Does Bioshock 2 deserve the hate it gets?

What hate? Bioshock 2 is and always has been well-received by fans.

It's Infinite that's complete irredeemable trash.

I've been noticing 2 getting less hate in the past few years.

Personally I think it was the best Bioshock.

This, the combat was pretty nice as a big daddy.
Ofcourse you lost the creepy vibe when you became an human tank but aside from that its still a great game.
Infinite killed the series and the elizabeth wankery(literally) pushed the series further into destruction.

I think i could've phrased it better than using the word hate, but the main point is that it is seen as the lesser of the three by many

Playing as a tortured man-come-monster biologically programmed to have the sole mission of protecting your daughter is far more interesting than Booker Dewitt, the generic noire protagonist. Although even a generic noire protagonist is better than the nothing of the first game I guess.

2 was only shit on at first because it wasn't AS good as 1

That's the game's fault really, Bioshock's shadow was too large, and Bioshock 2 never cared to be a bigger or better game, just a different approach. I really enjoyed the game, more than the first one at some points, but it's very easy to understand why it's the most forgotten of the trilogy

i loved it all along as the game bs 1 should have been and ignore the existence of bs i entriely.

i can't even play my copy anymore because of the stupid GFWL install requirements. because GFWL doesn't even exist anymore so no install for me.

i love how bs 2 did everything bsi tried to do with the fatherdaughter relationship 20 times better

I'm almost sure you could've got a steam key with the GFWL key when they were made steamworks a couple years ago

no the actual disc's install require GFWL to exist and be working on your pc to install the game. since the server are dead there's nothing for the program to talk to so i'm locked out of playing. i got my key etc. it's the shitty gfwl drm that killed me every getting to play again.

I'm pretty sure the consensus is that it has better gameplay but the story was inferior.

the only reason the story seems weaker is because bs 1 happened first and the story of 2 isn't a massive improvement over it, they're on par, but because 1 came first 2's seems shittier.

No, in fact I'll vehemently argue it's the best in the series.

It's been estabilished that Bio 2 has the best gameplay in the series and it was the last time when any game in the series was actually fun.
Story was shit but it doesn't matter because it has more replay value.

It's the only bioshock game, or indeed the only game in general where you can play as first person drill sub-zero.
Literally the only other game that sorta has the same level of satisfaction using ice powers is Hexen, modded with the HeXercise mod when playing as the mage.

All of this might not mean much for you, but it means a shit ton for me, there's not many games where using ice powers is as satisftying as these two games.

not bad, story could have been a bit better but essentially it's more Bioshock with better mechanics.
