlisted by his mom to capture a human princess to eat for dinner.
I can already do art, RPG Maker coding is stupid easy, and I've spent the last week learning how to make songs in FL studio, I've come up with a few beats actually!
I would be close to being finished by now, however I got a job offer so I've been busy pumping out art for that.
The game itself is simple practice for my dream game, so it's nothing major. I know I need to take small steps and pace myself or I end up with a game too big to complete, plus short, silly stories are fun to tell.

i know that feel

I made some shitty waypoints for CS 1.4 bots if that remotely counts as making a vidya.

>Played Tales of a Drunken Paladin and loved how you could interact with everything os I did that for thousands and thousands of objects.
Good lad, taking inspiration from the right places.

have hum rape the human

>its not even a static knife but an inherently weak mechanical knife
i think people underestimate how strong skin can be, you can kill someone with that knife but i guarantee it will be a lot less graceful than with something like a mora kniv. always use a fixed blade and stay away from mechanical/fold knifes as they aref ucking useless novelty bullshit

How did you get started?

Mostly RPGmaker shit.
Me and a friend worked on one for shits and giggles. He handled writing and story while I handled everything else.

It was a fucking mess.

Also, our burning town for one section had enough going on that it slowed PCs to a crawl so that was fun.

not my point nigger

Yes in unity
Had developed a pretty loose combat system and made a rough world map. Made my own models that worked which is my proudest moment as someone who has 0 art skills.

But I inevitably got lazy and knew what I wanted i couldn't make reality.

Making a game did make me realize games like chivalry take exactly 0 effort to make and getting famous is all luck. Cause my game had a very loose combat system that resembled it and I'm a guy with 0 coding knowledge other than what I was googling on the fly each time I wanted to do anything.

>"I wanna make a game!"
>google how to pirate RPG maker
>google how to pirate FL studio
>watched tutorials on both while I drafted up game ideas
It wasn't difficult to get started, especially with RPG maker. Music was much harder but I was able to make songs after 1 day of struggling.
You can learn literally anything you want through the internet, I think the people who say they don't know where to begin have never genuinely tried to begin desu. I'd know since I used to be like that.

on your bike pencilhead

Yea hope i can shit out the demo

hello i would like to know more please thank you

This is relevant to my interests.

I've been learning SDL for that exact purpose but I cant draw sprites or anything for shit so I've hit a roadblock. I've stopped learning SDL until I can draw a 2d sprite of a character that I'm happy with and then I'll continue, no point in learning all the code needed then spend months trying to draw all the art and then have to refresh my memory on the code again. Plus I'm a programmer so learning to code a game is easy compared to the other stuff needed.

Tempted to just use royalty free art from online but feel like its cheating and won't really live up to my vision.

sex please

so when are you gonna upload it to 4chin?

That's a pretty good point. Thanks for the info, and the reminder.

I made some campaigns in Starcraft, Warcraft 3 and a bunch of maps in Unreal.

I wanted to make my own game, but my drawing / artist skills are way too bad to make a proper game from scratch.

Also in Neverwinter Nights.

Just generic rpgm game with some teasing.devblog takkongguy-blog.tumblr.com/

nah

>tease
>no porn

why tough?

I can make a build and upload it next time I catch an RPG maker thread like this one, if that's okay with you.
I'd post it on /agdg/ but every time I ask for advice or post progress I just get bad memes as responses, so I'd rather not waste my time there.
Yeah user, I think getting past that wall of initial fear is hard, but once you begin you realize that making a game is just doing a bunch of small tasks over and over. Just get started! Start right now, actually. Here's the guide I used. Go! Go!
youtube.com/watch?v=IR9y6vco-VQ&list=PLMcr1s5MjsiTky6KB4ML-q_QoBE_ZYJk5

Good luck user, hope you become the next big hit like Embric Deluxe.

Yes. It was a 2d game for one of my college subjects way back then. Animations was a real shit to the point that i wanted to tear my hair out. It was quite fun though. Just quite.

Gaben won't let sale if porn

How about a third party patch that add porn? because hell no i ain't play a sfw tease game.

Who is your artist?

mechanical/folding knives of all kinds are of varying quality based on how well they lock, for that reason a lot of folding knives are perfectly fine.

Maybe but i need to learn how to add patch first

myself

What WC3 campaigns did you make? I've played a shitload of custom campaigns over the years.

Can I pay you for art? Do you have information for that anywhere?

You are able to trace other people's sprites, you mean.

>delicious brown
>delicious abb
Aww yes goty
>no long hair characters
0/10 don't buy
You had one job user

Try google you retard, if that's too difficult, go to Codecademy for starters.

>myself
Holy shit dude, make a porn game too, your art is too good to pass something like this.

Sorry not doing commission at the moment

noted, planning to add slimegirl, robutt in the future too

rpg maker isnt making vidya you retard. there's way too few possibilities to make a game that's unique, because everything created with it follows the same formula. rpg maker games are fun once, twice, then you can't stand them anymore.

hey I remember you, you gotta make a porn game man.

But >>/hgg2D/

whats wrong with them?

Slimegirl I guess who be who to add longhair too, I'm not much interested in robutt. Just my personal suggestion, if you ever put out a demo I'll be sure to check it out though, game looks like it has potential. And I'm not interested just for haha fap material game looks good but I'm a turnbased fag

a game with your art would be better than half of the shit there man.

My bad, meant to quote

Don't lie, user. Drawfag user is pretty good but he has a way to go.

yeah they're shit

steamcommunity.com/id/femininepenis/myworkshopfiles/?appid=214850

Doesn't mean it wouldn't be better than a bunch of the stuff over there.

I started last night. Don't bully.
youtube.com/watch?v=7wOMtyP3DyE

Attempted to make a CCG once, worked out core mechanics but stopped half-way through creation of an actual fully fledged deck

But can any of you fags top this master piece?

Oh and of course even if I did create a fully-fledged deck then I would've gotten absolutely nowhere with actually creating the game (can't code for shit)

well said, friend

i always give up.
I made something, show them on Sup Forums's occasional thread, show them on /agdg/, nobody even give a fuck nor bother to comment.
meanwhile, the 1343278th 2D platformer with a cute girl mc get more attractions and replies.

yes
I tried making destructible terrain in gamemaker
it lagged like shit and then I never tried anything ever again

Yeah, making my own game. Had to slow dev a lot because of work but you can dl the demo here:

gamejolt.com/games/thelongroad/236740

I fuck up everything I try to do. Better to just sleep.

>tried to make my main character
>I could envision how I wanted him to look but never could make it work cause no art skills
I still like his base concept and can still vision how I want him to be perfectly but it'll never happen. I'll stick as a player/tester rather than a developer. If I ever get rich I'll make a team though.

I've been trying to start several times only to lose all interest seconds after I start the program I want to make it in.

I can say the moment your character first walks is the most euphoric moment I've ever experienced.

Got as far as an enemy design

Literally it
